"He's upset": Kochie flips off Nat Barr after hilarious insult

A hilariously awkward moment unfolded on Sunrise on Friday morning after Kochie was left feeling "visibly upset" from a seemingly innocent quip from Nat Barr.

In the Sunrise studio, Nat Barr and fill-in co-host Matt Shirvington crossed live to Kochie, who is currently in London covering King Charles III’s coronation.

Appearing on the live cross, Kochie tuned in wearing a newsboy cap, which sparked a nostalgic memory from Nat.

Nat and Matt giggled as they couldn't help but compare Kochie's outfit to Aussie actor Glenn Robbins’ cap-wearing character Uncle Arthur from the classic sketch show, Comedy Company.
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Boat tragedy claims five lives after whale flips vessel

New details have emerged pertaining to the accident that involved a whale, which was understood to have flipped over a boat at Goose Bay, claiming the lives of five photographers near Kaikōura in New Zealand’s South Island.

The fatal accident occurred at 10 am on a Saturday, when the whale breached directly underneath the boat causing the vessel to capsize. Six people were thrown overboard including the skipper; five others were left trapped and did not survive.

According to their website, the 10 photographers from the Nature Photography Society had been planning the three-day field trip for months. Everyone made their way to the popular seaside village on Friday September 9, before setting out to photograph landscapes, seascapes and birdlife.

The group embarked at 9 am in an 8.5m aluminium boat, leaving South Bay at Kaikōura and heading down the coastline to Goose Bay near the well-known twin road tunnels on State Highway 1.

The three-hour charter had taken the group out on the water to capture photos of the snow-capped Kaikōura landscape in the background and the birdlife along the coast, with whale watching not even on the agenda.

An hour later, the charter headed north towards Barneys Rock, a popular spot for photographers and tourists. As it motored slowly north it appears it was on the edge of the famous deep trench that is home to whales, where the canyon quickly drops away to a depth of 500 metres and as far down as 3km.

The boat was about 500 m from shore when the emerged from directly beneath the boat, flipping the vessel, throwing the skipper and passengers into the water.

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission is investigating, in conjunction with Maritime New Zealand and the police.

Image: Getty

Madonna flips The Weeknd's former LA estate

Music icon Madonna has successfully flipped this Los Angeles-area mansion for a huge profit.

The ‘Material Girl’ singer has listed her 3-acre Hidden Hills home for $25.9 million (A$36 million) just one year after buying it from R&B star The Weeknd.

That’s $6.7 million (A$9.3m) more than the $19.3 million (A$26.8m) the 63-year-old pop queen paid for the approximately 12,000-square-foot estate, which she bought from the singer in April 2021.

This time around, however, the house may actually sell at the steep asking price, thanks to the addition of a new gym and dance studio in the property’s barn.

The home features a saltwater pool, a basketball court, a 10-person spa, an indoor-outdoor bar, a formal dining room with a fireplace, a wine cellar, a five-car auto gallery, a home theatre and a two-bedroom, two-bathroom guesthouse with a full kitchen.

It also has plenty of room for guests, boasting nine bedrooms and eleven bathrooms throughout the main house and separate guesthouse. All seven of the main residence’s bedrooms have ensuite baths.

The interesting compound is also very well hidden, accessed via an “olive-tree lined drive & storybook bridge”.

The grounds are located on a “sun-drenched hillside” brimming with redwood trees in the gated Hidden Hills community, which is known for its many current and former famous residents.

Images: Domain

Annastacia Palaszczuk flips on payrise

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been slammed for accepting a pay rise while calling for politician wage increases to be put on hold during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal decided on Monday that her salary should increase from $399,955 to $427,561.

This move makes her the second-highest-paid state premier, with Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews taking the lead with $441,429 per year.

When Palaszczuk was asked why she accepted a pay rise despite wages stagnating in the private sector, she reportedly responded by saying “that’s a matter for the remuneration tribunal.”

“We’ve had the pay freezes and it’s nothing more than what the public service are getting paid, in fact it’s less,’’ she said, according to The Australian.

The Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal said that it decided to give politicians a pay rise due to the strong economy.

“While the economic forecast and outlook continue to remain uncertain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears that the economy is rebounding, and the outlook is more positive than at the height of the pandemic in 2020 when the salary levels of members were last considered by the tribunal,” it explained.

Queensland MPs are receiving three pay increases, starting with a 2 per cent rise on September 1 2021, a 2.25 per cent increase on March 2022 and a 2.5 per cent increase on September 2022.

"He's boring": Spectator who flipped off Nadal has her say

The woman who heckled Rafael Nadal on Rod Laver Arena has zero regrets after gaining worldwide attention for her astonishing attack on the Spanish athlete.

Everyone in the arena was left stunned after the rogue spectator took it upon herself to liven up proceedings during Nadal's second round win over American qualifier Michael Mmoh, forcing play to stop as security escorted her out.

Just before Nadal was gearing up to serve, the woman yelled out: "Hurry up, you OCD f***."

She then flipped Nadal the bird.

The star was stunned but managed to see the funny side as he laughed it off, later suggesting the offender may have had a bit too much "gin and tequila" before her brazen stunt.

The woman appeared on radio on Friday morning to explain her version of events, showing absolutely no remorse for hijacking events on centre court.

“I’m certainly not a fan of Nadal, I think he’s boring and he goes through all those OCD rituals all the time,” she told Neil Mitchell on 3AW.

“The very fact pictures of me have gone viral around the world reflects on how incredibly boring his matches are, because why would you want to focus on a spectator?

“It’s a bit embarrassing. When I woke up this morning I had messages and phone calls from all sorts of different people.

“It’s probably not a great look for me but you know, what can I do? What’s done is done.

“I just called out, ‘Get over your OCD rituals’ as he was serving, and then he looked at me, and that’s when I flicked him the bird.

“My daughter wasn’t too happy because I’m so embarrassing.

“I was going for the other guy actually because so many people seem to go for Nadal.”

The woman denied Nadal’s hypothesis she was enjoying gin or tequila, saying she only had one “glass of bubbly” all day.

“Alcohol does make one become less inhibited but I’m pretty much like that anyway,” she said. “I’m a bit out there.”

Calling herself a “tennis aficionado” who comes down to Melbourne from Sydney every year for the Australian Open, the woman wasn’t a fan of the way security handled the situation even though she had quickly become the most unpopular person at Melbourne Park.

“They were very rude. They said, ‘Right, you have to go’ and I said, ‘Why? I’m a spectator, I’ve paid for my tickets, why aren’t I allowed to be a bit vocal?’” the woman told Mitchell.

How easy is it to flip a property?

‘Flipping’ or buying properties to do up and sell can be a lot of work but the pay-off could be huge when the time comes to selling your fixer-upper. With risk comes rewards and flipping properties may just be the best financial decision for you, but weigh up the odds first.

Risk versus profit
Most people recognise the risks that come with flipping properties. You invest your time and hard earned money into renovating a home but it may not always pay off when it comes time to sell. Before you do anything, you must plan your budget for fixing up the fixer-upper and budget down to the smallest of things. Investing Answers suggests that you pay for the house in cash and avoid getting a mortgage for it. Even splitting the investment with a partner will be better. Having a mortgage is a "fixed obligation" and it adds extra pressure for you to be successful with flipping.

What do buyers look for?
The Real Estate Buyers Agents Association recently released a survey of the most popular features that Australians want for their new home. These are the top 10 features:

1. Open plan living

2. At least two bathrooms

3. Natural light

4. Close to schools and shops

5. Kitchens that flow out to outdoor entertainment

6. Two living areas

7. Level yard

8. Pantry

9. Storage space

10.Secure car space

Now that you know the most popular features, you can start to plan your renovations with them in mind. Aussies love to renovate their homes but perhaps more importantly, they like to do it themselves. This means that there will be a lot of costs saved on hiring people to build or demolish.

Best house on the worst street or worst house on the best street?
Location can make or break your gains when flipping a property; just remember - it's all about the serenity. Buying a run-down house and fixing it up can be great, but not if it is on a terrible street. You have to ask yourself if the features of the neighbourhood are going to add value to your home. Research the past rates of property growth in surrounding streets, as well as nearby schools and amenities.

If you are now entering the world of flipping property, know that it is a tough game to play. But if you win, the rewards can set you up for a successful financial future. Talk to the team at First National Real Estate to find out the best places to buy for your next investment.

Republished with permission of Wyza.com.au.

A dashcam has captured the shocking moment a car flipped over a Perth highway median strip.

The incident has left many bewildered as to what caused the car to flip on such a straight stretch of road.

In the footage, a blue sedan can be seen flying through the air after flipping from the right side of Perth’s Roe Freeway.

The car then bounces a number of times as it lands on the other side of the median strip, narrowly avoiding incoming traffic.

On Tuesday, the footage was shared to the Dash Cam Owner Australia Facebook page, where it was revealed that miraculously there were no major injuries.

“Very fortunate that there was no trees or lamp posts where they crashed. It would have been a whole lot worse for those involved if they’re had been,” one viewer commented.

Many viewers were divided as to how the incident was caused.

One viewer suggested a tyre blow out could have been responsible to making the car flip, while others thought that the driver may have lost control of the car after clipping another vehicle during a lane change.

What do you think is the cause of the incident? Car almost flips onto roof as another vehicle merges into its lane

Merging into another lane in peak hour traffic can sometimes be a difficult task, and one video taking on a busy road in Sydney has shown us exactly how not to do it.

The footage, which was captured on a busy Sydney road and posted on Dash Cam Owners Australia is as perplexing as it is worrying, and both drivers involved in the incident were quick to point the finger of blame at the other party.

Hundreds of commenters have had their say on the incident.

“Whether indicator on or not, you can not merge until it is 100 per cent clear to do, so merging driver must ensure it is safe to merge. Even a 10 year old kid knows that,” one man wrote.

Amazingly, the woman in the vehicle involved came across the video and commented on the post.

“This is going to help so much with the insurance process,' she wrote.

“I was the one the lady hit and she even has the nerve to blame me like it was my fault! She said ‘I indicated and you had enough space for me to merge in front of you.’ She didn't even stop or come back just continued driving like nothing happened.”

Road rules in New South Wales state that merging motorists must give way to vehicles in the lane they are tyring to move into.

“Before changing lane, signal in plenty of time and check for other vehicles by looking in your mirrors and your blind spot,” the rule book states.

What are your thoughts? Who do you think is in the wrong?

Image credit: Facebook / Dash Cam Owners Australia
