Another Matildas star ties the knot in stunning island ceremony

Love is well and truly in the air for the Matildas, with midfielder Katrina Gorry tying the knot with her long-time partner Clara Markstedt in a breathtaking beach wedding on Hamilton Island.
Just days after teammate Ellie Carpenter wed her partner Daniëlle van de Donk, Gorry and Markstedt exchanged vows in front of about 70 guests, including Matildas teammates Charli Grant and Michelle Heyman. The couple kept the vibe relaxed and joyful, with guests dancing the night away under the stars.
"We just wanted people to relax, have fun, and have a good time," Markstedt told New Idea.
The pair’s children played special roles on the day. Gorry’s three-year-old daughter Harper was a proud flower girl, while their one-year-old son Koby watched on, with Markstedt adding, “We wanted Koby to be able to walk next to her, but he's a little late!”
Both brides looked radiant in outfits by Melbourne designer Anna Campbell. Gorry chose a two-piece set featuring a cropped blouse and A-line skirt, while Markstedt stunned in a floral one-sleeved gown with a front slit.
The couple, who met in 2021 when Gorry joined Swedish club Vittsjö GIK and became engaged in June 2023, said their “I dos” with the ocean as their backdrop – a perfect setting for their love story.

Their wedding follows the recent celebration of Matildas defender Ellie Carpenter, 25, who married Dutch football star Daniëlle van de Donk, 33, in France. Carpenter shared beautiful photos from the day with the caption, “I choose you. I will always choose you.”
Both Carpenter and van de Donk wore stunning white gowns, with Carpenter in a strapless mermaid-style dress and long veil, and van de Donk opting for a princess gown with delicate lace detailing.
