"I was going to die": Grant Denyer's brutal wake up call

Grant Denyer has spoken candidly about a brutal wake up call he received from a doctor, when he was told he would die if he didn't start looking after himself.

The TV host opened up on the Mental As Anyone podcast about how he would repeatedly push himself too far, and the moment he was forced to reevaluate his priorities.

“I was skinny as a rake and unhealthy as hell and the doctor said my organs were running at about seven per cent,” Denyer told the podcast.

“He goes, ‘if you don’t do something about this in the next four weeks, you’re going to die. It took two lessons for me to realise that I had to change my mindset and how I was approaching life and what I prioritised as important until I learned the lesson and I feel like if I hadn’t learned it the second time, it would have been fatal the third.”

The first lesson came to Denyer in the form of a brutal car crash, and the second being chronic fatigue telling him his body needed to stop.

“I broke my back, which I firmly now believe was not as a result of jumping seven cars in a monster truck but as a result of ignoring all my bodily signs, ignoring all the signals my body was trying to give me to slow the hell down,” he said.

“You can’t sustain this pace and this grind and this aggressive chase for the next rung of the ladder, because you will die. As my body was deteriorating and my mental health was deteriorating, the monster truck crash came along to sit me on my arse.”

Denyer also opened up about having to rely on prescription painkillers after his car accident, and how he struggled battling the pain and the effects of the medication.

“It messed with me instantly and majorly,” he said. “To give you an idea, the moment you close your eyes at night time, you fall into your worst nightmares every time instantly and you can’t differentiate between dream and reality so when you wake up, you firmly believed what you have just dreamt, indeed actually just did happen. It was horrible.”

"It is important to reflect on because it is the lows that make the highs and those euphoric moments feel high and that was one of the lows. I think in recognising (and) giving voice to those moments of low, that you can celebrate mediocre a lot more and enjoy that.”

"You are terrible": Brutal comment that drove Paralympian to greatness

From a young age, Paralympian Madison de Rozario knew that people treated her differently.

"There's an enormous lack of expectation in what we [people with disabilities] are able to do in sport, in workplaces, in school," she told 9honey.

"It can be the death of potential … I didn't recognise that's what I was experiencing as a young kid."

Born in Perth, Western Australia, De Rozario developed a neurological disease at just four-years-old and has used a wheelchair ever since.

It didn't hold her back from playing sports with her two sisters, and now she is a Paralympic champion with six medals to her name - two golds, three silvers, and a bronze medal.

De Rozario recalled how Frank Ponta – a silver medallist at the first ever Paralympics in 1960, an inaugural Australian Paralympic Hall of Famer, and coach to several Paralympic icons – helped her overcome her early doubts.

"There was a lot of sympathy, a lot of pity, which I didn't recognise as pity at the time," she said.

"And then there was Frank, and he had none of it."

Ponta was part of a generation of para athletes that fought for recognition and support back when most Australia treated them as if they were invisible.

She recalled how the first time Ponta saw her try to play basketball at just 12-years-old, he told her, "you are terrible at this sport".

While it's not exactly what a young athlete would expect to hear, she acknowledged that she was terrible, but Ponta saw her potential.

He dug an old racing wheelchair out of a storage cupboard, strapped her in and told her to go for a spin around the carpark.

"It was way too big for me and I absolutely fell in love with it," she recalled.

Not long after, Ponta was training her multiple times a week even in the toughest conditions.

Not only did he believe in her, he expected her to achieve great things and that expectation changed everything.

"I think he was the first person that didn't treat me carefully," she said.

"He just treated me like an athlete."

A year later, one of Ponta's protegees, Sauvage, took over De Rozario's coaching and helped her nab a last-minute spot at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.

De Rozario debuted 48 years after Ponta and brought home the silver medal, the same medal he won at his debut.

Ponta sadly died in 2011, a year before De Rozario competed in London, leaving behind a legacy for all para athletes to come.

"I feel so just incredibly lucky that I had one of them in my corner. I didn't even realise it until he was gone," she said.

"I feel so lucky that that's how my career started, with someone who just embodied all of those things that now as a 30-year-old, I hold very, very close."

These memories help fuel her as she prepares for her fifth Paralympics in Paris this month.

This year she hopes to make Ponta proud and be the inspiration to the next generation of para athletes.

"That part still sits so restlessly in me," she said.

Image: DARREN ENGLAND/EPA-EFE/ Shutterstock Editorial

Former Home and Away star admits brutal attack on woman

A former Home and Away star has admitted to bashing a woman during a suspected mental health crisis.

Orpheus Pledger, 31, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday via a video link from custody at Ravenhall Correctional Centre.

Police prosecutor Fionnuala Kennedy said Pledger attacked the victim repeatedly over a three-month period at a home in Northcote, Melbourne, with one of the attacks captured on a motion-capture camera on March 25.

Footage from the camera showed Pledger grabbing the woman's hair, pulling her to the ground and stomping on her head.

The court was told that the woman called triple zero at 1.35am to raise concerns Pledger was suffering a “mental health episode", before the line disconnected right after she said “he’s coming.”

Officers arrived 15 minutes later and found the woman lying on the floor of her home unable to get up, with Pledger nowhere to be seen.

The woman was taken to hospital, where doctors noted that she had bruising on her forehead, a laceration to her cheek, bruising to her right hand and marks on her face and ear.

The court was told that he was arrested the following day, but he was unable to be interviewed because of his "erratic behaviour".

He was released in April for a court-ordered medical assessment due to concerns for his mental health, but he fled from the hospital on April 23 after a six hour wait.

He then returned to the woman's home to collect his things and when asked to leave, he told her: “why, I haven’t done anything”.

Police issued a public appeal before he was arrested two days later.

Defence lawyer Jasper MacCuspie noted that during that time, his client was unable to get the mental health assessment he required, due to limited resources, saying that it was a widespread issue within the health system.

The court heard that there is currently a shortage of ambulance and police resources, which Magistrate Justin Foster labelled as “outrageous”.

““The only reason I bailed him at the time was because there was nothing available for him to be … assessed in a prison setting. And there is no money in the hospital to have these important things assessed,” he said.

“There’s a shortage of everything at the moment, it’s outrageous.”

MacCuspie also said that his client had begun acting at the age of eight or nine but fell into the wrong crowd, and his drug use escalated in his late 20s when he was declined a role on US TV series The 100.

“At the very last minute that fell through. It was a destabilising event,” MacCuspie said.

“He aspires towards acting in future, but accepts by virtue of matter that’s a somewhat challenging prospect,” he added.

Pledger will be assessed for a community corrections order, but has pleaded guilty to four assault-related charges, and will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Images: news.com.au/ Channel Seven

"No fan of mine": Kyle Sandilands shocked on air by brutal John Blackman audio

Kyle Sandilands was paying tribute to his “childhood hero” Hey Hey it's Saturday star John Blackman on-air Thursday morning, when he was interrupted by an audio of the late star trashing him in a recent interview.

Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, the shock jock said he was upset when he learned of Blackman's passing, but before he was able to elaborate on how the radio star was his childhood hero, his manager Bruno Bouchet interjected and told him about Blackman's brutal review.

In a May interview on the You Cannot Be Serious podcast, Blackman said: “Why are we giving these two publicity hungry, oxygen thieves, waste of oxygen. The man [Sandilands] is a no talent. He doesn’t have a voice for radio, by the way.”

Footage of Sandilands listening to the audio for the first time was shared by KIIS FM on their Instagram stories, and both he and Henderson were shocked.

“I’m very confused,” Sandilands said, before coming to the conclusion that Blackman wasn’t a fan of him because he’s not as polished as “old school” media veterans.

“What’s happened here is old school media, TV, radio, newspapers. They’re all fake,” he said.

“They pretend everything’s wonderful. You never really know the real person."

He then elaborated and said that he and Henderson try to keep it real with their listeners.

“We don’t pretend it’s a wonderful day. Even though it’s p*ssing with rain and snowing or whatever. We don’t pretend. We say, ‘Oh, what a s**t day.’ We’re just a different breed.

“Oh well, that’s one hero of mine that’s dead. No fan of mine.”

Images: Instagram

Brutal cost of Bruce Lehrmann’s failed defamation case

Bruce Lehrmann has been ordered to pay the majority of Network Ten's multi-million dollar legal fees after his failed defamation case.

In April, Lehrmann faced a huge loss after the Federal Court found an allegation that he raped Brittany Higgins in a Parliament House office in March 2019 was most likely true, therefore is unable to be defamed for the allegations.

The 28-year-old had sued Network Ten for defamation over a February 2021 report on The Project, in which journalist Lisa Wilkinson interviewed Higgins over the rape allegation.

Since the defamation case drew to a close, the parties have been in dispute over the legal costs and who should foot what is expected to amount to a sizeable legal bill for the long-running and high-profile case.

On Friday afternoon, Justice Michael Lee found in favour of Ten's application for indemnity costs for most of the trial, as Lehrmann is now ordered to pay for the network's and Wilkinson's costs on an ordinary and indemnity basis, but he will not have to pay costs for some affidavits.

"In the end, it comes down to the order for costs that best does overall justice in the circumstances," Lee told the court.

"On balance, the appropriate exercise of discretion is to make an award that Network Ten recover its costs against Mr Lehrmann on an indemnity basis, except for costs incurred in relation to the statutory qualified privilege defence."

In explaining his decision, the judge said he found Lehrmann had defended the criminal charge "on a false basis, lied to police, and then allowed that lie to go uncorrected before the jury".

"He wrongly instructed his senior counsel to cross-examine a complainant of sexual assault, in two legal proceedings, including, relevantly for present purposes, this case, on a knowingly false premise," he said.

Earlier in the week, the court heard Lehrmann had no financial backers and that his lawyers had agreed they did not need to be paid if he lost the case.

The total amount he will have to pay will be determined at a hearing later in May.

"Pretty brutal": Peter Garrett slams Taylor Swift for price gouging tickets

Peter Garrett has taken aim at Taylor Swift, calling out her extrationate ticket prices for a place at the Eras Tour.

The Midnight Oil frontman joined 107.1 SAFM’s Bec & Soda radio show on Friday when he was informed that he was co-host Mark “Soda” Soderstrom’s favourite artist, or in other words, “his Taylor Swift.”

Garrett didn't take too kindly to the comparison, and launched into a rant about the price of Swift's concert tickets.

“I’m not price gouging like Taylor, to be blunt,” he began.

The radio hosts reminisced about attending a Midnight Oil concert in 1985 when tickets were just $15.90, compared to Swifts forking out hundreds of dollars for the highly anticipated Eras Tour.

Tickets for Swift’s Australian tour ranged from $79.90 for G-reserve tickets to $379.90 for A-reserve ticket, while also offering fans multiple VIP packages, reaching an eye-watering $1249.90 for a single ticket.

Some diehard fans were quick to complain about the lack of added value in the packages, which included premium seats with add-ons such as a tote bags, collectable pins, stickers and postcards.

Garrett continued, “I wouldn’t begrudge anyone’s success, that’s the first thing to say."

"She’s obviously touching a chord with masses of people, particularly people of a certain age group who have experienced growing up at a certain time, and what she’s singing and talking about is really ringing true with them.”

However, he also said that “the dollar end of it having looked at it from a distance, having been in this business forever, is pretty brutal.”

Garrett continued to share his disapproval of Swift's Australian domination, complaining about how five of her albums dominated the ARIA charts, booting Aussie artists off the ladder.

“She is so pervasive, she has become such a phenomenon, that she is displacing artists left right and centre. In our ARIA top 100 chart – that’s the Australian record industry chart – I think at one point in the last week or two, we only had three Australian artists in that top 100,” Garrett said.

“Not good enough! And that’s not me crying about it, I’ve had an incredible run. But I think about the younger artists coming through and it’s extremely hard for them now.”

Jett Kenny has suffered a brutal injury just after making his TV debut on the Channel 10 rebooted series of Gladiators.

Lisa Curry’s son was only on the show for one episode before it all came crashing down for the Aussie athlete.

Ahead of the episode airing, Kenny shared a photo to Instagram, with his Olympian mum commenting, “My Viking”.

During one of the first games of the episode, Kenny, aka Viking, was seen tackling a contestant in an effort to block him from dropping a ball into a basket and scoring a point.

However, as they fell to the ground in a brutal battle the star appeared to land awkwardly on the ground.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Jett Kenny (@jettkenny)

While his rival jumped up and continued with the game, Kenny remained laid on the floor seemingly writhing around in pain.

“Fingers crossed it looks worse than it was,” said some of his fellow Gladiators as the narrator revealed that the injured star had been rushed to the medical team for treatment.

“It’s really unfortunate to see. Kochie's brutal message to Baby Boomers

David Koch has shared his brutal thoughts on the housing crisis and rising interest rates, claiming millennials have been dealt the "short end of the stick", while boomers have been spared.

The former Sunrise host, who is now the Economic Director at Compare the Market, said young borrowers are copping the brunt of rising interest rates and soaring inflations.

“If you bought your home in early 2022 under the pretence that interest rates would stay low for longer, you’ve now been lumped with the short end of the stick,” Mr Koch said.

He went on to say young people had difficulty generating any decent savings due to record rental prices and cost-of-living, and those that can scrape together a deposit on a home now face onerous interest charges.

Recent data from Compare the Market found homeowners who bought their homes at the peak of the market in early 2022 were far worse off compared to those who bought three years earlier.

Those who also bought property before the Covid lockdown have also benefited from a rise in their equity, as property prices have significantly increased over the past four years.

Kochie said the repayment hike as a result of rising interest rates was a "tough pill" for young Aussies who had no time to accrue a strong savings buffer.

Given these factors, Kochie said many Aussie baby boomers have been spared the pain of rising interest rates.

"Meanwhile, a lot of mature Australians have missed this pain altogether after selling their properties at the peak and having reaped the benefits over more equity for years," he said.

"A lot of mature Australians have been shielded from the rate rises, and it's already widely believed that their spending drove inflation."

A recent report from CommBank iQ found that baby boomers spending on luxuries appears to be further fuelling Australia's inflation crisis as millennials are forced to cut back on essentials.

This goes a long way to explaining why the current cycle of interest rate rises are not dampening inflation as expected, as the new big spenders are older people who own properties outright and are therefore unaffected by rate rises.

Boomers are are going on holidays and dining out more often, while millennials, battling higher rents and mortgage repayments, rare being forced to reduce their spending to cope with the worst cost of living crisis in a generation.

Koch said, "It's time policy-makers should be asking: how could the pressure be more evenly spread?"

Aussie baby boomers have long claimed that they had to make the same sacrifices when they were buying their first homes, given the home loan rate in 1989 to 1990 was at 17 per cent, compared to today's six per cent variable rates.

However, Kochie debunked this claim, saying current house prices are far higher when measured against average salaries, and that level was only accelerating, far outpacing wages growth.

"Back in the 80s, the average cost of an Aussie house was $70,000, now it's $700,000 - ten times more expensive," he said.

The financial guru explained how in the 1980s the average salary was $19,000, compared with $94,000 in 2023.

"So in the 80s, the price of a house was four times the average person's income," he said.

"In 2023, it's eight times the average Aussie salary."

Kochie urged mortgage holders hit with higher repayments to call their banks and explore whether refinancing to a lower-rate loan is possible.

"We urge people in mortgage pain to reduce the interest on their repayments as much as possible by shopping around for a better deal," Koch said.

"When every dollar counts, 2024 should be the year of the new lender."

90-year-old grandma's secrets, regrets and brutal "advice"

An amazingly sprightly 90-year-old grandmother has appeared on TikTok to share her deepest regrets in life, leaving viewers both amused and contemplative with her surprising take on being a nonagenarian.

The video, which has garnered a whopping 70,000 views, features the wise words of wisdom from a woman who has seen it all, or at least enough to make her wish she hadn't seen quite so much.

The nanna, who spilled the beans to her inquisitive granddaughter Rachel Dillon – an online fitness coach – began by revealing what she wishes she did less of in her life.

"Probably less of nothing," she admits. "I mean I never worked after I was married or anything like that. I wish I had probably done more mixing with people with that. More socialising."

It's then that the truth bombs really start to drop. When Rachel asks, "Do you have any regrets", a cloud of laughter fills the room, before the answer comes.

"Yes, I do regret marrying too young," she says emphatically. "I met my husband when I was 13 and he was 15. We got married at 17 and 19. I met him at the library. He used to ride me up on the bicycle when I was going to the library."

Then, when asked about the secret to turning 90, Rachel's grandma confesses not only that there isn't one, but that she regrets having made it this far at all.

"I didn't really want to get to 90," she declares with the nonchalance of someone choosing between tea and coffee. "I've had enough. I've had all I wanted out of the world. I am quite happy to go and meet my little puppy dog waiting there for me."

When asked about her secret to looking so young, Rachel's grandma almost brushes the question aside, laying the blame simply in the quality of her genes for having "always been a fox", according to Rachel.

The final question, and the final brutally honest response – which may have made Rachel regret asking about regrets – was simply: "Do you have any advice for us?"

"Oh God no," comes the world-weary answer. "Not the way the world's going. No, I'm just glad I'll be gone. I don't want to be part of anything that I can see going on."

TikTok users were quick to commend the grandmother, not just for her unexpected revelations but also for her timeless beauty. "She looks absolutely amazing," gushed one admirer, proving that age is just a number – albeit one that sometimes takes us by surprise.

In the end, this nonagenarian nanna has become an unexpected sensation, leaving us all to ponder life's mysteries, library love stories, and the prospect of meeting puppy dogs in the great beyond.

If her story has taught us anything, it's that life is unpredictable, love can blossom in the unlikeliest of places (like a library), and sometimes it's OK to regret that hasty decision to say "I do" before you even knew how to do your taxes.

Images: TikTok / @racheljdillon

Kyle Sandilands leaves brutal voicemail for Steve Price

In the latest episode of "Australia's Got Voicemails", shock jock extraordinaire Kyle Sandilands unleashed a verbal tempest upon fellow broadcaster Steve Price. What sparked this war of words? Apparently, Price had the audacity to label Sandilands a "grubby buffoon" on national television. And you thought your family gatherings were awkward.

Let's rewind to the moment when Price, with all the subtlety of a kangaroo in a china shop, decided to throw some shade on The Project. With the finesse of a wordsmith, Price declared, "I don't think grubby buffoons work in Melbourne." Ouch. Melbourne, known for its coffee, culture, and now apparently, a grubby buffoon ban.

In response, Sandilands, not one to be outdone in the art of verbal gymnastics, left Price a voicemail that would make a sailor blush. "Hey, you piece of sh*t," Sandilands began, setting the tone for a heartfelt exchange of pleasantries, "we’ve spoken before, last time you forgot that you’re not allowed to mouth off about me.

“Steve, it’s Kyle obviously, there is probably a long list of people who ring you.

“Again just surprised at your feigned reaction on The Project, can’t you just be yourself? Can’t you just say your true thoughts? I can’t wait to see you face-to-face buddy, it’s been too long.

“It’s disappointing that as you’ve gotten older you have turned into a real piece of sh*t. Feel free to play this on tonight’s Project because that’s the last gig you will ever have.

"See you mate, by the way love the alcoholic nose, bye bro.”

Despite the verbal thrashing, Price seemed unconcerned. "I described him as a grubby buffoon, and that's it," Price retorted, probably sipping tea and counting the days until the next headline-grabbing voicemail. It's all in a day's work for a grizzled commentator who's clearly impervious to verbal beatdowns.

In the grand tradition of radio feuds, this clash of titans unfolded after Sandilands and his partner-in-crime, Jackie 'O' Henderson, inked a jaw-dropping $200 million deal live on air.

As the radio waves settle from this tempestuous encounter, we can't help but marvel at the drama that unfolds in the seemingly mundane world of talk radio. Who needs reality TV when you have Australian broadcasters providing this level of entertainment?

In the end, whether it's a buffoon's brawl or a radio roast, one thing's for sure – the Australian airwaves are never short of surprises. Tune in next time for another episode of He Said, He Said, where words are sharper than claws, and feuds are settled with voicemails, not handshakes.

Images: Network Ten / KIIS FM

"It was a brutal moment": Qantas employee recalls mass firing

A former Qantas worker has recalled the "brutal" moment he and almost 1,700 employees were fired from the airline.

Ramp supervisor Don Dixon spoke to A Current Affair about his time with the Qantas, just hours after the High Court ruled the Aussie airline illegally sacked hundreds of employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I absolutely loved Qantas. It was a fantastic company to work for until Joyce took over,” the former employee of over 20 years told Ally Langdon.

“Some of the people I worked with [had been there for] 40 years, and it was an iconic Australian company, and it was a fabulous place to go to work."

“The last 15 years were just awful.”

Mr Dixon said that when Alan Joyce took over as CEO, “everything changed” revealing that loyalty diminished, and he was made to feel like a “dinosaur”.

According to Mr Dixon, he and his team found out they had three months until they would be terminated via an announcement over a loudspeaker in the lunch room.

Host Allison Langdon, floored by the revelation, asked, “Is there any more cowardly way to tell someone who has served loyalty for 20 years they no longer have a job?”

“They could have mailed something, but I don’t think they would have paid for the stamp,” Mr Dixon responded.

“Over the loudspeaker, in the lunch room, we were all together. It was just a brutal moment.”

Mr Dixon claimed that finding other work after he was fired was challenging, given that the 20 years at Qantas left him with a specific skill set.

“Nobody wanted to employ you – when you worked at Qantas, it was a career, it was a lifetime, no one was going to leave because it was that good.”

“It’s not as if every company in Australia has a role for washed-up baggage handlers and cleaners.”

He said Wednesday marked the first day since what has been dubbed one of the largest sackings in Australian corporate history that he, as a union delegate, had heard “happy voices” on the other end of the phone line.

“We were a small part of history today – we won – we did it.”

In the landmark decision that saw former employees pumping their fists in celebration inside the courtroom, Qantas has issued a formal apology to its workforce after the High Court declared its actions unlawful when it terminated the employment of over 1,700 ground crew members during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The court upheld two prior rulings from the Federal Court that deemed the airline's outsourcing of baggage handlers, cleaners and ground staff to be in violation of the law.

"His hero narrative has massively failed": Qantas staff's brutal response to Alan Joyce's early exit

A former Qantas pilot and several current staff members have recounted the moment they found out about now former-CEO Alan Joyce's early exit from the company.

Joyce was planning to retire from his CEO role in November, but shocked the nation on Tuesday when he decided he would be stepping back, effective immediately.

His resignation comes after 22 years in the role, as Qantas continues to face mounting pressures over unprecedented customer dissatisfaction, and a looming glass action lawsuit over cancelled flights.

Upon hearing the news, past and present Qantas employees erupted in celebration.

Retired Qantas pilot captain Richard de Crespigny was on board a flight on Tuesday when the news broke mid-air that Joyce was gone, sparking extraordinary celebrations.

"I was on a flight from Sydney to Melbourne this morning and when I landed the cabin crew were giving each other high-fives," de Crespigny told A Current Affair.

Another ground staff member said, "We're celebrating wildly, not just because he's leaving but because his hero narrative has massively failed."

Mr de Crespigny, who worked for Qantas for 34 years warned the airline won't regain trust overnight just because Joyce has taken off.

"It's built in teaspoons and destroyed in shovel loads," he said.

"It takes incredible skill, determination and empathy to build it up; it's got to be protected."

Mr de Crespigny went on to say the Qantas business restructure after the travel industry was decimated by the Covid pandemic was not good enough, and the upper management made some terrible decisions.

During the pandemic, Mr Joyce locked out employees during an industrial dispute before hundreds of staff lost their jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Some of them didn't come out of it well at all. They lost their jobs, they lost their houses, they lost their marriages," de Crespigny said.

"The workers that held Qantas up … they really suffered greatly."

"And it hasn't been a good vision to see the executive team, the CEO, continue to get bonuses at the expense of maybe baggage handlers and other people that have lost their jobs. This is not a good example of leadership."

Restaurant's "brutal" note divides customers

A restaurant has come under fire for their "brutal" note to difficult patrons, encouraging "privileged" customers who wish to "customise or modify" their menu, to stay home instead.

A sign posted to the restaurant's front door urged customers with allergies to eat elsewhere as staff simply cannot "provide the service they require".

While some applauded the restaurant's no-nonsense stance, others were shocked by the "rude and disgusting" message.

"No means no. Are you one of the small group of people who have been living and entitled and privileged life?" The sign reads.

"Maybe your mother has taken the onions out of your salad, put the dressing on the side, or substitute your vegetables. Here, however, all meals are served precisely the way we prepare them. We do not offer custom meals."

"Remember, we are not your mother and we are definitely not genies that will make your every wish come true."

Chef Jozef and restaurant owner Nathalie listed alternative choices for the "privileged" few including hiring a private chef, cooking for themselves "precisely the way you like", trying another establishment or accept their hospitality as it is offered.

"We have been cooking for almost 50 years. We have many kind, friendly people, acquaintances and families that have been coming for many decades," they wrote.

"So look around, it is a pleasure to see their happy smiles and provide them with our best food possible."

The message also called out those with allergies and food sensitivities, encouraging them to take their business elsewhere.

"It is simply not possible to guarantee each product used in this kitchen. Furthermore, we do not have the qualifications to provide you with the service you require," they said.

The strongly worded sign caught the attention of many online, with some praising the restauranteurs as "honest" and "brilliant".

"Amen, the public is not always right. And actually most of the time they're not. This establishment is well within their right to post this," one person commented.

"You know from the very start how things are. It's one restaurant. If you don't like it, there are so many others you can go to instead... No need to have a sook. Just go elsewhere. Some of us would enjoy a restaurant like this," a second pointed out.

Despite some support for the restaurant's honesty, others were taken aback with lots of people criticising the hard-line stance for being "snarky" and "rude".

One disgruntled person commented, "If you are not able or willing to provide what your guests need or even give service, it might seem better to be honest but this message is rude and disgusting. Don't seek employment in service roles and then complain."

Image credits: Getty Images / Facebook

Karl Stefanovic's brutal verdict on Meghan Markle's emotional funeral display

Karl Stefanovic has shared his brutal thoughts on Meghan Markle's emotional display at Queen Elizabeth's funeral.

Covering the Queen's final farewell in London, the Today host couldn't resist taking a swipe at his least favourite royal as the coverage of the high-profile event started rolling in.

As the Duchess of Sussex was seen wiping tears from under her eye, Karl made the outlandish claim that she wasn't actually crying.

Stefanovic made clear his verdict on Meghan's public display of emotion, emphasising the word "apparently", which didn't go unnoticed by his co-host Allison Langdon.

The moment occurred while Stefanovic and Langdon were speaking to royal photographer Chris Jackson outside Buckingham Palace as the day of the funeral drew to a close.

Karl noted how several photos from the funeral were open to interpretation, particularly in regard to whether certain members of the royal family were crying, going on to imply that pictures of Meghan wiping away tears were perhaps misleading.

"There's been lots of photos around and interpretations of photos and reading into photos [meanings] that may or may not be true," he said.

"There's a couple of Meghan, um, with a tear running down her face - apparently - and also even one of Princess Charlotte that everyone was saying she was crying, and we don't know if it was true or not."

As Stefanovic cast doubt on Meghan's tearful display with the word 'apparently', Langdon smiled nervously then offered him a knowing look.

Meghan wept as she watched Queen Elizabeth II's coffin being carried out of Westminster Abbey in London on Monday evening, as she stood alongside other members of the royal family.
