New labels on junk food tell how long they take to exercise off

New labels on junk food tell how long they take to exercise off

Ignorance is bliss, it’s said, and Australian sweet makers may endeavour to put an end to caloric ignorance amongst the masses.

Junk-food shoppers may now be faced with the reality of their indulgences, as new labels are introduced that tell the consumer exactly how long it would take them to walk off their snack.

Scientists from Edith Cowan University proposed the labelling system, which will translate kilojoules into walking time on unhealthy foods in an effort to discourage rising obesity rates.

For example, the Australian delicacy, the Tim Tam, would take 24 minutes to walk off. A can of coke would take the drinker 41 minutes.

Eat guilt-free while you can!
