Ricky Ponting sells long-time beachside mansion

<p>Cricket star Ricky Ponting and wife Rianna have sold their breathtaking beachside property. The 1920s Brighton trophy home was listed in May and is believed to have sold within the range of the $14.8 million-$16 million price guide.</p> <p>The former Aussie cricket captain, who’s currently trading barbs with Kevin Pietersen after Australia emerged victorious in a <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/ice-in-his-veins-stunning-result-in-first-ashes-test" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stunning first Ashes Test</a>, obtained the sale through Forbes Global’s Mike Gibson in partnership with Andrew Smith of BuyerX.</p> <p>Gibson said it was the second property that his firm had sold in Brighton's golden mile, with another eight-figure sale at 12 Dudley St.</p> <p><em>The Herald Sun</em> understands that the home went for more than $20 million.</p> <p>“It’s very interesting that both properties sold to local families,” Gibson said.</p> <p>“Brighton people love their suburb.”</p> <p>The two top-end sales in the affluent Bayside port were indicative of the market’s strength.</p> <p>“That market is alive and well,” Gibson said.</p> <p>However, he did highlight there would be lesser options for sellers as premier listings dropped away for winter.</p> <p>According to PropTrack records, the Pontings bought the seven-bedroom Brighton home for $9.25 million in 2013.</p> <p>“We’re thrilled with the sale of our house, especially to such a lovely family,” the couple told AFR.</p> <p>“It’s a beautiful family home, and we hope they love living here as much as we do.”</p> <p>The sales comes as the pair purchased a $20 million property in Toorak to be closer to their three children’s sporting activities.</p> <p>What drew the Pontings to the suburb was proximity to friends, including former teammate and longtime Brighton resident the late Shane Warne.</p> <p>Ricky retired from full-time cricket in 2012 and soon after sold the family home in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire and went down to settle in Melbourne’s Bayside area.</p> <p>“Landmark residences like this, especially in such a recognised blue-chip address, have a really broad appeal,” Gibson said of the home when it was listed.</p> <p>“Shandford is already one of Brighton’s landmarks but it could evolve from here to become one of Australia’s true residential trophies.”</p> <p>Although the Ponting’s next home in Toorak is smaller than the grand Shandford, it still covers an expansive 1,900 sqm of land.</p> <p>The dimensions and historic detailing are what makes Ponting’s former Brighton home one of the most significant in the neighbourhood.</p> <p>Beyond the elaborate foyer, it includes formal rooms, a timber-panelled study, a modern kitchen with a butler’s pantry and a mammoth home cinema.</p> <p>Outdoors showcase a full-sized tennis court, pool and private laneway to the beach.</p> <p>The Pontings also own a stunning weekender in Portsea, which they bought in 2019 for $3.52 million.</p> <p><em>Image credit: Getty/Realestate.com.au</em></p>

Ricky Martin hits back at “maladjusted” nephew with massive lawsuit

<p dir="ltr">Ricky Martin has filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against his 21-year-old nephew who previously accused the singer of sexual abuse.</p> <p dir="ltr">The suit comes a month after Martin’s nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/finance/legal/truth-prevails-ricky-martin-addresses-nephew-after-harassment-case-heard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">withdrew a restraining order</a> laid against the 50-year-old celebrity.</p> <p dir="ltr">Martin filed the $US 20 million suit on Wednesday, as reported by TMZ, which contains claims from Martin that his nephew is a “maladjusted individual” who would message him up to ten times a day over a four-month period, threatening to “assassinate his reputation and integrity” if he didn’t give him cash.</p> <p dir="ltr">The <em>Livin’ La Vida Loca</em> singer also alleged that Sanchez shared his mobile phone number online and made an Instagram account for one of Martin’s children.</p> <p dir="ltr">He believes he has missed out on lucrative business opportunities, according to the suit, and is seeking the hefty sum for damages.</p> <p dir="ltr">Martin, who parents his four children with husband Jwan Yosef, said he and his family felt “unsafe” in Puerto Rico due to Sanchez’s alleged behaviour.</p> <p dir="ltr">In July, Martin shared a clip explaining why he hadn’t addressed Sanchez’s claims the pair were in an incestuous relationship when they first emerged.</p> <p dir="ltr">“For two weeks, I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following procedure, where the law … obligated me not to talk until I was in front of the judge,” Martin said in the clip while dressed in a suit and tie.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-f5ea56f4-7fff-6297-835b-a33656e0d008"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">Sanchez, who is the son of Martin’s half-sister Vanessa Martin, alleged he and Martin were in a relationship for seven months and that his uncle stalked him at his house following their breakup.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; "Truth prevails”: Ricky Martin addresses nephew after harassment case heard

<p>Ricky Martin’s 21-year-old nephew’s protection order against the popular singer has been dismissed following bombshell incest allegations.</p> <p>Attorneys for Martin, aged 50, have reported that the court in Puerto Rico did not extend Dennis Yadiel Sanchez’s temporary protection order just as they had anticipated.</p> <p>“The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter,” lawyers Joaquín Monserrate Matienzo, Carmelo Dávila and Harry Massanet Pastrana said in a joint statement.</p> <p>“The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case. This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them.”</p> <p>The attorneys concluded: “We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career.”</p> <p>Martin also released a statement himself, via a two-minute video.</p> <p>In the video he explained his earlier silence and spoke directly to his nephew, saying he hopes he “doesn’t hurt anybody else.”</p> <p>“I’m in front of the cameras today because I really need to talk in order for me to start my healing process,” Martin said. “For two weeks, I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following a procedure where the law - the law - obligated me not to talk until I was in front of the judge and got this claims were proven to be false.”</p> <p>“But I’m going to tell you the truth. It has been so painful. It has been devastating for me, for my family, for my friends. I don’t wish this upon anybody. To the person that was claiming this nonsense, I wish him the best - and I wish he finds the help so he can start a new life filled with love and truth and joy - and he doesn’t hurt anybody else.”</p> <p>“Now, my priority is to heal and how do I heal? With music,” Martin continued. “I cannot wait to be back on stage. I cannot wait to be back in front of the cameras and entertain, which is what I do best.”</p> <p>“Thank you to all my friends. Thank you to all the fans who always believed in me. You have no idea the strength that you gave me with every comment you wrote on social media. Ricky Martin responds to allegations of domestic violence

<p>Ricky Martin has responded to shocking accusations of domestic violence, which were publicised by the singer's own nephew. </p> <p>Ricky denies all allegations of domestic violence and incest, which could land him behind bars for 50 years. </p> <p>Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, 21, was identified as Ricky’s accuser in the case over in Puerto Rico, meaning the incident could possibly involve incest.</p> <p>Ricky’s brother, Eric, reportedly identified Sanchez as the alleged victim as Ricky is scheduled to appear in court on July 21st.</p> <p>While it is currently unknown exactly what charges Ricky could be facing, Puerto Rico has much stricter laws on crimes of a sexual nature when the victim and accused are related. </p> <p>The pop star is accused of "exercising physical and psychological attacks" on Sanchez during their seven-month relationship, which ended about two months ago.</p> <p>When reached by <a title="nypost.com" href="https://nypost.com/2022/07/15/ricky-martin-accused-of-incest-in-shocking-puerto-rico-reports/">The Post</a> on Friday, Martin’s attorney Marty Singer said, “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”</p> <p>“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts,” Singer said. </p> <p>Spanish news website Marca reported that Ricky would face up to 50 years if he’s convicted.</p> <p>“The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,” said Ricky’s reps in a statement to People.</p> <p>“We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”</p> <p>Ricky also made a statement on Twitter writing, “The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterise me. </p> <p>“Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. British comedian dies after long battle with cancer

<p>Legendary comedian Sean Lock has died at the age of 58 as many people around the world mourn his loss, stating he was an “influential” comedian for this generation.</p> <p>The celebrity was best known for his deadpan humour when he appeared on the British panel shows <em>8 Out Of 10 Cats</em> and <em>8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown</em>.</p> <p>Lock’s agent confirmed the father-of-three passed away after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.</p> <p>A statement from Off The Kerb Productions said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock.</p> <p>“He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family.</p> <p>“Sean was one of Britain’s finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him out as a unique voice in British comedy.</p> <p>“Sean was also a cherished husband and father to three children. Sean will be sorely missed by all that knew him.</p> <p>“We kindly request that the privacy of his family and children is respected at this difficult time.”</p> <p><strong>Previous battle with cancer</strong></p> <p>In 1990, Lock was diagnosed with skin cancer while he worked as a labourer on a building site but it’s not clear if this was the type of cancer which returned.</p> <p>He went on to make a full recovery and has since worked with others to help raise awareness of the disease.</p> <p>Lock’s final public appearance was in December when he appeared in a video for the charity - Edible London.</p> <p><strong>Many tributes have flooded in</strong></p> <p>Tributes to Lock as a person - and to his prodigious talent - have started flooding in from the comedy world.</p> <p><em>8 Out Of 10 Cat</em>s host Jimmy Carr said: “Brutal news about Sean Lock today. I loved him. I’m watching clips of him right now – laughing &amp; crying. I’ll miss him so much.”</p> <p>Comedian Lee Mack, who was a close friend, paid tribute saying: “I’ve known this day was coming for some time, but it’s no less heartbreaking. A true original both in comedy and life. I will miss him so much.”</p> <p>More British personalities took to social media to pay tribute to him, including Ricky Gervais who posted on Twitter: ‘Such sad news. RIP the great Sean Lock. One of the funniest, most influential comedians of a generation. A lovely man.’</p> <p>Lock’s TV career began in 1993 when he starred alongside Rob Newman and David Baddiel on their signature show <em>Newman And Baddiel In Pieces.</em></p> <p>Lock was also praised for his live comedy and won the gong for best live stand-up at the British Comedy Awards in 2000.</p> <p>In 2005, the comic became a team captain on panel show<em> 8 Out Of 10 Cats</em> and went on to appear for 18 series.</p> <p><em>Photo: Getty Images</em></p>

10-year-old boy dies a hero after rescuing little sister

<p>A 10-year-old boy has died a hero after he tragically jumped into a river to save his little sister after she fell in.</p> <p>Little Ricky Lee Sneve was with his father and siblings at Big Sioux River in Hudson, South Dakota on Saturday when his little sister Chevelle fell into the water.</p> <p>Nicole Eufers, Ricky’s mother, explained that a number of siblings had fallen in and while his father jumped in to get two of them while Ricky went for his sister.</p> <p>Ricky was able to push Chevelle back to the shore, but when his father Chad Sneve turned around, he was missing.</p> <p>"He saved his sister's life and took his own," Ms Eufers told the Argus Leader.</p> <p><img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7841808/ricky-1.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/0e6d3b6df73842e7a0d43da4d2748f33" /></p> <p>Ricky's disappearance led to a large-scale rescue operation.</p> <p>However, only a few hours later, the sheriff's office confirmed they had found the body of the 10-year-old.</p> <p>"We unfortunately have a tragic update to the situation in Hudson," the release said.</p> <p>"The dive team recovered the body of the 10-year-old boy. We ask that you please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.</p> <p>"Our sympathies are with the family and the first responders who assisted in the recovery."</p> <p>A GoFundMe has been set up by Ms Eufers' brother after Ricky's death.</p> <p>"Ricky Lee was a very intelligent and smart young boy who loved his family and was an adventurous little guy," Ricky's uncle Ricky Eufers wrote.</p> <p>"He’d do anything to help his mom or anyone at that, without ever being asked. Ricky gave his life trying to do what he knew was best.</p> <p>"Please help my sister Nicole have some relief in these absolutely difficult times. All donations will be sent to her relief."</p>

There’s nothing scarier.”</p> <p>The MRSA infection left Fletcher in excruciating pain as it took hold of him.</p> <p>“I thought he was going to come out with his whole right side cut out. Luckily, they got it before it got into his flesh and took over his body.”</p> <p>Ponting said he was glad his wife Rianna wasn’t in the room that night because it would still be “haunting her to this day”.</p> <p>He said his family appreciates just how fortunate they were as Fletcher made it out alive out of two potentially fatal situations - especially after their experiences with the Ponting Foundation.</p>

<p>Former Australian cricket captain turned commentator Ricky Ponting has splashed out on a beachside house in Portsea, Victoria.</p> <p>Ricky and his wife Rianna took an educated gamble upon purchasing the house and paid $3.51 million for the four-bedroom mansion.</p> <p>The house itself is close to Fisherman’s Beach and is also close to the famous Portsea Hotel.</p> <p>The home features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a self-cleaning pool, integrated music system and a double lock-up garage. It’s expected that the property will be a home away from home for the Ponting family.</p> <p>It was on the market for 300 days, but Sotheby’s International Realty’s Rob Curtain, who handled the sale, said that this sale reflected general trends in the Portsea market. He told <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.news.com.au/finance/real-estate/melbourne-vic/ricky-ponting-takes-new-wicket-in-portsea/news-story/0de723e78d9c54a6948e3ed3ff2791cb" target="_blank">news.com.au</a>:</p> <p>“The market is tough down here, turnover across the board is well down on previous years,” he said.</p> <p>“We aren’t crowing about it as a record sale, but it is by no means a bargain.
