John Travolta's heartbreaking tribute years after losing wife and son

<p>John Travolta has shared a heartbreaking post commemorating his late wife, Kelly Preston, and son, Jett Travolta. </p> <p>Jett was only 16 when he passed away while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas in 2009. Joyous news as injured policewoman walks again after huge fundraiser

<p>Ella Cutler, the brave WA police officer who faced a <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/police-officer-in-critical-condition-after-terrifying-cliff-fall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">life-threatening fall in Europe</a> just three months ago, has triumphantly walked out of the hospital, defying all odds. The inspiring journey of her recovery, coupled with the overwhelming support from a generous community, has captured the hearts of thousands of people around the country and even further afield.</p> <p>On that fateful day in Croatia, Ella's world took a devastating turn when she plummeted several metres from a wall at a popular tourist spot (image below), leaving her body shattered. Doctors initially gave her a mere five percent chance of survival, painting a grim picture for the spirited detective constable. However, Ella's determination, coupled with the unwavering support of her family and a compassionate community, has defied the bleak prognosis.</p> <p>Amid the challenges, Ella faced yet another hurdle as her insurer denied funding for both medical costs and the flight back to her home in Perth. The reason? She had been enjoying a night out and had a few drinks on the ill-fated evening. Undeterred by this setback, Ella's family launched a fundraiser to bridge the financial gap, and the response was <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/positive-news-for-injured-wa-police-officer-in-croatia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nothing short of extraordinary</a>.</p> <p>The community rallied together, pouring in close to $530,000 in donations from across the country. Smiling, talking and walking with the aid of crutches and braces, she left rehabilitation at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch, just south of Perth. The joy in her eyes and the gratitude in her words were palpable as she expressed her thanks to the thousands who contributed to her recovery.</p> <p>"Thank you so much for bringing me home. Your kindness is overwhelming," Ella said, her words echoing the sentiments of a grateful heart.</p> <p>Ella, accompanied by her family, recently met with WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch, displaying an unwavering determination to return to the job she loves. Despite a laundry list of injuries, including fractures to her skull, spine, ribs and limbs – as well as punctured lungs – Ella remains undaunted. Positive news for injured WA police officer in Croatia

<p>A fundraiser set up for a WA police officer who was injured in an<a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/police-officer-in-critical-condition-after-terrifying-cliff-fall" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> unfortunate cliff fall </a>reached its $500,000 target. </p> <p>Ella Cutler was left fighting for her life after falling off a cliff top while on vacation in Croatia, and her loved ones set up a GoFundMe to help pay for her medical bills and bring her home via air ambulance. </p> <p>Now, Ella is out of the ICU with horrific injuries to her body, including her head and spine.</p> <p>Her friends and family members have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from strangers who donated, and said that Ella still has a "long road" to recovery, with many surgeries to go. </p> <p>"There's been people that have donated, which is just so heartwarming to see Ella's story has really touched them," friend and fellow police officer Constable Dani Morrison said. </p> <p>"They've never met her and they still donated."</p> <p>Ella will undergo another surgery next week before she can fly home to Perth. </p> <p>Ella, and a 34-year-old Australian man were both injured after they fell 10 metres from a cliff near Fort Lovrijenac, in the Dubrovnik suburb of Piles on August 26.</p> <p>Her family have asked for donations after revealing that Ella's travel insurance denied her claim. </p> <p>As of today, the <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-help-us-bring-ella-home#xd_co_f=NDIzY2U3YjUtNTQ2Yi00MjhjLWEwNTMtNGNhZTMyZmNiMzc0~" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GoFundMe</a> has raised $517,125. </p> <p><em>Image: WA Police</em></p>

John Travolta’s iconic suit snatches a sweaty sum at auction

<p>John Travolta’s sweat stains have hit the market, snagging a staggering sum, alongside the iconic <em>Saturday Night Fever</em> white three-piece suit.</p> <p>The look rose to international fame when Travolta - as Tony Manero - took to the dancefloor in the 1977 classic, joining Stephanie Mangano for an intense disco dance competition. </p> <p>But it was the film’s promotional imagery that truly immortalised the suit - despite popular, yet incorrect, belief that Travolta had flaunted it during his solo ‘Night Fever’ dance. In posters - as well as on VCR, DVD, and CD covers - Travolta can be seen with his right arm in the air, on a dancefloor, white polyester front and centre. </p> <p>As Costume designer Patrizia von Brandenstein explained to the <em>New York Post</em>, they were looking for “a white, three-piece suit: dressy, inexpensive and polyester. There was a producer who thought a black suit would be more elegant. But heroes wear white; it’s as simple as that. </p> <p>“The pastel suits were nice and pretty, but John’s character is very much a hero. Plus, it needed to be something that a boy who works in a paint store would be able to afford. I think the suit sold for $150 or $200.”</p> <p>Initially purchased off the rack in Brooklyn for $100, the jacket - with matching waistcoat, flared trousers, black shirt, and Travolta’s 45-year-old sweat stains - was expected to fetch up to $250,000 USD (~$374,000 AUD) when it went under the hammer at Los Angeles’ Julien’s Auctions.</p> <p>Despite its distinct lack of a thorough cleaning, the suit did find a new home, with a buyer dishing out a total of approximately $388,692 AUD to call it their own.</p> <p>As a spokesperson for the auction house explained, “This suit is considered to be one of the most iconic costumes in cinema history. It is one of only two known to exist that was used during production. It has never been exhibited or sold at auction before.</p> <p>“It has become emblematic of not only the film but of the whole disco era.”</p> <p>The suit in question was actually one of a few purchased by the film’s costume designer - two were used on set, rotated in and out while the other dried, and another was used for promotional material - and was given to Julien’s Auctions by an anonymous collector who had received it from <em>Saturday Night Fever</em>’s director, John Badham in 1991. </p> <p>As for why the iconic outfit was being sold in its unique condition, the executive director of Julien’s Auctions had a simple explanation. </p> <p>“The sweat is how you know it’s authentic,” Martin J Nolan told <em>The Guardian</em>.</p> <p>“It was incredibly hot during filming, so you can still see the sweat marks around his waist. "Happy Birthday my Olivia": John Travolta's touching message

<p dir="ltr">Olivia Newton-John's <em>Grease</em> co-star John Travolta has wished her a beautiful tribute for what would have been her 74th birthday. </p> <p dir="ltr">The actress would have celebrated her 74th birthday on September 26 but unfortunately lost her battle to breast cancer on August 8. </p> <p dir="ltr">John Travolta wished Olivia a loving tribute on his Instagram story with a photo of the pair in the classic 1978 musical movie.</p> <p dir="ltr">The photo showed the pair as lovebirds Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson with the caption, “Happy birthday my Olivia”.</p> <p dir="ltr">Olivia’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi also marked the special day with an intimate dinner with close family and friends. </p> <p dir="ltr">She shared a video of the event with everyone wishing Olivia a “happy birthday mama”.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; "Your Danny": John Travolta's touching tribute to Olivia

John Travolta's son adopts puppy from the Oscars ceremony

<p>John Travolta's daughter Ella has surprised her online followers with a rare look into her secret talent. </p> <p>Ella Travolta, 21, shared a video of her playing an original song on the piano as she sang along to the melody. </p> <p>Ella said she has been working on the the song for a while and felt "nervous" to share it with her followers. </p> <p>She captioned the video, "There is something I've been working on for the past year that is very dear to my heart."</p> <p><span>"I wanted to share a part of a song that I wrote that will be on my EP coming out next year. John Travolta recalls heartbreaking conversation with son over Kelly Preston

And I went through the differences about my longevity and her limited life," he continued.</p> <p>"I said, 'But you know, Ben… You always love the truth and I'm going to tell you the truth about life. Hollywood A-lister made Hugh Jackman clean up vomit in his trailer

<p>The Hollywood star wasn’t happy when Hugh Jackman’s best mate since kindergarten – Gus Worland - vomited in his trailer and he made the Aussie actor clean it up.</p> <p>Worland recapped the whole story on KIIS FM’s <em>Kyle and Jackie O Show</em> today and then he challenged listeners to call in and guess who the Hollywood star was.</p> <p>The incident happened in the earlier days of Jackman’s career when Worland was visiting Jackman on a movie set. One of Jackman’s co-stars invited them both to have a drink in his “much bigger trailer”.</p> <p>Worland said he walked into the trailer “… and it’s got a Cuban cigar in each corner with a cigar cutter … and there’s a tub of drinks and stuff.”</p> <p>“We sit down and start having a conversation and I’m struggling to get the words out because I’m so excited that I’m in his company,” Worland said about Jackman’s co-star.</p> <p>Worland’s nerves got the better of him and he said he was “drinking a little bit too quickly” and he found himself not feeling well, he said on the radio show.</p> <p>“Jacko’s looking at me going: ‘Are you OK, mate?’ I said, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine.”</p> <p>But he wasn’t. He added: “I’m smoking this cigar, I’m drinking these drinks and I’m hammered within an hour. John Travolta lists $5 million scenic mansion after death of wife

<p>John Travolta has listed his home on Islesboro, off the coast of Maine in the U.S, following the death of his beautiful wife and actor, Kelly Preston.</p> <p>The 67-year-old Hollywood heavyweight listed the mansion for AU$6.3 million after the pair originally bought the stunning property in 1991.</p> <p>Together they turned a “very dark and sombre” home, according to the Portland Press Herald, to a bright family home made to entertain and raise their children.</p> <p>The sprawling home originally built in 1903 has plenty of space with over 10,830 square feet and 20 bedrooms.</p> <p>With the estate being perfectly situated along the ocean, mesmerising views are not hard to come by.</p> <p>Kelly Preston was a highly acclaimed actor who worked alongside some of the world’s most famous talents. She died in 2020 after a secret two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57.</p>

John Travolta's nephew dies just months after wife's passing

<p>Just three months after John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston passed away, the movie star is now grieving the passing of his nephew.</p> <p>Sam Travolta, a screenwriter and the son of Travolta's brother Sam Snr, passed away on September 23rd in his home in Wisconsin, USA.</p> <p>The cause of his death is not yet known, but Sam Jr's high school friend said that he would be "greatly missed, but he will always be with us."</p> <p>"I found out through high school friends, they reached out to me to let me know. We had a great time when we used to hang together in high school," Mavrostomos said. "Sam was definitely proud of being related to John Travolta. He was happy-go-lucky and a good friend, good-spirited."</p> <p>Sam Jr. spoke fondly of his relationship with his uncle claiming that Travolta would send him a monthly allowance.</p> <p> "I'm a struggling screenwriter living in a tiny one-bedroom apartment, so John's money helps," he told the <em>National Enquirer</em> in 2015.</p>

She is survived by her husband John Travolta, daughter Ella, 20, and nine-year-old son Benjamin. Their son Jett tragically died at 16 on a family vacation in 2009.</span></p> <p><span>On May 11, Ella honoured her relationship with Preston for Mother’s Day.</span></p> <p><span>"Happy Mother's Day to this incredible woman. Beautiful inside and out, hard working and the most amazing mother and wife," she wrote alongside a throwback of the pair. "I love you so much!!! wishing a happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there."</span></p> <p><span>Travolta announced her tragic passing, saying she had lost her fight against the disease.</span></p> <p><span>"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer," John wrote on Instagram today, alongside a photo of Preston. "She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. Kelly's love and life will always be remembered.</span></p> <p><span>"I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don't hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal."</span></p>
