Then and now: portraits of dogs from puppyhood to old age

American pet photographer, Amanda Jones, who has been photographing dogs for over twenty years, recently embarked on a project to capture dogs in different stages of their life. Jones’ inspiration came from her very own dachshund, Lily, who sadly passed away during the making of the book.
“My own dachshund, Lily, was a frequent model on my set. When I juxtaposed the imagery across her lifespan, I was moved. I saw an opportunity to share similar stories through photographs,” she told BuzzFeed.
The book, Dog Years: Faithful Friends Then & Now, features before and after portraits of numerous dogs breeds, along with comments from their owners.
“Some don’t seem to age at all, yet others show the signs quite openly in their eyes, their jowls, and their gravy hair,” Jones told the Daily Mail. “It is this semblance of ourselves and our souls in their eyes that gives us such a deep connection with dogs. One thing that remains constant is the love people and dogs have for each other. That does not change, no matter how many dog years go by.”
Here are some examples of her work:
1. Maddy at five years and 10 years
2. Lily at eight months and 15 years
3. Fred at two years and 10 years
4. Maddie and Ellie at seven and six, and at 14 and 13 years
5. Abigale at four months and 8 years
6. Briscoe at one year and 10 years
7. Audrey at three years and 12 years
8. Corbet at two years and 11 years
