"If it's not broken, don't fix it": Majority of Australians favour current flag

<p>The majority of Australians want to keep the current design of the national flag, according to a survey by Roy Morgan. </p> <p>The survey asked 1312 Australians whether they thought Australia should have a new design for the national flag, and a majority (61 per cent) said they wanted to keep the current flag featuring the Union Jack, Southern Cross and Commonwealth Star. </p> <p>While many Australians believe that, "If it's not broken don't fix it" according to the survey, the majority support for the current national flag has gone down 5 per cent since 2010. </p> <p>One of the other reasons why respondents backed the current national flag was because of the historical importance and heritage of the flag. </p> <p>"Our ANZACS fought and died under this flag," one respondent to the survey said.</p> <p>Other reasons why people wanted to keep the flag the same include scepticism about alternative flags and concerns about costs of changing the designs. </p> <p>For those who wanted to change the flag, Roy Morgan said there was strong support for removing the Union Jack from the flag because of its colonial symbolism.</p> <p>"Colonial ties to the UK are an embarrassment," one respondent said.</p> <p>"We are no longer part of the empire," another wrote.</p> <p>Australians were also asked if they thought Australia should keep the Monarchy, with 57 per cent saying we should keep it, three per cent less than in 2022. </p> <p>When asked if we should become a republic, 43 per cent agreed, up three per cent since 2022. </p> <p>"Australians are even more attached to the National Flag than the Constitutional Monarchy," Roy Morgan Chief Executive Michele Levine said.</p> <p>"The results of this Roy Morgan SMS Poll on attitudes towards the current Australian National Flag and whether it should be re-designed show a clear split along political lines with the Coalition on one side, the Greens on the other side, and ALP supporters straddling the centre line with large segments advocating for a change and almost as many wanting to retain the current design," she added. </p> <p><em>Image: Shutterstock</em></p>

Former The Voice contestant wins Melbourne Cup

<p>A former <em>The Voice</em> contestant has won the Melbourne Cup. </p> <p>Two years ago, Robbie Dolan, who was in Rita Ora's team, placed in the top 24 of T<em>he Voice Australia</em>, and now he has celebrated an even bigger win after taking home the Melbourne Cup. </p> <p>Dolan, who was born in Ireland and is a keen jockey, first moved to Australia in 2016 when he was still figuring out his career path. </p> <p>“I came here eight years ago with an ambition of just having a crack,” the 28-year-old told the <em>Today</em> show on Wednesday morning.</p> <p>“Really just having a go, working hard and seeing what happens – and I’m sitting here with the Melbourne Cup.”</p> <p>While he had little luck on the reality TV show as he got eliminated in the sing-offs, his horse racing career has been more fruitful. </p> <p>Dolan started his career at the age of 17 in Ireland, where he participated in a nine-month training program and worked as an apprentice for about three seasons before trying his luck in Australia.</p> <p>Both his father and grandfather were successful riders in Ireland and it seems that racing is in his blood, after he and his five-year-old gelding Knight’s Choice pushed past Zardozi and nudged Warp Speed out of the winning spot 20m before the finish line. </p> <p>While he has celebrated the big win, the jockey remains humble as he revealed the key to winning the Cup was "a lot of luck". </p> <p>“You know, I just needed the runs to open in front of me, and thankfully they did," he said on the <em>Today</em> show. </p> <p>Plus, it helps when you've got a “good little horse” like Knight’s Choice. “He’s an underrated little horse and proved a lot of people wrong yesterday.”</p> <p>As for his singing career Dolan may need to give it a rest for the time being, saying: “My voice is half gone from last night." </p> <p><em>Images: Instagram</em></p>

Margot Robbie welcomes first child

<p>Margot Robbie has reportedly given birth to her first child with her husband, British filmmaker Tom Ackerley.</p> <p>According to <em>People</em>, the 34-year-old Australian actress gave birth to a baby boy on October 17 in Los Angeles. </p> <p>Her family is reportedly in the process of planning to travel out to the US.</p> <p>The actress known for her iconic roles in films like<em> I, Tonya, Wolf of Wall Street </em>and <em>Barbie</em>, has kept a low profile throughout her pregnancy, with friends and family also remaining tight-lipped on news of the baby.</p> <p>Ackerley was spotted carrying a box of nappies on the streets of LA on October 30, sparking speculation they had welcomed their baby. </p> <p>Robbie and Ackerley, met on the set of<em> Suite Française</em> in 2013, where he was an assistant director and she starred as Celine Joseph. </p> <p>They then married in December 2016 during a private ceremony in Byron Bay. </p> <p>Robbie's pregnancy was made public in July, with the couple enjoying a romantic babymoon to Sardinia, Italy a month later. </p> <p>The actress made her last red carpet appearance on September 9, when she attended the screening of the comedy movie she produced with her husband. </p> <p>Robbie has previously revealed how much she enjoys working with her husband. </p> <p>“I’m a great advocate of doing business with your partner,” she told <em>Porter </em>in 2018.</p> <p>“Being married is actually the most fun ever, life got way more fun somehow. Clint Eastwood celebrates arrival of new granddaughter

<p>Clint Eastwood's youngest daughter, Morgan Eastwood, has welcomed her first child with husband Tanner Koopmans. </p> <p>The 27-year-old revealed that she'd given birth to a daughter named Cleo two weeks ago in an Instagram post shared over the weekend. </p> <p>"Two weeks with our Cleo," she captioned the post with a series of photos, giving fans their first look at her adorable baby girl. </p> <p>In the first photo, baby Cleo was swaddled in a blanket with a small smile on her face as she slept in the hospital crib. </p> <p>Another photo showed the new parents smiling down at their beautiful bub as they enjoyed a seaside stroll as a family. </p> <p>She included a few other shots of baby Cleo at home with her, Tanner and their beloved bulldog. </p> <p>Family and fans were quick to congratulate the couple. </p> <p>"She’s for real and our lives are already better! So happy for you! What a blessing," another added. </p> <p>The birth of baby Cleo makes the Hollywood legend a grandfather of six. </p> <p>Morgan, who has stayed out of the spotlight and works as a freelance writer, announced her pregnancy back in May with a photo of her baby bump and the caption "Our baby". </p> <p>A month later she tied the knot with Tanner, with her father walking her down the aisle during her intimate ceremony at Mission ranch in Carmel, California. </p> <p>The ceremony was attended by 130 guests, according to the <em>Daily Mail</em>, including Morgan's mum, as well as her seven siblings. </p> <p>Morgan is Clint's only child with Dina before the couple separated in 2012. </p> <p>Prior to his relationship with Dina, Clint had an "open marriage" with Maggie Johnson that lasted from 1953-1984, where they welcomed daughter Allison, 52, and son Kyle, 56. </p> <p>In total the actor has welcomed eight children with six different women. </p> <p><em>Images: Instagram</em></p> <p> </p>

Robbie Williams and wife share heartbreaking family update

<p>Robbie Williams and wife Ayda have been left heartbroken following the death on their beloved dogs, Poupette and Walle. </p> <p>The British pop star, 50, took to Instagram on Friday to share the devastating news, saying that the two dogs died together in their sleep. </p> <p>In a heartfelt tribute to Instagram, his wife Ayda shared that Poupette had been with her for nearly two decades. </p> <p>“Today, our dogs Poupette &amp; Walle left this planet to start an adventure in an infinite galaxy far, far away," she began.</p> <p>“They died together in bed, listening to ‘Dancing Queen’, surrounded by tremendous love.</p> <p>“For those of you who don’t know about Poupette and Walle, here’s some backstory …</p> <p>“Poupette’s been with me 18 years. From the day we met, she was my soulmate. I assumed he’d baulk at the idea of having to take a tiny, white, fluffy dog on the streets, shouting ‘Poupette’ with a Northern English accent," she said.</p> <p>“But, Rob immediately fell in love with her and all of a sudden, the big tattooed, popstar … became a small-fluffy-dog kinda guy.”</p> <p>The couple decided to get Walle a year later, and “from that day forward, on 4th of July, we officially became a blended family.”</p> <p>Their dogs even played a big role on their wedding day in 2010, with Poupette as Ayda's maid of honour, and Walle as Robbie's best man. </p> <p>“Through the years, Poupette &amp; Walle have been there for the birth of all 4 children, multiple tours, countries, &amp; all the ups &amp; downs that life has thrown our way the past 14 years since we said, ‘I do’.”</p> <p>“As time has gone on, we have had to say our sad goodbyes to each of those bridesmaids &amp; groomsmen … Miraculously, Poupette &amp; Walle have held on.</p> <p>“Recently, Rob and I renewed our marriage vows. There’s a lot of things we’re facing now (more on that another time) and we wanted to celebrate what was good in our lives; family &amp; love.</p> <p>“Just as 14 years ago … Poupette was my maid of honor &amp; Walle was Rob’s man.”</p> <p>The star admitted that she would be taking the next few days to grieve over her "fur bestie" and how she loves them "with all her heart." </p> <p>Many fans shared their condolences for the couple, with one writing:  “Oh that is so sad, they will be truly missed! Award-winning documentary filmmaker dies at age 53

<p>Award-winning documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has passed away at the age of 53. </p> <p>Spurlock, who was known for his hit 2004 documentary <em>Super Size Me</em>, died from complications of cancer, according to a statement released by his family. </p> <p>“It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan,” Craig Spurlock, who worked with him on several projects, in the statement.</p> <p>“Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity. The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him.”</p> <p>Spurlock first made waves in Hollywood with <em>Super Size Me</em>: a documentary in which the filmmaker ate McDonald's everyday for a month to document the detrimental physical and psychological effects of fast food.</p> <p>He then returned in 2009 with a sequel documentary titled <em>Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!</em>, which offered a sobering look at an industry that processes 9 billion animals a year in America.</p> <p>Spurlock would go onto to direct numerous documentaries including <em>Where in the World is Osama bin Laden</em> about the US conflict in Afghanistan where he went searching for the now dead terrorist.</p> <p>He also directed a One Direction concert film titled <em>This is U</em>s and the 2011 documentary <em>POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.</em></p> <p>Outside of his film work, Spurlock battled alcoholism, and admitted to once being accused of rape and paying to settle a sexual harassment case.</p> <p>He married three times throughout his life and is survived by sons Laken and Kallen and his wife Sara Bernstein.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Andrew H Walker / Shutterstock Editorial </em></p>

Paul Hogan calls Margot Robbie's Oscars snub a "dull tradition"

<p>Paul Hogan has called out The Academy for their "dull tradition” after Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were snubbed for an Oscar nomination in February. </p> <p>Despite being the only film directed by a woman to earn more than $1 billion at the box office, Robbie and Gerwig were both <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/entertainment/movies/margot-robbie-snubbed-as-oscar-nominations-announced" target="_blank" rel="noopener">snubbed </a>in their respective categories of leading actress and best director during the 96th Academy Awards, which sparked outrage online. </p> <p>Speaking to <em>Sunrise</em> on Friday, the <em>Crocodile Dunde</em>e actor revealed his thoughts on why he thinks both the Aussie actor and <em>Barbie</em> director missed out on a nomination. </p> <p>“To see them not nominated, that’s a sort of like ... a dull tradition of ‘if it’s not about pain and suffering, it can’t be very good’. It’s not fair,” Hogan said.</p> <p>He then praised Robbie, saying: “She’s great — not only is she beautiful and smart, she’s a nice kid, too.”</p> <p>During the interview on <em>Sunrise</em>, Hogan also reflected on the time he hosted the Oscars in 1987, and said that it was good fun. </p> <p>“It was fabulous because I was probably the first person ever allowed on live television to do the Oscars without presenting a script or having anything written on the auto-cue,” he said.</p> <p>“They were very nervous but Samuel Goldwyn, who was the producer, said, ‘I’ve seen him on television. He’s Hoges … let’s just let him go and it’ll be fun for all of us’.”</p> <p>The actor added that while he rarely felt "intimidated", there were a few times in his career where he was starstruck  — most notably when he met the Queen, Princess Diana, and Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor.</p> <p>Hogan's first public appearance was in 1971 at Nine's amateur talent programme <em>New Faces</em>. </p> <p>He rose to international fame after his role as Mick "Crocodile" Dundee in the 1986 film <em>Crocodile Dundee, </em>which won him the 1987 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and a few other nominations at the BAFTAs. </p> <p><em>Images: Seven/ Getty</em></p>

"They lost it": Margot Robbie's surprise encounter with Barbie fans

<p>Margot Robbie has recalled a sweet story about when she overheard a group of men talking about the <em>Barbie</em> movie, before giving them the surprise of their life. </p> <p>At a screening of the <em>Barbie</em> movie in Los Angeles, the Aussie actress told the audience of the heartwarming moment she encountered in Scotland, shortly after the film's release last July. </p> <p>At the SAG-AFTRA screening of the blockbuster movie, Robbie began, “I had this brilliant experience.”</p> <p>“I was in a pub in the middle of nowhere in Scotland and I listened for about 30 minutes to a group of guys on a bachelor party discussing the <em>Barbie</em> movie, not knowing that I was sitting two or three feet away from them.”</p> <p>Robbie continued, “It was just truly fascinating. There were people at the table who refused to see the <em>Barbie</em> movie."</p> <p>“One guy was like, ‘Dude, it is a cultural moment, don’t you want to be a part of culture?’ And the other guy was like, ‘I’ll never see it,’ and by the end he did want to see it. It was a whole thing."</p> <p>“I wasn’t going to go up to them, but then I did.”</p> <p>Before leaving the pub, Robbie casually waltzed up to the group of men who “lost it” when they discovered Barbie herself had overheard their conversation.</p> <p>“At the last minute as I was walking out I went to their table and I went ‘Thank you for seeing the <em>Barbie</em> movie’,” she added.</p> <p>“It was very funny, they lost it. It took a full minute for them to realise and I was practically out the door and they went ‘Ohhhh’.</p> <p>“People’s reactions to the movie have been the biggest reward of this entire experience.”</p> <p>The heartwarming story comes fresh on the heels of Margot being <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/movies/margot-robbie-snubbed-as-oscar-nominations-announced" target="_blank" rel="noopener">snubbed</a> for a Best Actress nomination at this year's Oscars for the <em>Barbie</em> movie, which caused an uproar on social media. </p> <p>Margot addressed the snub at the LA screening, saying there's “no way to feel sad when you’re this blessed.”</p> <p>“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director,” she added.</p> <p>“What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is."</p> <p>“We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact. Aussie actresses clean up at the Golden Globes

<p>Awards season has officially kicked off in Hollywood, with A-listers flocking to the Los Angeles Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday for the 81st annual Golden Globes. </p> <p>With the very best of the best in the entertainment industry nominated for the best film and television moments of 2023, some of our own Aussie talent walked away with some of the biggest awards of the night. </p> <p>Aussie actress Elizabeth Debicki emerged as an early winner for the TV categories, taking home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Princess Diana in <em>The Crown</em>. </p> <p>She beat out the likes of Meryl Streep (for her role in <em>Only Murders in the Building</em>) and Hannah Waddingham (for her role in <em>Ted Lasso</em>) for the award, as she has long been praised by royal fans for her touching portrayal of the late Princess of Wales' last years. </p> <p>Also coming out on top in another television category was Aussie actress Sarah Snook, who was the recipient of one of the biggest honours of the night, Best Actress in a drama, for her incredible performance in the final season of <em>Succession</em>.</p> <p>Meanwhile for outstanding achievements in film, Margot Robbie and the whole <em>Barbie</em> team took home the inaugural Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award, following the global hype of Barbie mania back in July. </p> <p>Margot was also nominated for Best Actress in a musical or comedy for <em>Barbie</em>, but was ultimately pipped by Emma Stone for her incredible performance in <em>Poor Things</em>.</p> <p>Elsewhere in the awards, <em>Oppenheimer</em> came out on top with Cillian Murphy taking home the award for Best Actor for portraying scientist J. Iconic blonde bombshell Cindy Morgan dead at 69

<p>Cindy Morgan has passed away aged 69. </p> <p>The actress, who gained fame in the 1980s for her iconic blonde bombshell role as Lacey Underall in the cult classic film <em>Caddyshack, </em>was found dead in her room with no foul play suspected according to TMZ. </p> <p>A representative for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Saturday that the actress passed away due to natural causes. </p> <p>Morgan's roommate reportedly called police to their Lake Worth Beach home on December 30, 2023 when she returned from her holiday and got no response after knocking on the actress' door. </p> <p>TMZ reported that her roommate told police she smelled a strong odour coming from inside, before they found her dead. </p> <p>In addition to playing Lacey in the iconic 1980 comedy hit alongside Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield, she also starred in 80s sci-fi flick <em>Tron  </em>as Dr. Lora Baines and computer program Yori. </p> <p>Morgan graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in communications, before her big break on the screen. </p> <p>She also appeared in a number of TV shows over the years, including <em>The Love Boat, Bring ‘Em Back Alive, The Fall Guy, The Larry Sanders Shows </em>and more. </p> <p><em>Images: Getty</em></p>

"You're entitled to know": Piers Morgan reveals names of "royal racists"

<p>Piers Morgan has revealed the names of the senior royal family members who allegedly made "racist" <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/books/new-royal-book-pulled-from-shelves-over-huge-legal-blunder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comments</a> about baby Archie's skin colour. </p> <p>Mystery has surrounded the new royal family exposé <em>Endgame</em>, written by Omid Scobie, after he claimed to know which royals allegedly made the comments when Meghan Markle was pregnant with her first child. </p> <p>Then, in a Dutch translation of the book being sold in The Netherlands, the names were <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/finance/legal/second-royal-racist-accidentally-named-in-new-book" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accidentally</a> printed in an "error", but kept out of the press for legal reason. </p> <p>But now, controversial British journalist Piers Morgan has revealed the names that feature in the translated book, which is quickly being cleared from shelves, saying people have the right to know. </p> <p>On Wednesday’s episode of <em>Piers Morgan Uncensored</em>, the British broadcaster revealed the names of the two royals who allegedly had “concerns” about baby Archie's skin tone, although saying he doesn't believe any such comments were made. </p> <p>He explained to his viewers that he doesn’t “believe any racist comments were ever made by any of the royal family,” he felt that his fellow citizens had a right to know information that only a handful of readers from another country were inadvertently privy to.</p> <p>“Frankly, if Dutch people wandering into a bookshop can pick it up and see these names, then you — the British people here, who actually pay for the British royal family — you’re entitled to know, too.”</p> <p>According to <em><a href="https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/piers-morgan-reveals-names-of-royals-exposed-in-bombshell-book-questioning-archies-skin-colour/news-story/7b499c1baa1a40116cbc07c7b26069d6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news.com.au</a></em> and <em><a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/11/29/royal-family/piers-morgan-reveals-names-of-royals-exposed-in-book-for-commenting-on-archies-skin-color/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Page Six</a></em>, Morgan said the names are King Charles III and Princess Kate Middleton. </p> <p>Despite Morgan's claims, Page Six has been unable to verify which names were accidentally revealed. </p> <p>Given the controversy surrounding the book, Xander Publishers announced that it received a request from the United States to abruptly halt sales of the book.</p> <p>“I can’t talk about the details,” a spokesperson for the publishing house said in a statement.</p> <p>“We have, however, received a request to put the title on hold, and that is what we have done. "It breaks my heart": Robbie Williams' dedication to fallen Sydney fan

Sydney woman who died at Robbie Williams concert identified

<p>The woman who tragically died after falling down six rows of seats at Robbie Williams' Sydney concert has been identified. </p> <p>Robyn Hall, who was in her 70s, passed away at St Vincent's Hospital after spending a week in an induced coma after the fall. </p> <p>Her son Michael paid tribute to his mum on Facebook, saying he had lost his "best friend". </p> <p>“I haven’t got the words to say what my mum meant to me,” he said.</p> <p>“Taken from under me and my best friend is no longer with me … I love you forever.”</p> <p>A family friend said Hall loved the British singer and had “thoroughly” enjoyed the evening before tragedy struck.</p> <p>“She was one of those ones who looked 50 but was 70. She took care of herself and didn’t need carers,” he said.</p> <p>“Robyn was the most beautiful human I have ever met. Through all adversity, she smiled, hugged and laughed her way through,” he said.</p> <p>“Broken hearts amongst all her family and friends, she will be missed by all who knew her.”</p> <p>Robyn had remained in an induced coma since Thursday November 16th, when she was rushed from Sydney's Allianz Stadium where Williams was performing on his Australian tour. </p> <p>It is understood that Robyn was climbing over chairs when she slipped and fell down six rows of seating. </p> <p>Paramedics were called to the stadium around 10:15pm, after Robyn suffered serious head and face injuries. </p> <p>She was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital.</p> <p>The sold-out show kicked off just after 7pm and had wrapped by about 10pm when the 40,000 fans began making their way to the exit.</p> <p>It was around this time the woman began climbing over the seats and fell.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images / Facebook</em></p>

"Sweet revenge": Piers Morgan blasts Matildas after Lionesses victory

<p>Piers Morgan is revelling in Australia being knocked out of the FIFA Women's Word Cup by England's Lionesses in the nail-biting semi-final game on Wednesday night. </p> <p>The British media personality is just one of many happy Brits celebrating the Lionesses' win, which will carry them through to the final where they will meet Spain on Sunday.</p> <p>In the lead up to the match, Piers stoked the rivalry fire with with a series of tweets. </p> <p>“You know what to do Lionesses, make Ashes of the Matildas,” he wrote. </p> <p>When the Lionesses the beat The Matildas in a 3-1 victory, while thrilled with the win, Piers seemingly couldn't help but to bring up Australia's win over England in the recent Ashes. </p> <p>“England’s fabulous Lionesses crush Australia’s wilting Matildas 3-1 in their own back yard to reach the Women’s World Cup Final … sweet revenge for the Jonny Bairstow Ashes runout debacle. Margot Robbie's enormous Barbie salary revealed

<p>Margot Robbie is set to take home her biggest pay cheque yet for her portrayal in the <em>Barbie</em> movie, as the highly-anticipated film hits the $1 billion mark at the global box office. </p> <p>Robbie, who started her acting career on <em>Neighbours</em>, both starred in and produced the Barbie film, which was directed by Greta Gerwig. </p> <p>According to reports from <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/barbie-pay-margot-robbie-salary-box-office-bonuses-1235695563/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Variety</em></a>, the 32-year-old Aussie actress made an upfront fee of $19 million to portray the Mattel doll, but that figure will make a significant jump after the lucrative sales, bringing Margot's salary to $77 million. </p> <p><em>Barbie</em>, which was made on a budget of approximately $220 million, hit the coveted $US1 billion mark at the global box office earlier this month, just two weeks after it hit cinemas.</p> <p>Robbie was instrumental in the making of the <em>Barbie</em> film, as her production company, LuckyChap, purchased the rights from Mattel in 2018. </p> <p>She then pitched the film to Warner Bros. and managed to convince Gerwig to both write and direct the blockbuster movie, with Gerwig's partner Noah Baumbach jumping in to help write the screenplay.</p> <p>Speaking of her commitment to making <em>Barbie</em> happen, Robbie recently said she was “overselling” the project in early meetings with executives to get the project off the ground. </p> <p>“I think my pitch in the green-light meeting was the studios have prospered so much when they’re brave enough to pair a big idea with a visionary director,” Robbie said in an interview with <a title="collider.com" href="https://collider.com/barbie-margot-robbie-interview-ryan-gosling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Collider</em> </a>in July.</p> <p>She added, “And then I gave a series of examples like, ‘dinosaurs and [Steven] Spielberg’ – pretty much naming anything that’s been incredible and made a ton of money for the studios over the years. </p> <p>“And I was like, ‘And now you’ve got <em>Barbie</em> and Greta Gerwig.’ And I think I told them that it’d make a billion dollars, which maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, OK?”</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Piers Morgan lays into vegan activist Tash Peterson

<p>Prominent Australian vegan activist Tash Peterson found herself in the middle of a fiery debate with British media personality Piers Morgan during her appearance on his TV program, Uncensored.</p> <p>The 29-year-old activist donned a T-shirt with the slogan "end this holocaust" and an image of a caged pig, which immediately sparked heated discussions.</p> <p>Morgan began the conversation by suggesting that people might be turning away from veganism because they felt overwhelmed by aggressive approaches. He referred to Peterson's habit of entering restaurants and playing sounds of animals being slaughtered, aiming to draw attention to the treatment of animals in the meat industry.</p> <p>Peterson defended her actions, stating that it raises awareness about what she calls the "animal holocaust." However, Morgan took issue with her choice of words, asserting that the term "holocaust" should be reserved for the mass extermination of six million Jewish people during World War II. Husband to fight charges over wife’s death in golf buggy crash

<p dir="ltr">Robbie Awad, whose fiancée died in a tragic buggy crash accident on their honeymoon, will fight the charges laid against him in relation to the incident, a court has been told.</p> <p dir="ltr">Awad, also known as Robbie Morgan, entered a not guilty plea for the charge of driving without due care and attention causing death when his matter was mentioned at Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday.</p> <p dir="ltr">He was issued with a notice to appear in court just months after laying his wife to rest.</p> <p dir="ltr">The 30-year-old <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/husband-charged-over-wife-s-death-in-hamilton-island-buggy-crash">was charged</a> by Queensland Police with causing the death of his wife, Marina Hanna, who didn’t survive the critical injuries she suffered when the golf buggy Awad was driving overturned during their honeymoon on Hamilton Island.</p> <p dir="ltr">He has also been charged with failure to wear an approved seatbelt by the driver, failure to wear an approved seatbelt by the passenger and using a mobile phone.</p> <p dir="ltr">Police initially labelled the crash, which occurred ten days after the couple tied the knot, as a “tragic accident”.</p> <p dir="ltr">Now, Mr Awad is on bail and must reside at his home in Quakers Hill, Sydney.</p> <p dir="ltr">A brief of evidence was ordered to be served by January 23, with Mr Awad’s matter due to return to court on February 6, though he doesn’t have to appear.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-970ecd1f-7fff-1bd0-8665-c266a6c7581f"></span></p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image: Nine News</em></p>

<p dir="ltr">Piers Morgan has once again lashed out at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry but this time over their Netflix doco series trailer.</p> <p dir="ltr">The trailer for the $157 million show dropped just hours after Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in the US.</p> <p dir="ltr">The official Netflix account shared the trailer for the show with the caption reading: “Harry &amp; Meghan. A Netflix Global Event.
