Zoo celebrates birth of rare baby pigmy hippo

A zoo in the UK has been blessed with the birth of an extremely rare pygmy hippo.

Despite the gorgeous little hippo arriving in the world around three weeks ago, officials are still unsure whether it is a boy or a girl because its mother is so protective.

Cuteness aside, the birth of the pygmy hippo is wonderful for the survival of the animal.

There are just 2,000 left in the wild and their numbers are dwindling.

Bristol Zoo Gardens is part of a worldwide effort to breed pygmy hippos in captivity.
