Aussie dad hailed a “hero” after stopping thief at Coles

A Southern Highlands dad has been hailed a “hero” after he chased down a would-be thief at his local Coles supermarket.
Adrian Brennan was shopping with his 20-year-old daughter, Eliza, in the fruit and veg section when he heard a commotion coming from the store’s entrance.
Despite a staff member’s plea to stop, a young man clutching a stolen roast chicken continued making a beeline for the exit. So, Adrian stepped in.
Abandoning his trolley, the 58-year-old chased after the man, who was making his way towards a car full of his friends in the carpark.
After demanding the young man “give [him] the bloody chicken]” the thief relented before taking off.
Adrian returned to the supermarket, handed the chicken back and continued shopping, while his fellow customers erupted with praise, one even dubbing him a “hero”.
“I think he was just stoked that he was able to catch up to the young guy, despite being 58,” his daughter Eliza told The Land.
“Despite being sunburned and with a split heel from the beach I rose above the pain barrier. Because there is no such thing as a poultry crime," Adrian said.
What a hero!
