Christina Applegate's Emmy’s appearance moves audience to tears

<p dir="ltr">Christina Applegate has moved audiences to tears after making a courageous appearance at the Emmy Awards. </p> <p dir="ltr">Applegate announced at the beginning of 2023 that she would be taking a step back from acting after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), with the disease making a drastic impact on her life. </p> <p dir="ltr">Now, the 52-year-old took to the stage, supported by a cane, at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Monday night, with the crowd rising to their feet in a round of applause. </p> <p dir="ltr">Applegate immediately began to tear up as she leaned on host Anthony Anderson for support, telling the audience, “I’m gonna cry more than I’ve been crying.”</p> <p><iframe title="YouTube video player" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jOJNgHgKnFs?si=Y8K-e2H8gFq1Pr0u" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p dir="ltr">Keeping her sense of humour, she said to the sea of celebrity faces, “Thank you so much! You’re totally shaming me (and my) disability by standing up.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Applegate presented the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, with the award going to Ayo Edebiri for her role in <em>The Bear</em>. </p> <p dir="ltr">The heartfelt moment of the standing ovation was shared on X, with fans saying, “She deserves that ovation and more.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The iconic actress has been candid about her battle with MS since she was first diagnosed in 2021, keeping her fans updated as her illness progressed. </p> <p dir="ltr">In 2023, Applegate told <em>Vanity Fair</em> that her work on the hit Netflix TV show <em>Dead To Me</em> would be her last as an actor, saying “I can’t even imagine going to set right now.”</p> <p dir="ltr">“I’m probably not going to work on-camera again,” Applegate said at the time, adding that while she loved her cast and crew, working had been a “struggle.”</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p> <p> </p>

Tragic reason Gogglebox favourite won't be returning

We hope this opens up the conversation about dementia, supporting loved ones and the reality of grieving them while they’re still here.</p> <p>What’s best for her now is that she is safe and happy in permanent care just up the road where we visit her every day.”</p> <p>Various members of the <em>Gogglebox</em> cast have reacted to the news on social media.</p> <p>The Daltons posted that they were “sending their love” to the Silberys while Adam Densten wrote, “Love for you all and, of course, for the queen herself”.</p> <p><em>Gogglebox</em> veterans Lee and Keith added, “Keith and I are going to miss her one-liners, her smile [and] her laugh. Olivia Colman tears up during her acceptance speech as The Crown sweeps the Emmys

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman added another accolade to her trophy cabinet this weekend, as she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance of Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Crown.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Colman became emotional during her acceptance speech as she revealed she lost her father during the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-safe Emmys to feature star-studded Aussies

<p>Cate Blanchett, Hugh Jackman and Toni Collette are some of the five Aussies who are up for awards in 2020’s pandemic-friendly version of the <em>Primetime Emmy Awards.</em></p> <p>Jackman is up for best lead actor in HBO’s <em>Bad Education</em> this year.</p> <p>Blanchett is another Aussie up for an award, but this time it is lead actress in FX’s<em> Mrs America</em> in the limited series or movie category.</p> <p>Collette (Netflix’s <em>Unbelievable</em>) and Sarah Snook (HBO’s <em>Succession</em>) are both nominated in supporting actress categories.</p> <p>Tony McNamara is in the running for writing in a comedy series (Hulu’s <em>The Great</em>).</p> <p>Winners at the 72nd annual ceremony will have to celebrate from the confines of their home for health and safety reasons due to the coronavirus pandemic.</p> <p>US broadcaster ABC has said that some trophy presenters “may be visiting some of the winners live” in specially designed hazmat tuxedos.</p> <p>The awards will be live on Sunday night (10 am on Monday AEST).</p> <p>Jimmy Kimmel will be presenting and recording from Los Angeles while nominees, presenters and winners will appear from around the globe.</p> <p>Producers had earlier sent more than 150 video kits to screen talent to help them produce the show at home.</p>

<p>Hollywood’s leading TV actors and celebrities have gathered for the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.</p> <p>The awards show unveiled some iconic fashion moments, with the stars walking down the red carpet in their best garments.</p> <p>Patricia Arquette impressed the crowd with her white LBV dress and clutch, while Catherine Zeta-Jones stunned in a fuchsia Georges Hobeika gown.</p> <p>Naomi Watts opted for a classic look with a black Dior Haute Couture gown and Harry Winston jewelry. Sharon Osbourne also went for black in an Alexander McQueen floor-length gown with gathered sleeves and silver embellishments.</p> <p>Catherine O’Hara donned a black-and-white colourblocked dress by Greta Constantine. Gogglebox milestone: The Silbery family's special celebration

I won’t lie, I was googling how to have sex with a colostomy bag😔🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m becoming quite the ‘bum-cam’ pro, as those in the know call it, having three more polyps cut out yesterday with good results! It’s all been unexpected, I’m still annoyed that my body is growing the C word but relieved I’m on top of things now.
