The surprising details around baby Archie’s christening – and why his godparents might be revealed after all

Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously announcing they would not release the details of who Archie’s godparents will be, it seems the public will still get to find out.

According to the Parochial Registers and Records Measure (1978), the royal couple will not legally be able to conceal the name of their newborn son’s godparents.

The English rule means that all baptisms, including details like the name of godparents for example, are a matter of public record and can be viewed by anyone for a $50 fee.

This information comes to light after Buckingham Palace shared that both Prince Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan, would keep baby Archie’s christening as a private ceremony.
