Healthy homemade tomato sauce

From grandkids to grandparents, tomato sauce is definitely a favourite come dinnertime. Why not make your own healthy version? It’s super simple.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 medium brown onions, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 12 cups fresh or tinned tomatoes, halved
  • 2 red capsicum, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 celery stalk, roughly chopped
  • ½ cup raw or brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, if desired
  • 1 tablespoon paprika, if desired
  • 6 cloves, if desired
  • 1 cinnamon stick, if desired
  • 1 ½ cups red or white wine vinegar
