Royal family shares adorable new photo and video to celebrate Prince George turning 12!

Prince George is all smiles as he celebrates his 12th birthday, and royal fans are loving the charming new photo and video released by the Prince and Princess of Wales to mark the occasion.

In a heartwarming birthday post shared on social media, the royal couple wrote: “Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George! 🎂”, alongside a new portrait of their eldest son. Dressed in a crisp striped shirt and forest-green fleece vest, George leans casually against a wooden gate, a cheeky grin on his face and a handmade friendship bracelet around his wrist, adding a playful, personal touch.

The photo, taken by photographer Josh Shinner, is set against a lush countryside backdrop and shows a confident young royal looking more like his father, Prince William, by the day.

Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George! 🎂
📸Josh Shinner pic.twitter.com/L7hAZXOkDw

— The Prince and Princess of Wales (@KensingtonRoyal) July 22, 2025

Even sweeter, the royal family also treated fans to a behind-the-scenes video of George enjoying time with his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The trio can be seen giggling and playing in the garden, at one point lifting little Louis into the air before marching hand-in-hand toward the camera, grinning from ear to ear.

In one charming scene, the siblings stroll through the greenery together, their close bond on full display. Louis, with his signature toothy smile and khaki jumper, steals the spotlight yet again, a reminder that the footage was likely taken a few months earlier, around his birthday in April.

The candid footage has delighted royal watchers, with many speculating that more adorable snaps from the shoot may still be on the way.

12 today! 🎉 pic.twitter.com/UqYj4Y97QM

— The Prince and Princess of Wales (@KensingtonRoyal) July 22, 2025

As George enters his teenage years, royal fans are also wondering where the future king will attend secondary school. Will he follow in Prince William’s footsteps at Eton, or take after his mum, Princess Catherine, and head to Marlborough College? For now, George continues to study at Lambrook School in Berkshire alongside his siblings.

His last public appearance was at the Wimbledon men’s final earlier this month, and before that, he joined his family on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colour celebrations.

As he steps into this exciting new chapter, one thing is clear: Prince George is growing up fast, and winning hearts while he’s at it.

Images: X (Formerly Twitter)

"Enough is enough": MasterChef star opens up on career scandals

Celebrity chef and former MasterChef Australia judge George Calombaris has revealed the full extent of the personal and professional toll a series of scandals took on his life, including a $3 million hit to his business and a private struggle with alcohol addiction.

In a candid interview on the Ouzo Talk podcast, the once high-flying restaurateur said the fallout from multiple controversies and the pandemic left him at rock bottom.

“After Covid hit, I’m suddenly sitting in Melbourne, which is shut for now two years, sitting with my pyjamas on … looking at my phone going there’s no emails, there’s nothing to do (and I) start drinking daily,” Calombaris said.

“I’ll never forget three months down the track I lost it one night. I got in my car, drove down the road, I don’t know where [I was]. My brother found me pissed as a fart.

“And that was a moment, he really slapped it out of me and went enough is enough.”

Calombaris rose to fame as a judge on MasterChef Australia in 2009, quickly becoming a fan favourite and building a multimillion-dollar hospitality empire. But by 2017, his reputation began to unravel after a string of public scandals.

That year, he was caught on camera shoving a 19-year-old football fan at the A-League grand final. The incident led to an assault charge, which was eventually overturned in 2018 on appeal. Calombaris was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond and the conviction was struck from his record.

“It was six months of pain you know, I had to go in and out of court three times, hire one of the best KC’s of the time,” he said. “I reckon it cost around 3 million bucks that, in loss of endorsements … Ridiculous, stupid, I would have rather taken that $3 million and given it to charity.”

In 2019, Calombaris and his hospitality group, Made Establishment, admitted to underpaying roughly 500 current and former staff members $7.8 million over six years. The revelation sent shockwaves through the industry and the public.

“We love in Australia [to] never let the truth get in the way of a good story,” Calombaris said. “The truth of the matter is that we overpaid and underpaid 51 per cent of our crew and 49 per cent of them, we had 550 team members and we found the problem.”

“We went to Fair Work, we owned up and we paid.”

The company repaid staff wages and superannuation and was fined a $200,000 “contrition payment” by the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Later that year, Calombaris and fellow judges Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan left MasterChef after a breakdown in contract negotiations. Then came the pandemic.

Alone, unemployed, and with Melbourne in lockdown, Calombaris spiralled, until a wake-up call from his brother forced him to confront his drinking and begin to rebuild his life.

His story now serves as a sobering look at the cost of fame, failure and, ultimately, recovery.

Images: Instagram

Aussie couple set to give away $3.5 billion

Billionaire Canva co-founder Cameron Adams and his wife Lisa Miller have pledged to give away at least half of their estimated $7 billion fortune, calling on Australia’s wealthiest to follow suit in the fight against environmental degradation.

The philanthropic commitment will see the couple funnel significant resources into green initiatives via The Giving Pledge and Founders Pledge – two global efforts that encourage billionaires and entrepreneurs to donate a substantial portion of their wealth to impactful causes.

“Nature nourishes us, sustains us, inspires us and shapes how we live,” Mr Adams wrote in his letter to The Giving Pledge, the global charity initiative co-founded by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates. “But today, many of the ecosystems that support our lives are being destroyed – and our future depends on how we choose to save them.”

Adams, who co-founded the homegrown tech success Canva in 2013, and Miller, a former zoologist turned entrepreneur, say their focus will be on reversing biodiversity loss and restoring natural ecosystems, which they see as critical to the survival of life on Earth.

“Philanthropy is more than charity; it is a means of addressing systemic issues, driving meaningful change and ensuring that future generations inherit a world rich in possibility and biodiversity,” Mr Adams said.

The couple’s wealth is largely tied up in Canva equity, with the company currently valued at around AU$49.5 billion (US$32 billion) and reportedly considering a NASDAQ listing in 2026. Canva’s other co-founders, Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht, joined The Giving Pledge in 2021.

The new pledge by Adams and Miller follows earlier environmental commitments by the couple, including the establishment of Wedgetail Ventures, an eco-investment fund backing conservation projects and local communities. They also own a 5000-hectare property in Tasmania, now being developed into a conservation research centre in partnership with the University of Tasmania.

“In recent years, we have grown in our confidence that these are issues worth fighting for, and that we can make a unique contribution with the funds and skills that we have,” Mr Adams said.

Lisa Miller echoed the sentiment in joint statements, underscoring the importance of bold, scalable efforts in the environmental space. “We must not only halt nature’s decline but also begin its restoration,” she said.

Through Founders Pledge, the couple joins a growing network of tech entrepreneurs including Spotify’s Magnus Hult, Culture Amp’s Jon Williams, and Klarna’s Niklas Adalberth. The organisation has attracted over 2,000 members across 45 countries, with more than US$1.5 billion (AU$2.3 billion) already donated from pledged funds.

“Entrepreneurs are uniquely placed to transform the world,” Founders Pledge states. “We advise on, facilitate and maximise the impact of our members’ giving.”

The Adams-Miller announcement adds to a growing number of high-profile philanthropic moves by Australian billionaires. Mining magnate Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest and his former wife Nicola were among the first Australians to sign on to The Giving Pledge back in 2013.

“As a family, we agreed many years ago to give away the majority of our wealth,” the Forrests said at the time. “We felt that if our children were to inherit considerable wealth, it would only get in the way of them striving for and achieving their best.”

Adams hopes his and Miller’s decision will spark a wider cultural shift among Australia’s wealthiest. “We hope others will recognise the power of philanthropy to create lasting environmental and societal impact by joining us in this commitment,” he said.

Image: Wedgetail

According to a statement released by Brett and his wife, Jessica, through the Yankees organisation, Miller had fallen ill during the trip along with several relatives. The family did not disclose further details about the nature of the illness or their location at the time.

“We have so many questions and so few answers at this point,” the grieving parents shared. “Miller was a beloved son and brother, and we cannot yet comprehend our life without his infectious smile.”

Brett and Jessica, who also share an older son, Hunter, requested privacy as they mourn and seek healing. Devastated mum warns of flu dangers after losing 11-week-old son

A heartbroken mother is pleading with Australians to get vaccinated against the flu this season after losing her 11-week-old son to the virus.

Samantha Miller, 37, from Bathurst, NSW, was in the hospital battling her own illness when she received a devastating phone call – her infant son had also fallen ill. By the time he reached the hospital, it was too late.

“I came down quite ill, so I ended up in hospital, and then we got a phone call saying he’d been brought into hospital not breathing, and we found out that he’d passed away,” Ms Miller told news.com.au.

It has been 13 years since her son’s tragic death, but the pain remains fresh. Now, she is using her heartbreaking experience to encourage others to get vaccinated against the flu.

“It took a little while to get some autopsy results, but it came back with bronchial pneumonia caused by H1N1 swine flu,” Ms Miller said, describing the loss as an unimaginable shock.

Her son had been seen by a paediatrician the day before his death and had shown no serious signs of illness beyond a runny nose. A photo from the night before, showing the baby peacefully asleep on his grandfather’s chest, still haunts her.

“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my entire life. I would not wish it on anybody … it’s been 13 years and it hurts as if it was yesterday,” she said.

Determined to prevent other families from suffering the same heartbreak, Ms Miller is now an advocate for flu vaccinations.

“I know what it’s like to lose a child to influenza, and vaccination can help prevent other families from going through what we have been through for the past 13 years,” she said. She believes that there is a lack of education about the importance of vaccinations and the dangers of influenza, leading to misinformation and vaccine hesitancy.

“Why are some people pushing for anti-vaccination when the numbers are there? They need to look at the data and get a vaccination. I mean, it’s easy enough … take ten minutes out of your life to get the vaccination,” she urged.

Ms Miller also highlighted the strain that preventable illnesses place on the already overwhelmed healthcare system. “Anyone who ends up in hospital is putting a strain on the health services that are already under strain,” she said.

With flu season approaching, her message is clear: vaccination saves lives. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can help prevent other families from experiencing the same devastating loss.

Images: Courtesy of Samantha Miller

George Negus' son shares heartbreaking update on his dad's condition

The son of TV legend George Negus has shared a devastating update on his father's health, two years after his Alzheimer's diagnosis was made public.

In a heartbreaking post shared to LinkedIn, Ned Negus revealed that his father is now non-verbal due to his illness, and is living in an aged care facility in Sydney.

“I was hesitant to post this on LinkedIn, as it’s pretty personal,” Ned, who is Chief Commercial Officer for the A-League, began in a lengthy post shared on Father’s Day. “But then realised you’re all humans and there’s always a place for sharing human realities with your professional network.”

He continued, “For those of you who don’t know, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s around five years ago. Sneaky zoom call hints at secret new MasterChef style project

Hold onto your spatulas – the culinary world just got a sneak peek into the top-secret virtual rendezvous of the original MasterChef judging squad, and let's just say, the excitement is sizzling hotter than a pan of frying bacon.

Celebrity chef and all-around food wizard George Calombaris shook the internet like a well-shaken cocktail when he decided to share a teensy snippet of a recent clandestine Zoom chat with his former kitchen companions, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston.

And although the video quality was about as polished as a well-worn wooden spoon, it was the content that had tongues immediately wagging as Preston playfully poked Calombaris about his dessert tastes being as "daggy" as a dad joke at a barbecue. And George, bless his apron-wrapped heart, heartily agreed: "The daggier, the better. As daggy as we are on this Zoom call," he clapped back.

Captioned with all the mystery of a burrito's secret ingredients, the post read, "Some serious food talk for a very special project. But mostly just a lot of shots and giggles." Shots, giggles, and maybe a sprinkle of culinary magic – sounds like our kind of party.

Since its release, the post has gone viral, racking up more views than there are slices in a pizza and comments flowing in like a chocolate fountain at a dessert buffet.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by George Calombaris (@gcalombaris)

Just in case you've been marooned on a desert island with nothing but spam and a can opener, let's rewind a bit. George, Gary, and Matt were the original trio of culinary divinities who ruled MasterChef with their tastebuds and witty repartee for an entire decade.

Fast forward to 2019 when the MasterChef cosmos decided to shift its cosmic culinary alignment, and boom! The trio was out, leaving fans with their mouths agape, much like when you taste-test something expecting sugar but get salt instead. CEO Paul Anderson cited "unsatisfactory commercial agreement negotiations" at the time – it's like a fancy way of saying, "We couldn't agree on the paycheck, folks."

Rumour had it, that the judges asked for a 40% raise, basically demanding a pile of dough the size of a well-risen soufflé, to the tune of $1.5 million each for just one more season. Talk about giving the term "food for thought" a whole new meaning.

And what's life been like after the MasterChef limelight? Well, Preston had a brush with reality TV stardom in Dancing With The Stars, but his dance moves were as graceful as a turkey trying to tango. Then, there's Gary and Matt, who teamed up for a show called Plate of Origin, which sadly got served a big ol' rejection slip by the audience.

And let's not forget George – his restaurant group got slapped with a whopping $200,000 fine for underpaying staff to the tune of $7.8 million. But they did fess up and pay up, so it's not all choppy waters in this seafood feast.

In a podcast confessional, George shared, “We found the issue, we owned up, we paid back. A lot of the story that people don’t write about because it’s not cool enough or doesn’t get a headline is that we actually overpaid 49 per cent of our workforce that we never asked the money back for, and I wouldn’t of. I think the tough thing for me was, I thought by owning up, it’s the right thing to do, that’s how I grew up. So for me, that was probably the thing that hurt the most, being called a ‘thief’. I’m proud of how we acted, I’m proud of what we did to fix the problem.”

So, following the leaked Zoom call, a sprinkle of kitchen drama and a trio of culinary legends ready to sauté their way into a new foodie escapade, it appears there is nothing left for us to do but stay tuned with our daggiest dessert forks at the ready.

Images: Instagram

George Calombaris bans "racist" diner

Celebrity chef George Calombaris has publicly slammed a diner's "racist" review of his Victorian restaurant, The Hellenic House Project, and banned them from visiting his business.

The diner left a negative Google review of the restaurant yesterday, claiming that it was the "Worst 'non' dining experience ever!"

The diner claimed they had to wait six weeks for a booking to arrive at the first sitting, and had issues with the manager who they ordered food from.

They alleged that after 45 minutes of waiting for their food to arrive, they had to find a waiter themselves and was told the manager had "forgot" to put in the order.

"Typically, we weren't offered any compensation except that our food would be out in 5 mins. Which it wasn't. I should've realised it was going to be a disaster when I had to ask for the menu after 10 [minutes]," wrote the customer.

"Like others, we've dined in many, many restaurants and were keen to try this 'authentic Greek' experience. It was far from it.

"Practically none of the staff were Greek (including' the Manager who was of Indian descent) and the menu didn't reflect what has been posted online. Calombaris - this place is a joke and you've certainly got a few people fooled," they concluded.

They gave a one out of five star rating for everything.

The celebrity chef hit back at the scathing review by posting a screenshot of it on Instagram with the caption: "Won't lie. I am 99 percent a very positive human. But this is horrible.

"Yes. We made a mistake with your order. We are humans. And yes my manager is Indian. You know who you are guys. Groom’s tragic update after bride killed on wedding day

A US man whose bride died on their wedding day after an alleged drunk driver rear-ended their golf cart is recovering at home and planning his wife’s funeral, his family revealed.

Aric Hutchinson, from South Carolina, suffered severe injuries, leaving him with bleeding in his brain, two broken legs, facial fractures and a broken vertebrae in his back, according to a post on GoFundMe, written by his mother, Annette Hutchinson.

The 36-year-old and his new wife, Samantha Miller, 34, had just left their wedding reception when the accused drunk driver Jamie Komoroski crashed her car into the golf cart the newlyweds were riding on. Ms Miller sadly died instantly. Two family members on the same golf cart suffered injuries.

Ms Hutchinson shared that her son is now “physically recovering at home while trying to come to terms with the loss of his beautiful wife. Now he is doing the unimaginable of planning Sam’s funeral along with her family”.

“We are missing Sam more than anything. She instantly fit into our family from the first day Aric and Sam met. She was everything to my son and changed him for the better,” she continued.

“She could light up a room with her presence and had an ease about her. They shared many hopes and dreams for their future, including children and building a house.

“What started as the happiest day for Aric and Sam ended with a tragedy … our hearts are broken along with the Millers’.”

Ms Komoroski has been jailed without bond, and charged with three counts of driving under the influence causing death and reckless vehicular homicide. Authorities claimed the 25-year-old was driving at 104km/h in a 40km/h zone and reportedly only hit the breaks of her Toyota Camry right before the crash.

Ms Komoroski told police she had consumed a tequila shot and one beer an hour prior, but refused to take a field sobriety test following the collision. A blood test was later conducted at a hospital, the results of which have not been released.

In a statement to Fox News, Ms Komoroski's lawyers urged the public not to “rush to judgement”.

Ms Miller’s mother Lisa revealed her heartbreaking final exchange with her beloved daughter.

Speaking to WCIV, Lisa Miller said that “on the beginning of the golf car ride, [Samantha] said, ‘I wish this night could go on forever.’”

“[It was] the best night of her life,” she added.

Ms Miller said she was unaware of “what the distraction was” that caused the accident, but Ms Komoroski “literally ran into my daughter going 65 miles an hour”.

“Sammie and Aric were on the back of the golf cart and so she basically just whammed into my child.”

The bride’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, told WCIV, “That person made a careless mistake. And it’s not a mistake. It is a life-changing event,”

“I never thought it would happen to us and to my beautiful sister, your beautiful daughter and all the 150 people that were there.”

Veteran honoured following Kokoda Track death

Paul ‘Dusty’ Miller, veteran and beloved father of five, has passed away of a suspected heart attack while walking the Kokoka Track.

Paul, who had joined the Australian Army in 1991 and experienced four deployments, had been trekking as part of a fundraising effort by fellow veterans and first responders with the support group Operation Unity SA.

Paul was on the second day of the challenging hike with his 17-year-old son, Aaron, when the tragedy occurred. His partner of 23 years, Amanda, confirmed the devastating news.

“Paul wore many hats - a Father of 5, Partner, Son, Brother, Uncle, mate, Veteran, an even (46th class), sports fan, and a passionate advocate for veterans,” she wrote on Facebook.

“As many of you will know, Paul and Aaron went to Kokoda together last week. Unfortunately on the second day, Paul had what is believed to be a heart attack. Despite all efforts of assistance and of CPR, Paul was airlifted out and it has been confirmed that he had passed away on arrival at the hospital.

She went on to offer thanks for the efforts to revive Paul, and for the safe return of their son, Aaron, before noting that “in true Dusty style, he went out with a bang - doing something that he has always wanted to do … Kokoda.”

Meanwhile, Paul’s daughter Sarah shared her own emotional tribute to social media, writing that her “whole word [was] falling apart.”

“I still don’t want to believe it,” she said. “I still want to believe that Dad will call me and tell me everything will be okay.

“My best friend, my hero, my safety blanket is gone, but I know his memories will live on forever and I will always be meeting people that loved and knew him.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade released a statement of their own to confirm the news, sharing that they were “providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian man who died in Papua New Guinea. We send our deepest condolences to the family.”

When Operation Unity SA shared the news of Paul’s passing - and Amanda’s original post - the late veteran was met with an outpouring of love, with condolences flowing for his family memories, and his surviving legacy.

“He was a colleague, a mate and brother to many. Dusty was always there for others. I will miss my mate and brother. Till we meet again in Valhalla big man,” wrote one friend. “Lest we forget.”

“RIP Ole mate glad [I] had the opportunity to know you and your caring nature,” wrote another. “Thanks for being a part of our lives you will be sorely missed by all mate.”

“All of our love and condolences to Paul's family. Paul was a true champion and a gentleman, who made the ultimate sacrifice serving others, again, for which there truly is no honour great enough,” shared Diving Veterans & First Responders Program.

And as another friend said, everyone would be “sending love and thoughts to your whole family and everyone Paul touched during his life. He was an amazing asset to both the veteran and greater community and will be sorely missed by everyone.”

Images: Facebook
