"Out cold": Hugh Grant naps through Wimbledon drama after chat with the Queen

<p>It was one of the hottest matches of the Wimbledon quarter-finals – on court and apparently off – but for Hugh Grant, it may have been just a little too warm and soothing.</p> <p>The ever-dashing <em>Love Actually</em> star, 64, became an unlikely viral sensation this week after he was caught on camera nodding off in the Royal Box during the men’s quarter-final clash between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli.</p> <p>Yes, while Djokovic and Cobolli were trading blistering shots, Grant was trading consciousness for a peaceful snooze, head tilted, sunglasses on and dreams possibly filled with tennis balls and polite applause.</p> <p>The moment, of course, did not go unnoticed. BBC cameras captured the actor mid-slouch, just moments after he’d been spotted chatting amiably with Queen Camilla – which, let’s be honest, is probably exhausting work for anyone before lunch.</p> <p>He had arrived at the All England Club with his wife, Anna Eberstein, both appearing in good spirits as they smiled, mingled and did all the necessary celebrity waving required in the Royal Box. But somewhere between “Hello Your Majesty” and “Advantage Djokovic”, the siren song of a padded seat and 26-degree heat proved too powerful.</p> <p><em>BBC Sport</em> couldn’t resist sharing the snoozy spectacle on social media, posting the clip with the caption: “It’s all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant,” along with the obligatory laughing and sleeping emojis. Predictably, the internet went berserk.</p> <p>Outrage quickly rallied among the very-online tennis purists. “COBOLLI I think HUGH GRANT owes you a massive apology,” one dramatic viewer huffed, as if the actor had personally insulted the sport with a stray snore. Another lamented, “T**ts like him… don’t deserve [Wimbledon tickets]!!!” – bold words from someone tweeting from a beanbag chair.</p> <p>But many others simply delighted in the absurdity. “Hugh Grant asleep in the Royal Box is the best thing I’ve seen at #WIMBLEDON this year!! Dave Hughes almost gets into a scrap at Wimbledon

<p>Aussie comedian and radio larrikin Dave “Hughesy” Hughes has revealed he nearly served up more than just sass at the Wimbledon Championships, almost landing himself in a centre court-style showdown with a particularly chatty Brit.</p> <p>Taking to Instagram with a video of himself and teenage son Rafferty enjoying the match on Court 15, Hughesy shared the moment they almost made it onto the evening news for all the wrong reasons.</p> <p>“Nearly got into a punch-on at Wimbledon,” he captioned the post, clearly relishing the drama like it was a fresh scone at high tea.</p> <p>The pair had been watching Aussie battler Jordan Thompson grind out a gutsy five-set win when a local lad behind them apparently decided it was the perfect time to run his own live podcast commentary – loudly.</p> <p>“It was a very small court,” Hughesy explained, “and this English bloke behind us just would not shut up through the match.”</p> <p>Eventually, the usually mild-mannered funny man had enough and politely asked the man to pipe down. The response? Actress Regina Sorensen cheered, “Go you good thing”, while one commenter claimed they were in the row in front: “Love that you didn’t back down! Crowd totally had your back! He hardly said a word for the rest of the match!!”</p> <p>Comedian Rove McManus, never one to miss a punchline, chimed in with: “Good to know your fans are everywhere.”</p> <p>No word yet on whether Hughesy plans to return next year – but if he does, the All England Club might want to issue complimentary noise-cancelling headphones for all patrons. Cricket icon dies just days after receiving King's Birthday award

<p>The cricket world is in mourning following the death of David “Syd” Lawrence, the pioneering fast bowler who became the first British-born Black cricketer to play for the national side. Lawrence, 61, passed away after a brave battle with motor neurone disease, a diagnosis he received just last year.</p> <p>The former Gloucestershire star, remembered as much for his generosity and spirit as for his fearsome pace, was recently awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours. It was recognition that filled him with pride in his final months. “It is not something I ever thought would sit after my name,” he said just last week. “I am absolutely delighted that it will do so for however long I am here and will be a part of my legacy when I am gone.”</p> <p>Lawrence’s family confirmed his passing in a statement filled with love and sorrow. “’Syd’ was an inspirational figure on and off the cricket field and no more so than to his family who were with him when he passed,” they said.</p> <p>Tributes have poured in from across the cricketing world. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) described Lawrence as a “trailblazer” and a man who made an “indelible mark” on the sport. ECB chair Richard Thompson reflected on his extraordinary legacy: “David ‘Syd’ Lawrence was a true trailblazer of English cricket and a man of immense courage, character, and compassion. His impact on the game extended far beyond the boundary ropes... Even in the face of his illness, David showed extraordinary strength and dignity, continuing to uplift others with his resilience and spirit. He leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who love cricket. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the entire cricketing community at this time.”</p> <p>Lawrence’s international career, which promised so much, was cruelly cut short by a devastating knee injury during England’s 1992 tour of New Zealand. He played five Tests but left an unforgettable impression, not least for his fiery pace and unrelenting passion.</p> <p>His beloved Gloucestershire Cricket Club, where he played 280 matches over 16 years and later served as president, expressed their devastation. “Gloucestershire Cricket is devastated to learn of the passing of former player and Club President, David ‘Syd’ Lawrence MBE, aged 61. Sir Becks at last? David Beckham reportedly set for long-awaited honour

<p>After years of waiting patiently – and sometimes not-so-patiently – David Beckham may finally get to swap his football boots for a ceremonial sword, with reports suggesting the former England captain is about to be knighted by King Charles III.</p> <p>"Sir" David Beckham could be a reality as soon as next week, with the British icon, 50, tipped to feature in the King’s Birthday Honours list. If confirmed, it’s a moment decades in the making – and not just in his dreams.</p> <p>The honour would also see his equally iconic wife rebranded as Lady Victoria Beckham. One assumes she already had the wardrobe for the role.</p> <p>Beckham, who received an OBE in 2003 for services to football, has long been linked with a knighthood. The rumour mill really got going in 2022, when Becks queued for an astonishing 13 hours to pay respects to Queen Elizabeth II. Admirable dedication – or, as some joked at the time, a very British form of long-game lobbying.</p> <p>Despite his chivalrous queueing efforts, he was passed over yet again in this year’s New Year Honours. That round saw knighthoods go to the likes of Stephen Fry, Gareth Southgate and Sadiq Khan - leaving Beckham still on the bench.</p> <p>But royal insiders now say his time may have finally come. Former royal butler Paul Burrell, always good for a regal soundbite, told <em>The Express</em> that Beckham was being “kept dangling for a while”, but added confidently: “Of course, it’s going to happen. The question is, when.”</p> <p>Well, Sir Paul (not that one) – it seems when is now. The knighthood is expected to recognise Beckham’s outstanding football career – as in, you know, captaining England and winning basically everything with Manchester United – as well as his impressive charitable work. From UNICEF to grassroots football, Beckham has been putting in the off-field hours too.</p> <p>Should the news be confirmed, expect front pages, formalwear and perhaps a cheeky photo of Becks adjusting his new sash just so. As for Lady Posh? Huge update in Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman's divorce

<p>Deborra-Lee Furness has officially filed for divorce from Hugh Jackman, nearly two years after the couple publicly announced their separation following 27 years of marriage.</p> <p>According to documents reportedly submitted in New York on May 23, the Australian actress moved forward with the legal process after reaching a behind-the-scenes agreement with the <em>X-Men</em> star. Sources close to the matter say the divorce is uncontested, meaning both Furness and Jackman have agreed on all terms.</p> <p>“A settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with, which includes a handsome spousal support payment,” a source <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14754391/Deborra-Lee-Furness-files-divorce-Hugh-Jackman-fortune.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told the Daily Mail</a>. “There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, [Deborra] got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.”</p> <p>The insider added that the 69-year-old actress has found the “closure she needed”, with the next step being final approval from a judge.</p> <p>Furness and Jackman share two adopted children: Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19. The divorce follows months of reported tension over the division of the couple’s estimated $250 million fortune. In March, insiders claimed that Furness was delaying proceedings over dissatisfaction with Jackman’s initial financial offer. However, the newly reached settlement appears to have resolved those disputes.</p> <p>The couple first announced their separation in September 2023, releasing a joint statement: “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”</p> <p>While no official reason for the split was confirmed, rumours of a rift had been circulating for some time. Around the time of the separation, speculation grew over Jackman’s alleged affair with his <em>Music Man</em> Broadway co-star Sutton Foster. Sources claimed the two developed a deep connection during the show’s run from December 2021 to January 2023.</p> <p>Foster, 50, filed for divorce from her second husband, screenwriter Ted Griffin, in October 2024 after ten years of marriage.</p> <p>Furness has also reportedly been focusing on personal healing. Kochie reportedly eyeing off top job in AFL

<p>Port Adelaide chairman David Koch is reportedly positioning himself to succeed Richard Goyder as the next AFL chairman, in a potential shake-up that could ripple through both the league and the Power’s leadership structure.</p> <p>According to veteran journalist Damian Barrett, Koch, who has chaired Port Adelaide since 2012, is “eyeing off” what is widely regarded as the most powerful position in Australian rules football.</p> <p>“David Koch, along with Ken Hinkley, has transformed this footy club from what it once was, but he is eyeing off a potential spot on the AFL Commission as well,” Barrett said on <a href="https://wwos.nine.com.au/videos/afl/david-koch-could-depart-port-for-juicy-afl-role/cmavnwl5200240hns3gw35cke" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nine’s Footy Classified</a>. “Not just a spot on the commission, but potentially to be the chair of it.”</p> <p>The current AFL chairman, Richard Goyder – also the former Qantas chairman – has led the AFL since 2017, succeeding Carlton great Mike Fitzpatrick. While many within the league had expected Goyder to step down when his current term ends in early 2026, The Age reported in late 2024 that he is seeking another term, which would extend his tenure until 2028.</p> <p>This ambition reportedly blindsided several AFL clubs, who were under the impression a leadership transition was imminent. Goyder has served on the AFL Commission since 2011, and prominent football figures are now calling for a change.</p> <p>“After serving the game admirably as a commissioner since 2011 and chairman since 2017, it's simply time for Richard Goyder to pull up stumps, this year,” Brownlow Medallist Gerard Healy told SEN. “At worst, orchestrate a 12-month handover to the incoming chairman, who can get to work immediately.”</p> <p>Barrett suggested that Koch’s potential move to the AFL Commission – and possibly into the chairman’s seat – adds to the uncertainty surrounding Port Adelaide, especially as the club prepares for life after long-serving coach Ken Hinkley.</p> <p>“I raise that as part of the backdrop of instability and uncertainty at Port Adelaide as it wades through this Ken Hinkley to Josh Carr transition,” Barrett said. “You’ve got the chair of the club also unknown.”</p> <p>Koch, a former TV presenter best known for co-hosting <em>Sunrise</em>, has played a key role in Port Adelaide’s revival over the past decade. <p>David Beckham has kicked off his 50th birthday celebrations in grand style, hosting a star-studded black-tie affair at Miami's Cipriani Downtown. While his official birthday isn't actually until May 2, the football legend decided to start the festivities early, surrounded by family, friends and an incredible lineup of sports icons.</p> <p>The guest list read like a who's who of the sports world. Inter Miami stars Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets were in attendance, alongside NFL quarterback Tom Brady and NBA giant Shaquille O'Neal. Beckham hilariously noted his height difference in a photo with Brady and O'Neal, captioning it, "I’m so small". "Patrons yelled to stop": Comedy Festival rocked by death on opening night

<p>Melbourne’s comedy scene was rocked by tragedy on the opening night of this year’s International Comedy Festival, as an attendee suffered a fatal medical episode mid-show, leading to the abrupt cancellation of the event.</p> <p>The distressing incident occurred during comedian Michael Hing’s performance at the Palais Theatre, where a man on the upper level of the venue suffered a medical emergency. Attendees quickly responded, providing CPR in the dark while Hing remained unaware of the unfolding crisis.</p> <p>“[It] would have been at least 15 mins worth before the show stopping, and [it] only stopped as patrons yelled to stop performing,” one audience member told <em>The Daily Mail</em>.</p> <p>Another witness expressed dismay over the handling of the situation, stating, “I can’t believe they [the organisers] didn’t communicate with backstage to halt the show, and that it took the public to yell out to the comedian to stop for something to happen.”</p> <p>The Melbourne International Comedy Festival addressed the incident in a statement posted on Instagram, confirming the show’s cancellation.</p> <p>“Melbourne International Comedy Festival regrets to confirm that there was a medical emergency while the Opening Night Allstars Supershow was taking place this evening at the Palais Theatre,” a festival spokesman said. “The show was stopped and cancelled. The Festival will be in touch with all ticket holders tomorrow.”</p> <p>Victoria Police later confirmed the man’s death. “Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a man in St Kilda on Wednesday, 26 March,” a spokesman said. “Emergency services were called to a theatre on Lower Esplanade about 9pm. A man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.”</p> <p>Health worker Andrea Bortoli, who was sitting in the upper level’s front row, described the distressing scene as people began leaving and it “became quite obvious that someone was getting CPR. It was just obviously really distressing, so we wanted to leave,” she told <em>The Age</em>. </p> <p>Eventually, the theatre lights were turned on, and patrons were informed that the show had been cancelled.</p> <p>The Allstars Gala is one of the most anticipated nights of the festival, bringing together some of the biggest names in comedy. Dave Hughes finally confronts Kyle Sandilands in on-air ambush

<p>On Thursday morning, Australian radio’s greatest long-running feud got the surprise intervention nobody saw coming – except maybe Jackie O, who orchestrated the whole thing like a puppet master with a microphone.</p> <p>Jackie O shocked her KIIS FM co-host Kyle Sandilands by bringing in a “mystery guest”, a title that in this case translates to “someone Kyle would rather not speak to before breakfast”. That guest? None other than Australian comedian Dave Hughes, with whom Sandilands has been beefing since approximately the invention of sliced bread (or, more accurately, 2007).</p> <p>“I had a bit of apprehension,” Jackie admitted, as if unleashing an old nemesis on her co-host was a last-minute decision rather than a premeditated ratings bonanza. And fair enough – over the years, Sandilands and Hughesy have clashed at awards shows, on social media and even <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/music/dave-hughes-ruthless-stab-at-kyle-sandilands" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in a recent interview</a> where Hughesy announced to the world that he had "no empathy" for Sandilands.</p> <p>But the most shocking revelation of the day wasn’t the feud itself – it was the fact that one of their biggest online spats was started by none other than Jackie O herself. When she mentioned the duo’s "2009 Twitter feud", Sandilands – who has never had a Twitter account – looked baffled. A comment so extreme that even Kyle himself had no recollection of making it – though, to be fair, it’s probably not the first nor the last time Kyle has forgotten saying something controversial on air.</p> <p>“Look, I know you could afford to have me killed – and I could afford to have you killed – but we’re not going to do that,” Hughesy quipped, proving that humour can, in fact, be the best conflict resolution tool.</p> <p>With the beef officially squashed (or at least put on simmer), Hughesy bid farewell, but not before dropping yet another unexpected bombshell. When Sandilands asked if he still kept in touch with their <em>Masked Singer</em> co-star Lindsay Lohan, Hughesy recalled a moment so bizarre it might just be the greatest mystery in Aussie celebrity history.</p> <p>“The funniest moment of my life was driving along in the country on a Sunday and getting a call from Lindsay – she said ‘I want to go on your radio show right now, because Dannii Minogue’s trying to ruin my life.’ It was a Sunday!” Hughes revealed.</p> <p>And just like that, we were gifted another unexpected celebrity feud: Lindsay Lohan vs. Dannii Minogue – a battle that, unlike Kyle and Hughesy’s, had been lurking in the shadows all this time. What exactly did Dannii do to warrant Lohan’s dramatic distress call? Did she steal her spotlight? Refuse to share a hair straightener? These are the questions that will now keep Australia up at night.</p> <p>But for today, at least, we can rest easy knowing that Kyle and Hughesy have finally found common ground. Baywatch actress passes away aged 61

Dave Hughes' ruthless stab at Kyle Sandilands

<p>Dave Hughes has taken a verbal flamethrower to Kyle Sandilands and his less-than-rockstar status in the Melbourne radio market, leaving viewer and commentators stunned.</p> <p>The popular TV and radio star, comedian and professional truth-bomber recently sat down with the <a href="https://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/dave-hughes-revealed-why-he-has-no-empathy-for-kyle-sandilands/news-story/0d34b5e8e106e7b78772b42d6d3b4bf7" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Herald Sun</em></a> and, in between deep sighs of relief at no longer being beholden to radio ratings, delivered some choice words about the industry, his axed show and, of course, his long-time Sydney rival, Sandliands.</p> <p>Hughesy, whose breakfast show Hughesy, Ed & Erin was unceremoniously booted off the airwaves last year, made it clear that he’s not losing any sleep over the fate of The Kyle and Jackie O Show’s Melbourne expansion woes.</p> <p>“And now I think that we’re finding that out. It’s just habits. You can be a rock star in one city and the other city cannot give a flying f**k about you because they didn’t have the habit for you,” Hughes explained.</p> <p>And if you were wondering whether Hughesy might have a shred of sympathy for Sandilands, let’s clear that up right now: "I don’t really have any empathy because Kyle doesn’t have any empathy for anyone. If he’s on air he’ll just slag everyone off, including me. So I’ve got no empathy at all. I couldn’t care less to be honest.”</p> <p>In fact, Hughesy’s concern seems to be exclusively reserved for the shareholders, because, as he so eloquently put it: “They are the ones who are bloody bleeding.”</p> <p>Sandilands, of course, had confidently predicted that he and Jackie O would dominate Melbourne radio by the end of 2024. That prediction aged about as well as milk left out in the sun, as the final ratings for last year told a harsh truth: The Kyle and Jackie O Show finished in sixth place, with a 5% market share – trailing far behind Jase and Lauren from Nova, who soared with an 11.5% share. To put it in perspective, Kyle and Jackie O lost 24,000 listeners in Melbourne. That’s a lot of people collectively saying, “Yeah, nah.”</p> <p>Of course, in their homeland of Sydney, the duo remains a powerhouse, finishing the year with a strong 13.5% audience share. But in Melbourne? It’s a different story – a story that Hughesy is gleefully watching unfold, popcorn in hand.</p> <p>Beyond the Kyle-bashing, Hughesy also took a swing at the entire radio ratings system, calling it out as nothing more than an elaborate magic trick.</p> <p>“When the ratings work for you, it’s like ‘this is a great system’ and when they don’t you say ‘this system is broken,’” he quipped. “It’s all smoke and mirrors, basically.”</p> <p>And with that, Hughesy rides off into the sunset, free from the shackles of radio ratings, leaving Kyle Sandilands to wrestle with his Melbourne flop. One thing’s for sure – if Hughesy ever returns to radio, we know who won’t be getting a sympathy card.</p>

Hugh Jackman performs touching duet with Aussie schoolmate

Dave Hughes reveals I’m A Celeb weight loss

<p>Dave Hughes spent 25 days in the jungle for this year's season of<em> I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! </em>and despite being eliminated, his three-and-a-half weeks of camp life had a staggering effect on his body.</p> <p>“I lost eight kilos and I’m stronger now than when I went in there,” he told <em>news.com.au</em>.</p> <p>He explained that when he first joined the show he struggled to do laborious tasks like carrying a crate of firewood back to camp without assistance.</p> <p>“I’d be holding one side of the crate while my fingers almost snapped off, with another burly bloke like (former NRL player) Sam Thaiday on the other side,” he said.</p> <p>“But by the end of the month, I’m carrying the whole crate on my own. My fingers are loving the task. I’m just living my best life.”</p> <p>He also made progress in the "jungle gym" a workout station contestants could use to keep fit. </p> <p>“There was a bench press there and on the first day, the heaviest weights, I could do 20 (reps). Hollywood legend's cause of death revealed

<p>Renowned filmmaker David Lynch, best known for directing <em>Dune</em>, <em>Blue Velvet</em>, <em>Mulholland Drive </em>and the unforgettable <em>Twin Peaks</em> series passed away on January 16 at the age of 78. Now, his cause of death has been officially confirmed.</p> <p>According to TMZ, which obtained Lynch’s death certificate from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the legendary director died from cardiac arrest due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Dehydration was also listed as a significant contributing factor.</p> <p>Lynch’s family shared the news of his passing on social media last month: “It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch,” the family’s statement on Facebook read. “There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the doughnut and not on the hole.’”</p> <p>In the days leading up to his death, Lynch had been affected by the deadly wildfires near Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles. However, his longtime producer, Sabrina Sutherland, confirmed that he had safely evacuated his home at the time.</p> <p>Lynch had been battling health issues for years, having been diagnosed with emphysema in 2020. In a November 2024 interview with <em>People</em>, the filmmaker admitted that he relied on supplemental oxygen for daily activities. He also reflected on his decades-long smoking habit, which began at the age of eight and ended in 2022.</p> <p>“What you sow is what you reap,” Lynch said at the time. “You’re literally playing with fire. It can bite you. I took a chance, and I got bit.”</p> <p>His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from Hollywood stars, including actor Kyle MacLachlan, who worked with Lynch on <em>Dune, Blue Velvet </em>and <em>Twin Peaks</em>.</p> <p>“Forty-two years ago, for reasons beyond my comprehension, David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big-budget movie,” MacLachlan wrote on Instagram. “While the world has lost a remarkable artist, I’ve lost a dear friend who imagined a future for me and allowed me to travel in worlds I could never have conceived on my own.”</p> <p>Naomi Watts, who starred in <em>Mulholland Drive</em>, also paid tribute, sharing her heartbreak over Lynch’s passing: “My heart is broken. My Buddy Dave… The world will not be the same without him,” she wrote on Instagram. Wild claim about Hugh Jackman romance

<p>Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have confirmed their relationship earlier this month, and as the couple ramp up their public appearances together, it has been reported that prior to getting together, they took their respective spouses on double dates.</p> <p>Jackman and Foster grew closer while starring together in the Broadway musical <em>The Music Man</em> from December 2021 until January 2023.</p> <p>Now, an insider has revealed to the <em>Daily Mail </em>that Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-lee Furness, would enjoy date nights together with Foster and her ex-husband, Ted Griffin.</p> <p>The source also said that after every performance of their show the pair would share an "uncomfortably" long embrace in front of everyone. </p> <p>“It was odd,” they continued. “In a way it was uncomfortable.
