Introducing the latest "Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter"

<p>Celebrating a royal milestone, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is thrilled to stand alongside the Queen and Prince Charles for this special occasion.</p> <p>Camilla has been formally invited into the oldest order of chivalry in the UK, the Order of the Garter.</p> <p>The royal milestone took place in a private ceremony in the Garter Throne Room in Windsor Castle. Going forward, the duchess will be formally acknowledged as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter.</p> <p>Reportedly, the duchess was "very pleased" to have the honour bestowed upon her and to celebrate the momentous occasion, Camilla, Charles and Her Majesty appeared in a royal portrait together.</p> <p>Camilla was wearing an ostrich plume hat while she and Charles were both donned in traditional velvet robes. The Queen, who continues to struggle with mobility issues, stood in the middle of the royal couple wearing her Sovereign of the Garter sash and could be seen holding a cane.</p> <p>The official portrait is both a celebration of Camilla's achievement as well as a signal of the future of the monarchy. It comes after the Queen's announcement earlier this year that it was her "sincere wish" that <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/family-pets/queen-consort-prince-charles-responds-to-her-majestys-announcement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Camilla will become Queen Consort</a> once Charles takes the throne.</p> <p>Meanwhile, the Duke of York, Prince Andrew was banned from appearing at the ceremony. The senior royals reportedly told Her Majesty they would "pull out" of the royal event if the disgraced prince was given a public role. They feared "backlash" and insisted the Queen change the plans.</p> <p>Andrew was told to stay out of sight "for his own good" following the tense family orders, however an unknown source close to the Duke insisted that it was his own "personal decision" not to appear in public.</p> <p><em>Image: Getty</em></p>

Royal biographer reveals Camilla's nickname for Meghan Markle

<p>Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, branded Meghan Markle “that minx” and thought she was “ungrateful”, a royal expert claims.</p><p>Royal biographer Tom Bower has claimed that the two duchesses have never seen eye-to-eye. Future Queen Camilla is reportedly “suspicious” of the intentions of Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.</p><p>He believes that Camilla, 74, remained “tight lipped” with her opinions of Meghan after she was brought into the Royal Family by her stepson.</p><p>There has been complete silence from Prince Harry and Meghan after the Queen announced Camilla would be known as Queen Consort when Prince Charles, aged 73 becomes King.</p><p>Mr Bowers believes that their silence was “deliberate” and an “insult” to the Royal Family.</p><p>“Perhaps the Sussexes’ deafening silence is Meghan’s way of declaring war.” He said.</p><p>“It is believed that she has never liked Camilla, and I am sure the feelings are reciprocated. She found it hard to believe that Meghan would sacrifice her career and independence to serve silently as a team player devoted to the monarchy."</p><p>“But, as in all her conduct, Camilla remained tight-lipped. While watching Charles painfully believe that Harry was intent on publicly humiliating him, Camilla undoubtedly provided the comfort and good advice to reassure her husband that he had done the best he could.</p><p>“She could comfort him that while his authority is challenged by the Sussex’s, he would emerge victorious."</p><p>“During those inevitably endless, tortured and inconclusive conversations, Camilla is the sort who would refer to Meghan as ‘that minx’ — the self-seeking troublemaker whose antics will always end in tears.”</p><p>In an address marking her Accession Day, Her Majesty, 95, said it was her “sincere wish” that the Duchess of Cornwall will be known as Queen Consort.</p><p><em>Image: Getty</em></p>

Camilla's first appearance since the Queen's announcement

<p>The Duchess of Cornwall has made her first public appearance since Queen Elizabeth asked that Camilla be called ‘Queen Consort’ after Prince Charles takes the throne.</p><p>The comments were made by Her Majesty on the eve of her Platinum Jubilee and just days later, Camilla resumed her royal duties with a big smile as she worked the crowd.</p><p>The Duchess visited the town of Bath, approximately 185 kilometres west of London, for two special engagements - starting at a primary school, where students welcomed her waving mini Union Jack flags.</p><p>While visiting Roundhill Primary School, Camilla planted a tree for the Queen's Green Caonpy initiative with the 10-year-old "Eco Team".</p><p>The 74-year-old joined a number of classes with pupils of all different ages including a small reading group of 10 and 11-year-olds, as well as a group making fruit smoothies and a 'Language for Life' class for three-year-olds.</p><p>The Duchess was then treated to a short performance of a new song learned for the occasion, called 'We Are Proud of Our School'.</p><p>The five to 11-year-old students performed this in the Main Hall, before the royal unveiled a plaque to commemorate the visit.</p><p>In the afternoon, Camilla visited charity VOICES and met people with lived experience of domestic abuse, to understand how VOICES works with survivors and overcomers of abuse on their journey of recovery.</p><p>The Duchess has long been a champion of women's safety and is Patron of domestic abuse charities.</p><p>After touring the support spaces at The Villa, the royal met two of the centre's counsellors followed by a few long-term clients.</p><p>The Duchess then attended a small reception, where she unveiled another plaque to commemorate the visit.</p><p>On Saturday, Queen Elizabeth made her wishes clear about the future of the monarchy, calling it her "sincere wish" for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort and asked the public to show the couple the same support given to her and Prince Philip over the years.</p><p>"When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service," the Queen said in a statement from Sandringham House.</p><p>Prince Charles humbly accepted his mother's wishes in a congratulatory message on Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee on Sunday, while simultaneously praising his "darling wife".</p><p>"We are deeply conscious of the honour represented by my mother's wish," Prince Charles said in a statement from Clarence House.</p><p>"As we have sought together to serve and support Her Majesty and the people of our communities, my darling wife has been my own steadfast support throughout."</p><p>Princes William and Harry are said to have supported the monarch's decision but are yet to speak publicly on it.</p><p><em>Images: Getty</em></p>

Duchess Catherine tears up as she makes an emotional vow

Duchess Camilla makes acting debut in charity project

<p>The Duchess of Cornwall has performed her first ever character role since joining the British Royal Family as she joined Oscar winners for a charity reading.</p> <p>Appearing alongside Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi and actors Lupita Nyong’o and Josh Gad, Duchess Camilla took part in the sixth episode of<span> </span>James and the Giant Peach, with Taika and Friends<span> </span>on YouTube.</p> <p>“I’m not much of an actor but I’ll do my best,” Camilla told Waititi, a New Zealand filmmaker, before she began reading the Roald Dahl classic from her Birkhall residence.</p> <p>The Duchess played the part of the Ship’s Captain in the story. One of her lines read: “Holy cats! Send a message to the Queen at once! The story behind Duchess Camilla’s engagement ring

<p>Whenever she makes a public appearance, Duchess Camilla is never seen without a special piece of jewellery: her engagement ring from Prince Charles.</p> <p>The ring, which has adorned Camilla’s left hand since her royal engagement in February 2005, is an art deco design featuring a five-carat emerald cut diamond at its centre and diamond baguettes on each side, placed on a band made from traditional Welsh gold.</p> <p>At the time, Clarence House confirmed the ring was a royal family heirloom. It is believed to have come from the Queen Mother’s collection, <em><a href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a32465831/camilla-engagement-ring-prince-charles/">Town &amp; Country</a> </em>reported, with the monarch being seen wearing the piece in the 1980s.</p> <p>The ring is one of many jewellery pieces the Duchess of Cornwall owns from the Queen Mother’s collection. Another adornment that is on Camilla’s hold is the Greville Tiara, which was inherited to Queen Elizabeth II and placed under <a href="https://www.harpersbazaar.com/wedding/bridal-fashion/g23656976/best-royal-family-jewelry-of-all-time/?slide=4">a long-term loan to the Duchess</a>.</p> <p>Camilla tied the knot with Prince Charles on April 9, 2005, with a civil ceremony at the Windsor Guildhall and a marriage blessing at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.</p>

Prince Charles expresses concerns for his grandchildren’s future as climate change reaches “tipping point”

<p>Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla have been warmly welcomed to New Zealand for the first day of their official Royal tour with a traditional Māori greeting known as a “hongi”.</p> <p>The couple touched down in Auckland on Sunday before throwing themselves into a full day of engagements on Monday morning. </p> <p>They both attended the Queen’s Colour Ceremony at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Whenuapai Airbase, where they learnt about the traditional Māori welcome, which is known as Pōwhiri. </p> <p>It is a ritual that was experienced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, not too long ago, when they arrived in Wellington, New Zealand for their tour in October. </p> <p>Following the ceremony, the Duke of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall did not let bad weather stop them from attending The Queen’s Colour, the highest honour a sovereign can bestow. </p> <p>During the 1953-54 royal tour of New Zealand, Queen Elizabeth II presented her Colour to the RNZAF. </p> <p>The presentation was made at the same air base on December 28, 1953. </p> <p>As the Colour is now worn, a replacement has been received and was formally presented to the Duke and Duchess. </p> <p>Earlier in the day, the royal couple had the opportunity to sample some of the area’s finest wine while visiting the Hunting Lodge - a site where the first Sauvignon Blanc grapes were grown in New Zealand. </p> <p>While doing this, they also learnt of the lodge’s “Paddock to Table” approach, which aims to produce as much food onsite as possible. </p> <p>The lodge also strives to source additional products purely from local businesses and resources. </p> <p>Farmer Richard Kidd, who provides lamb grown at Kaipara Farms, spoke to the Prince of Wales. </p> <p>"We spoke about the lamb and I thanked him for being an advocate of wool, which is down on price at the moment," Kidd said. </p> <p>"However, the price of lamb is doing very well."</p> <p>Prince Charles has spoken up about the importance of sustainability and waste reduction in the last decade, and on Monday got to visit Critical Design, a company using innovative technology to turn plastic waste into reusable materials that will manufacture other products.</p> <p>Tuesday is just as busy for the Prince and Duchess, who will be meeting Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her partner, Clark Gayford.</p> <p>The royal couple is in New Zealand for an eight-day tour, their first to the country since 2015.</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scroll through the gallery to see the royal couple on Day 1 of their New Zealand tour. </span></p>

Royal Family’s emotional gathering for Remembrance Sunday memorial

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Queen shed a heartfelt tear for Britain’s war heroes at a Remembrance Sunday service. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As Britain fell silent, Her Majesty watched on alongside the Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge on the balcony of the Cenotaph in Central London. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The royals saw the traditional wreath-laying service as Prince Charles laid a wreath of poppies on behalf of their 93-year-old mother as thousands gathered around in Whitehall for the ceremony. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Duchess Meghan attended the event alongside her husband Prince Harry and stood alongside Sophie, the Duchess of Wessex and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Other high profile politicians were also in attendance including Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, Home Secretary Priti Patel and Commons leader Jacob Rees Mogg. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A two-minute silence was observed across the UK at 11am. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The silence was swiftly followed by the firing of a gun by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Over 10,000 veterans then marched past the memorial following the service.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Royal Family’s official Instagram account shared a quote from English poet John Maxwell Edmonds which read: "When you go Home, tell them of us and say, For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today".</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scroll through the gallery to see the Royal Family attending the Remembrance Sunday service. </span></p>

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla announce new details of New Zealand tour

<p><span>Clarence House has revealed new details on the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s upcoming visit to New Zealand.</span></p> <p><span>Prince Charles and Camilla will be touring the country from November 17 to 23. The couple will begin their trip in Auckland, where they are set to meet with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and learn about programs supporting youth and environmental causes.</span></p> <p><span>From there, the two will visit Waitangi Treaty Grounds and meet Māori people. This will mark the prince’s first trip to the Treaty Grounds since 1994.</span></p> <p><span>The royals will also go to Christchurch, the site of the two terrorist attacks in March and the earthquakes in 2011. Ardern said Prince Charles and Camilla will be able to see “how the community has rallied to support those affected by the March 15 terrorist attacks”.</span></p> <p><span>Aside from Christchurch, the couple will also set foot in Kaikōura. “The effects on the community of the 2016 earthquake will also be seen first hand at Kaikōura,” Ardern said.</span></p> <p><span>“I look forward to welcoming Their Royal Highnesses back to New Zealand.”</span></p> <p><span>This will be the Cornwalls’ third royal tour of New Zealand.</span></p> <p><span>On November 23, the duchess will fly back to the UK while the prince travels to Tuvalu and the Solomon Islands to focus on environment and climate-change related issues. This will be his first time visiting the Islands, and his first trip to Tuvalu in 49 years.</span></p>

The votes are in! Can you guess who the world’s most popular royal is?

<p>A new poll from 9,404 interviews has revealed just who exactly the most popular royal is - and the results may or may not surprise you. </p> <p>The British public was asked to rate their favourite royal member. </p> <p>Queen Elizabeth, followed by her grandson, Prince Harry, was voted the most beloved and well known. </p> <p>The British monarch may be Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, but that definitely doesn’t mean she has fallen out of favour with her people. </p> <p>The public described Her Majesty as “admirable, hard working, respected, dignified and dedicated,” and was rated at 72 per cent of respondents reporting a positive opinion of her.</p> <p>The royal rated higher with women at 77 per cent, and with the Baby Boomer generation - she topped at 78 per cent. </p> <p>Prince Harry. 34, and Prince William, 37, came in at  a close second and third place. The Duke of Sussex came in at a 71 per cent overall rating while his big brother, The Duke of Cambridge was 69 per cent. </p> <p>Not too far behind was Duchess Kate, Prince Philip, along with Duchess Meghan and Prince Charles following. </p> <p>After Prince Charles, who is considered the 7th  most popular royal member, a list of lesser known members are listed. Duchess Camilla pens emotional letter to domestic abuse survivors

<p>The Duchess of Cornwall has written an emotional letter to survivors of domestic and family violence.</p> <p>The 72-year-old penned the note to show her support for the upcoming Stand Up to Domestic Abuse conference in the UK. She went into detail about the “shocking prevalence of domestic violence which affects so many people in this country and leaves some in fear of their lives”.</p> <p>Camilla decided to lend her voice after she was approached by Rachel Williams, the organiser for the event whom she met through her work with charity SafeLives.</p> <p>Rachel is a survivor of domestic violence, which she endured for 18 years at the hands of her husband.</p> <p>Darren shot and beat her before committing suicide after she filed for divorce in 2011. A few weeks later, she lost her 16-year-old son Jack to suicide also.</p> <p>The conference is set to take place on September 13 at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.</p> <p>Rachel’s story had a profound effect on the Duchess.</p> <p>“It is a testament to her courage that she was able to write her book<span> </span><em>The Devil at Home</em><span> </span>to spread the word about the reality of living with domestic abuse,” she wrote in the letter.</p> <p>The conference is the first of its kind to be run by survivors in Wales, as victims will work hand-in-hand with police and social services.</p> <p>Camilla wrote: “I’m sure [the survivors’] stories will remind everyone that there is still much to be done, but I hope that the conference will also inspire positive steps to tackle [the abuse].”</p> <p>The 72-year-old is a passionate advocate for those who have suffered domestic abuse, organising a reception in 2016 at Clarence House on the issue. She met Rachel and other survivors earlier that year and was pictured in tears.</p> <p>Speaking to<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.hellomagazine.com/" target="_blank"><em>HELLO!</em></a><span> </span>magazine, Rachel says that having the Duchess’ support is “important” because it “brings it up to another level”.</p> <p>“She is really encouraging me to get my voice out there, which in turn gives a platform for those who have not had their story heard before, which is why I’m doing the conference,” she said. “There is no shame for the victim and survivor. Duchess Camilla celebrates her 72nd birthday – and meets donkeys William and Harry!

<p>The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles, celebrated her 72nd birthday at The Donkey Sanctuary in Devon yesterday.</p> <p>She was there with her husband, Prince Charles, and they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Donkey Sanctuary, which gives lifelong care to over 6,000 donkeys and mules.</p> <p>As the visit coincided with her birthday, July 17, the sanctuary gave her a present and invited the Duchess of Cornwall to name the sanctuary’s new foal, who is just three weeks old.</p> <p>She decided on the name Sweatpea.</p> <p>The Duchess of Cornwall was welcomed by an entire herd of donkeys and mules upon the royals' arrival to the sanctuary and were greeted by a pair of donkeys called William and Harry.</p> <p>After visiting the Donkey Sanctuary, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles headed to the UK National Park’s Big Picnic celebration in Exmoor National Park.</p> <p>The event was marking 70 years of UK National Parks and at the end of the visit, the guests sang “Happy Birthday” to the Duchess of Cornwall. Duchess Camilla’s helicopter near “seconds from disaster”

<p>New reports have claimed a helicopter carrying the Duchess of Cornwall was just “seconds away from disaster” twice in the same year.</p> <p>The allegations have said Duchess Camilla was travelling in Sikorsky S76 from the Queen's Flight when the aircraft veered away to avoid mid-air collisions while flying with the 71-year-old.</p> <p>The royal was being flown from Sandringham to her home in Wiltshire when the alleged incident occurred.</p> <p>The second incident happened while the helicopter was getting ready to land 45 minutes after the first event and had to make yet another manoeuvre to avoid a glider.</p> <p>The pilot reportedly said he was fortunate enough to have spotted the glider from half a mile away as he had “been flying into the sun.”</p> <p>These alleged incidents have been reported in the UK Aiprox Board Reports and happened on July 25, 2018 after the Duchess visited the Sandringham Flower Show with her husband, Prince Charles.</p> <p>The Prince of Wales is believed to have been in Norfolk when the events reportedly took place and Duchess Camilla boarded the flight to Anmer Hall.</p> <p>The helicopter took flight at 1.11 pm and later an air traffic controller RAF Marham, Norfolk said the risk of collision had been “high.”</p> <p>The report by UK Aiprox Board found the DHC-6 pilot should have informed RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk of the two incidents on Duchess Camilla’s flights however he forgot due to it being his eight flight of the day.</p> <p>RAF Marham reportedly informed RAF Lakenheath to remind other aircraft to keep away from the Royal Flight.</p> <p>RAF Lakenheath made “numerous” attempts to contaxt the DHC-6 pilot, who failed to respond as he was “distracted by passengers in the back.”</p> <p>Buckingham Palace and Skydive Chatter declined to comment to the<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7244703/Camillas-helicopter-swerve-avoid-collisions-TWICE-one-hour-flew-home.html" target="_blank">Daily Mail.</a></p>

She looks pained,” one person took to Twitter to say.</p> <p>“William looks like he smelled something terrible. They don't look thrilled to be there.”</p> <p>Another wrote Duchess Kate “definitely had a forced smile.”</p> <p>The Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland were a few members or the small 30 guests present for baby Archie’s baptism, along with Princess Diana's sisters, LadyJane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, who are pictured in the official photo.</p>

Happy 50th anniversary! Palace releases new portraits of Prince Charles

<p>Two new portraits of Prince Charles have been released by the Buckingham Palace to mark the 50th anniversary of his investiture as the Prince of Wales.</p> <p>The 70-year-old royal was invested with the title by the Queen on July 1, 1969 at Caernarfon Castle when he was 20 years old.</p> <p>To mark the occasion, Clarence House published two new photographs, one of the Duke of Cornwall and one with his wife Duchess Camilla.</p> <p>“This portrait of The Prince of Wales has been released to mark the 50th anniversary of His Royal Highness’s Investiture,” Clarence House wrote on Instagram.</p> <p>“The photo was taken at Llwynywermod, The Prince and The Duchess’s home in Wales.”</p> <p>The second picture, featuring the Cornwall couple, was taken outside the residence.</p> <p>The Duchess of Cornwall told PA news agency at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Swansea’s city status that her husband was celebrating the anniversary “quietly”. </p> <p>Swansea was granted <a rel="noopener" href="https://people.com/royals/prince-charles-wales-week-camilla/" target="_blank">city status</a> after Charles was invested as Prince of Wales.</p> <p>Upon being asked how the prince would be marking the milestone, she said, “Another anniversary I know – celebrating quietly.”</p> <p>The new pictures came at the end of Wales Week as Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are completing their annual tour in the country.</p> <p>Scroll through the gallery above to see the striking new portraits, as well as Charles over the past 50 years in his role as the Prince of Wales. </p>
