Fallout after French President shoved in the face by wife

French President Emmanuel Macron has found himself at the centre of an unexpected media storm after a moment of apparent tension with his wife, Brigitte Macron, was caught on camera as the couple disembarked from a plane in Hanoi.

Arriving on Monday for a six-day tour of Southeast Asia, the Macrons made headlines not for diplomacy, but for a brief, seemingly physical exchange at the top of the aircraft stairs.

Brigitte, 72, dressed in a striking red suit, appeared to shove her husband’s face with both hands as the cockpit door opened – just as members of the international press and Vietnamese officials looked on.

The 47-year-old president appeared visibly taken aback, momentarily flustered before regaining his composure. He smiled awkwardly and waved before descending the stairs without his wife, who remained momentarily behind, partially obscured by the fuselage and refusing to take his arm.

When questioned about the moment, Macron dismissed it with a laugh, telling reporters, “We are squabbling and, rather, joking with my wife. I’m surprised by it – it turns into some kind of global catastrophe where people are even coming up with theories to explain it. It’s nonsense.”

The Elysee Palace echoed the president’s tone, describing the incident as “a moment of closeness” and “a laugh” shared between the couple before beginning their official engagements.

Still, the footage quickly went viral on social media, prompting a flurry of speculation, jokes and criticism. While some observers saw it as harmless marital banter, others questioned the optics and tone, calling it an “embarrassing” spectacle for the French head of state.

Gilbert Collard, a former member of the European Parliament, sarcastically commented, “Everyone is laughing,” referencing the well-known age gap and history of the couple, who met at a Jesuit high school where Brigitte was Macron’s drama teacher. He was 15 at the time.

Social media users piled on, with one post noting, “Looks like even world leaders have to navigate a little domestic turbulence! Just goes to show, no matter how high you fly, there’s always someone to keep you grounded.”

Others shared screenshots of Macron’s seemingly clenched jaw and balled fist in the seconds following the push, scrutinising his body language in search of deeper meaning.

The Hanoi visit marks the first by a French president in nearly a decade, aimed at bolstering France's diplomatic and economic presence in the region – especially in its former colony. Yet for now, global attention remains fixed not on policy, but on a fleeting, dramatic moment between two of Europe’s most scrutinised public figures.

As the tour continues, so too does speculation about what really happened on those stairs – and whether the Macrons will manage to shift the narrative back to matters of state.

Image: YouTube

Aussie Olympian sentenced over wife's death

Olympic cycling champion Rohan Dennis has received a suspended prison sentence over a road incident that led to the tragic death of his wife, fellow Olympian Melissa Hoskins, in Adelaide late last year.

Dennis, 34, appeared before South Australia’s District Court on Wednesday, where he was sentenced to one year, four months and 28 days in prison. However, Judge Ian Press suspended the sentence, citing Dennis’s guilty plea, remorse and his responsibilities as the sole carer for the couple’s two young children.

Dennis had earlier pleaded guilty to committing an aggravated act likely to cause harm in relation to the events of 30 December 2023.

Judge Press acknowledged the deep impact of the incident, saying that calling it "tragic" did not do justice to the "grief, anguish and turmoil" experienced by those close to Hoskins.

Hoskins, 32, died after being struck by Dennis's vehicle outside their home in Medindie, Adelaide. The court heard the couple had been arguing over kitchen renovations before Dennis left the house and got into his car.

During the confrontation, Hoskins reportedly jumped onto the car’s bonnet. Judge Press described driving with a person on the bonnet as “an inherently risky and dangerous act”. After she dismounted and attempted to open the car door, Dennis closed it and accelerated without realising she was still holding onto the vehicle. Hoskins then fell and suffered fatal injuries.

Judge Press made it clear that Dennis was not charged with causing Hoskins’s death, but rather with a dangerous act that contributed to the chain of events. “I accept you have a sense of responsibility for all that occurred,” he told Dennis. “I accept you have anguished over what could have been different if you had acted in some other way.”

Dennis, who remained emotionless throughout the sentencing, was also issued a $100, two-year good behaviour bond, and his driver's licence was suspended for five years. The judge warned that any breach of the driving ban would result in immediate imprisonment.

Outside court, Hoskins’s father Peter expressed the family's grief but also their desire to move forward. “We miss Melissa terribly,” he said, his voice breaking. “But it’s time for us to move on, which would be Melissa’s expectation of us.”

He added that the family intended to remain closely involved in the lives of the couple’s children and hoped to maintain a respectful relationship with Dennis. “They deserve this. They have done nothing wrong,” he said.

Though the family had not yet received an apology from Dennis, Hoskins said he believed it would come in time. He also clarified they had not sought a custodial sentence, saying, “For them to go and lose their dad… albeit a temporary loss… I don’t think that would be ideal at all.”

Melissa Hoskins was a celebrated cyclist, having represented Australia in the team pursuit at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and winning a world championship in 2015. Rohan Dennis is a two-time world champion in the road time trial and a dual Olympic medallist.

The case has drawn widespread public attention, not only for the prominence of the individuals involved, but also for the deeply personal and painful circumstances surrounding the incident.

Image: Fox Sports

Bill Gates set to give away his entire fortune

In a bold, legacy-defining move, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had announced plans to spend more than $200 billion over the next two decades, dramatically accelerating its mission to combat global poverty and disease before closing its doors in 2045.

The philanthropic giant, co-founded by Bill Gates in 2000, will double its giving in the years ahead – an effort Gates says is driven by a sense of "urgency and opportunity". With advances in artificial intelligence and public health breakthroughs on the horizon, and as government aid budgets decline worldwide, the foundation is aiming to make its final chapter the most impactful yet.

"People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that ‘he died rich’ will not be one of them," Gates, 69, wrote in a personal blog post on Thursday. “There are too many urgent problems to solve for me to hold onto resources that could be used to help people.”

The decision marks a pivotal shift from the foundation’s original charter, which called for operations to end 20 years after Gates’s death. Instead, the organisation will sunset in 2045, regardless of Gates’s lifespan.

The scale of the commitment is staggering: over the next 20 years, the Gates Foundation will give away more than twice what it distributed in its first 25 years. “During the first 25 years of the Gates Foundation – powered in part by the generosity of Warren Buffett – we gave away more than $100 billion,” Gates noted.

Founded at the dawn of the 21st century, the Gates Foundation has become one of the most influential forces in global health. From spearheading polio eradication efforts to funding a life-saving rotavirus vaccine that has reduced child deaths from diarrhoea by 75%, its impact is undeniable.

Now, the foundation’s final act aims even higher. “By accelerating our giving, my hope is we can put the world on a path to ending preventable deaths of mums and babies and lifting millions of people out of poverty,” Gates wrote.

The announcement also comes at a moment of transition. In 2024, Melinda French Gates departed from the foundation, three years after the couple's divorce. Yet the shared vision remains clear: a world where fewer lives are lost to poverty, illness and neglect.

As Gates prepares to give away nearly all of his $112.6 billion fortune, his message to the world is simple – and powerful: we don’t have forever to make a difference. So we must act now.

Images: Instagram

Lauren Zonfrillo speaks on husband Jock’s sudden death

In a moment that has resonated with grief across Australia and beyond, Lauren Zonfrillo has spoken publicly for the first time about the devastating loss of her husband, celebrated chef and MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo.

Zonfrillo, just 46 years old, was found dead in a Melbourne hotel room in May 2023. The suddenness of his passing left his family shattered – his wife Lauren and their two young children were on the other side of the world in Italy when they received the unimaginable news.

Since then, many questions have lingered, especially around the cause of his death. But Lauren has now made it clear: those details will remain private.

Speaking in an emotional interview with Liz Hayes for 7NEWS Spotlight, Lauren shared how she and the coroner agreed not to make Jock’s cause of death public – a decision made out of respect, protection and love.

“We spoke to the coroner multiple times because the inquest took a while,” she said. “It was just sort of agreed that for the privacy and safety of our family... that it wouldn’t be in the public’s best interest or our best interest, and that was determined well before the report was finalised.”

In Victoria, coronial findings are not always made public, and discretion can be used if deemed to be in the public interest. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the investigation into Zonfrillo’s death was concluded in August 2024, with no report to be released.

While some sources close to the family have said the beloved chef died of natural causes, Lauren said it was her desire to shield her family from further public scrutiny – and to preserve some part of the man who, to them, was far more than a television personality.

“Up until Jock’s death, yes, he was a public figure,” she said. “But, since we lost Jock, I’d been trying to reclaim some of his privacy… to give him some peace as much as I can. To us, he’s Dad, Papa, husband – and he’s not a public figure to us anymore.”

As tributes to Jock continue to pour in, the grief of his family remains raw – and the privacy they seek a small comfort in the shadow of profound loss.

Images: 7NEWS Spotlight

What every parent should read before becoming the bank of mum and dad

In late 2023, economists Jarden estimated 15 per cent of mortgage borrowers received some form of financial support from their parents. A separate poll by comparison site Finder around the same time put the figure at 11 per cent. Fast forward to February this year, with a UBS survey suggesting almost half of first home buyers receive parental assistance. Clearly, the Bank of Mum and Dad is a rapidly growing source of funds for younger people seeking to purchase property. However, some older Australians are now paying a hefty price for having done so without adequate planning and protections.

On the hook

Amid the excitement of homebuying, many parents overlook the fact they could be left on the hook to cover any shortfall. The worst-case scenario here is losing your own home, as well as your child losing theirs, if you went guarantor on their loan and they defaulted and you didn’t have a backup plan. If you loaned them money which they subsequently can’t repay, the principal amount goes unrepaid and you also miss out on the interest/compound growth that money could have earned if invested elsewhere. You may even be asked to fork out more in future if your child needs help to keep the property or to subsequently buy a replacement property. Unlike for a real bank, there is no public bailout for the Bank of Mum and Dad.

Financial shortfall

A common problem that I and other financial advisors are now seeing is parents inadvertently giving their children more than they can actually afford. Take people who acted as Bank of Mum and Dad before the pandemic hit. They budgeted how much they would need for retirement and then gave their adult kids money towards buying a home of their own. Then COVID-19 arrived. Countless jobs were lost and businesses shuttered. Many would-be retirees were forced to stay in the workforce for longer than planned. Next came the inflation crisis, with mortgages and living costs soaring. Retirement budgets blew-out as more money was suddenly needed for everyday expenses, particularly energy, insurance and food. Meanwhile ballooning house prices over the pandemic years saw first homebuyers needing even larger deposits. That all translated to significant financial shortfalls for the Bank of Mum and Dad.

Elder abuse

Government figures from 2023 estimate one in six older Australians suffer elder abuse in some form, with 2.1 per cent experiencing financial abuse – undue control, pressure or restricted access to their own money and financial decisions. Half (53 per cent) of elder abuse perpetrators are family members, with adult children the most common offenders.

Given the amount of money involved in property purchases, and the stresses associated with housing affordability, the potential for the Bank of Mum and Dad to suffer elder abuse is alarmingly high.

Relationship breakdowns

Money is perhaps the greatest source of tension in relationships. Usually that is between partners, yet these can multiply for the Bank of Mum and Dad and its stakeholders. Some examples include:

You and your partner disagree on what or how much assistance to provide.

Your other children feel disadvantaged if they don’t receive the same financial assistance.

Having provided the finances, you then interfere in how your child manages the property or their general finances, causing resentment to build.

A marriage breakdown (yours or your child’s) affects the repayment of a loan or the nature of a mortgage guarantee.

Protect yourself

While supporting children is the foremost concern of the Bank of Mum and Dad, it is important to protect yourself too. A written agreement outlining the nature of the support, conditions and contingencies is crucial to keep every aligned. Independent advice from your financial adviser, lawyer, mortgage broker and accountant ensures you fully understand what you are on the hook for, how much you can afford to contribute, and whether there are less-risky options.

Finally, be sure that the decision to support your child’s property ambitions is your own and that you aren’t coerced into it. If you’re concerned that you may be experiencing elder abuse, call the free elder abuse line on 1800 353 374.

Helen Baker is a licensed Australian financial adviser and author of the new book, Money For Life: How to build financial security from firm foundations (Major Street Publishing $32.99). Helen is among the 1% of financial planners who hold a master’s degree in the field. Tragedy on first cruise: Aussie couple’s dream trip ends in heartbreak

What began as a dream getaway for Aussie couple Glenn and Beverley Stein has ended in devastating tragedy, after Glenn, 74, died suddenly during their very first cruise.

Described as "humble and hardworking", the couple had never been overseas or on a cruise before. Their four-day voyage from Brisbane to Airlie Beach, a generous gift from their son after a lucky windfall, was meant to be a long-overdue escape for the pair, who had spent more than 50 years side by side.

"They had never been on a cruise before, never even been overseas," daughter-in-law Sarah shared with Yahoo News. "One of their sons won some money so he thought it might be nice to buy them a cruise."

According to Sarah, the couple were thoroughly enjoying their time onboard. But just a few days into the trip, Glenn began to feel unwell, suspecting it was merely “a bit of food poisoning”. True to their no-fuss nature, the Steins tried not to worry and went to bed, assuming he would feel better by morning.

Tragically, Beverley awoke the next day to find Glenn unconscious. In shock, she raised the alarm with the ship’s housekeeping staff, who immediately called the onboard medical team. “The staff were amazing. We’ve got a 43-page report detailing all the care they gave him," Sarah said, commending the cruise medical team for their efforts and support during the ordeal.

Glenn’s condition rapidly deteriorated. Doctors soon discovered he was suffering from a life-threatening strangulated hernia, requiring emergency surgery. As they awaited an airlift to Bundaberg Hospital, the crew urged Beverley to speak with her husband and prepare for the worst.

Even aboard the emergency helicopter, Glenn’s health continued to fail. Once at the hospital, paramedics warned the couple’s children, already en route, to call in immediately.

“They managed to speak to Glenn, which was really nice,” Sarah said. Heartbreakingly, just minutes later, when Sarah and her husband tried to call, they were told Glenn had passed away. "He had literally just passed away as soon as they got off the phone."

Adding to the family's anguish, they soon discovered that because Glenn and Beverley had unknowingly crossed into international waters, and hadn't purchased travel insurance, Beverley was left facing an $8,500 medical bill.

“This was their first cruise; they didn’t realise it was actually out of Australian waters,” Sarah explained, calling the experience a “cautionary tale” for other travellers. While understanding of the fees, the family is now hoping the cruise company might show some compassion and reduce the amount.

Loved ones have launched a GoFundMe to help cover the medical costs and funeral expenses. "Bev is not only grieving the loss of her life partner but is now also facing overwhelming financial pressure," the family wrote. "Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering the significant costs associated with Glenn’s passing and supporting Bev as she begins to navigate life without him."

Despite their grief, the family has found bittersweet moments of humour in the aftermath. “It’s really funny,” Sarah recalled, “his daughter mentioned, ‘Dad always said he never wanted a fuss and just wanted to go quietly,’ and it’s ended up being a helicopter out and on the news – so he couldn’t have been more dramatic."

As they rally around Beverley, the Steins’ loved ones hope their story will serve as a reminder of the importance of travel insurance — and of cherishing every moment with the ones you love.

Images: GoFundMe

As Bruce Willis continues to live with frontotemporal dementia, his wife, Emma Heming Willis, has emerged as a vocal advocate for those who support loved ones with long-term care needs.

This week, she reflected on the tragic deaths of legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife and caregiver, Betsy Arakawa, in a heartfelt video shared on Instagram.

"So this is not something I would normally comment on, but I do really believe that there is some learning in this story," Heming Willis said of Hackman and Arakawa.

The couple was found dead in their New Mexico home in late February. According to the New Mexico medical investigator’s office, Arakawa, 65, succumbed to hantavirus, a rare and often fatal disease, while Hackman, 95, passed away days later due to heart disease. Authorities revealed that Hackman had been living with Alzheimer’s disease and may not have realised he was alone after his wife's passing.

Heming Willis used the heartbreaking story to highlight a crucial issue: the well-being of caregivers themselves. "It's just made me think of this broader story, and that is that caregivers need care too and that they are vital, and that it is so important that we show up for them so that they can continue to show up for their person," she stated.

She further addressed a common misconception about caregivers, saying that many assume they "have it all figured out".

"They've got it covered, they're good," she said before clarifying, "I don't subscribe to that. We need to be showing up for them so they can continue to show up for their person."

In the caption of her video, Heming Willis reinforced her message: "Caregivers need care too. Period. Full stop. #supportcaregivers."

The flood of responses to her post was immediate and heartfelt, as fans and followers shared their experiences for caring for loved ones. "I had the same terrified reaction to Gene Hackman," wrote one reader. "What must he have suffered those last days? And his wife? It’s unfathomable. My father was a dedicated caregiver to my mom. Realising that dementia takes every ounce of patience and energy, my two sisters and I were honoured to take one full day each per week (in addition to afternoon nurses two alternate days) to support my dad’s decision to keep mama at home. She’s been gone three years now and I have never once regretted those special Fridays with her. Your message is so very important."

"I’m so glad you said this," wrote another reader. "Because that’s exactly what I was thinking when this happened that his wife was so devoted to him that she didn’t take care of herself and this happens a lot with women a lot! She didn’t have any children, but I’m amazed that no friends checked in on her."

Heming Willis speaks from personal experience, having taken on the role of primary caregiver for her husband since his diagnosis. It was announced in 2022 that Bruce Willis would step away from his acting career due to cognitive issues, which were later identified as frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive brain disorder. The couple, who married in 2009, share two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.

Through her platform, Heming Willis remains committed to raising awareness and fostering support for those navigating the complexities of long-term care.

Images: Instagram

Dolly Parton's husband dies at age 82

Dolly Parton's husband, Carl Dean, has died at the age of 82.

Dean was notoriously private during their almost 60 years of marriage, after he tied the knot with the country music icon in 1966.

Parton announced the sad news of her loss in a statement on her Instagram, saying "words can't do justice" to the "love [they] shared for over 60 years".

"Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82," the statement read.

"He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending. He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie."

"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy," Parton said in the statement.

The statement concluded sharing that, "the family has asked for privacy during this difficult time".

Parton met Dean outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat the day she moved to Nashville at 18.

“I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me)," Parton described the meeting.

"He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about.”

They married two years later, on Memorial Day, May 30th 1966, in a small ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia.

He later inspired Parton’s classic, “Jolene”, as Parton told NPR in 2008 that she wrote the song about a flirty a bank teller who seemed to take an interest in Dean.

Parton and Dean kept strict privacy around their relationship for decades, Parton telling The Associated Press in 1984: “A lot of people say there’s no Carl Dean, that he’s just somebody I made up to keep other people off me.”

She joked that she’d like to pose with him on the cover of a magazine, “So that people could at least know that I’m not married to a wart or something."

Home and Away icon bids farewell after 33 years

In news that has sent shockwaves through lounge rooms across the country, Lynne McGranger, the heart and soul of Home and Away, is preparing to hang up her iconic apron and bid farewell to her beloved character, Irene Roberts.

After an impressive 33 years of delivering heartfelt performances, dishing out sage advice and reminding every misbehaving local to "listen here, girlie", McGranger will be making her emotional exit later this year.

Seven has promised fans that Irene’s departure will be one for the history books – no, not via the usual dramatic Summer Bay methods of freak storms, runaway cars or inexplicable amnesia, but an “emotional exit” that “cannot be missed”.

While details are tightly under wraps, we can only speculate: Will Irene sail off into the sunset? Open a surf club for wayward teens? Or finally take that well-earned break from all the Summer Bay chaos and settle somewhere where people aren’t constantly getting lost at sea?

Fans, naturally, have been left reeling. Social media has been flooded with messages of heartbreak, nostalgia and a desperate plea for Irene to return – even if only for a guest appearance or as a ghostly vision (a Home and Away classic).

Lynne herself has spoken out about the farewell, calling it “bittersweet” to leave a role that has been not just a job, but a family. "After almost 33 years in my dream role and working every day with people I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it’s bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life,” she said.

Ever the class act, Lynne expressed gratitude to the crew, writers and, of course, the fans – those who have stuck by Irene through every high, low and dramatic face-off at the Diner.

And let’s not forget Irene’s legendary status. TV Week readers ranked her as the second Greatest Australian TV Character of All Time (although we suspect if the voting had been left solely to Home and Away die-hards, she’d have taken the crown).

Julie McGauran, Home and Away’s Executive Producer, summed it up best: “Lynne’s extraordinary portrayal of down-to-earth Irene Roberts is why the character is held with such great affection by fans around the world.”

Despite wrapping up filming in March, Irene will still grace our screens for months to come – enough time for fans to prepare themselves emotionally (and stock up on tissues). In the meantime, Lynne will return to the stage with her comedy show, "The Grandparents Club", proving that she has no plans to slow down anytime soon.

The farewell will undoubtedly be a tearjerker, but if we know anything about Irene Roberts, she’ll be leaving Summer Bay the same way she lived in it: with heart, humour and a no-nonsense attitude.

As one fan put it perfectly, "Now listen here, girlie, you are going to be missed soooo much."

And that, as they say, is the bottom line.

Image: Instagram

Schumacher’s wife issues statement after blackmail furore

Michael Schumacher’s wife has issued a rare statement after three men were found guilty for blackmailing the Formula One legend.

Corinna Schumacher says the family has appealed the two-year suspended prison sentence given to the “mastermind” behind the shocking plot.

The perpetrators demanded $25 million (AUD) from the family in exchange of not releasing hundreds of private photos and videos of the Schumachers as well as digitised copies of Michael’s medical records.

The public prosecutor’s office said 900 pictures and nearly 600 videos of the family and Schumacher’s digitised medical records were confiscated from the perpetrators.

A district court in western Germany sentenced the main defendant to three years in prison, while his son received a six-month suspended sentence and a fine of $2,000 (AUD).

Another defendant, former security guard for the family Markus Fritsche, received a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of $4,000 (AUD) for aiding and abetting the other two men.

In a statement released on behalf of the family, Corinna said, “We have appealed against what we consider to be the far too lenient sentence for Mr. F.”

“In my opinion, he was the mastermind behind this. What still shocks me most is the massive breach of trust. He should receive a punishment that deters any potential copycats.”

Corinna and her family are considering further action against others allegedly involved in the operation.

“We do not share all of the court’s statements, in particular that Mr F. is only accused of aiding and abetting and not of complicity,” the Schumacher family’s lawyer Thilo Damm said.

“You can assume that we will exhaust all legal remedies available to us.”

The family has shielded Schumacher from public view since his serious skiing accident in December 2013.

TV star shot in the face at husband's birthday party

Actress Christy Carlson Romano has opened up about a terrifying accident that left her fearing for her life. In a candid video shared with her 735,000 Instagram followers, the former Disney star revealed that she was shot in the eye while participating in a clay pigeon shooting activity for her husband Brendan Rooney's birthday.

Romano explained that an unidentified member of their party "unsafely fired in the wrong direction", resulting in her being struck in the face. Displaying her injuries on camera, she showcased a visibly bruised eye and disclosed that she sustained multiple hits, with one fragment landing only centimetres from her right eye.

Recalling the ordeal, Romano shared that her husband immediately rushed her to the hospital. Medical professionals determined that a fragment was still lodged behind her eye, but said it was too risky for surgical removal at the time. Kyle and Jackie O's $200 million contract death clause revealed

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have revealed the grim death clause in their individual contracts.

In November 2023, the longtime KIISFM hosts signed a monster $200 million deal with Australian Radio Network (ARN) that will see them remain on airwaves until 2034, each pocketing a minimum of $10 million per year.

However, added to the whopping sum come a series of unique clauses.

Speaking candidly on Thursday morning's show, Kyle and Jackie O opened up about what would happen to the show if one of them were to die, and they each had different stipulations.

“They [lawyers] did ring me when they were doing this new deal and said ‘Jackie wants this [death] clause’,” Sandilands said. “I said, ‘I’ve had this for years.’”

As part of Henderson’s contract, the host specified she’d want the option to leave the show if Sandilands passed away.

“I don’t know if I would want to do it with someone else,” Henderson told her co-host.

“Aw, bless you,” Sandilands said, before savagely responding, "We drop your name. I get your income.”

“I’d just soldier on without you. I wouldn’t like it, [but] I wouldn’t want to let that great bit of content die on the vine. I’d rather be on-air crying.”

Elsewhere, Sandilands said it was stated in his contract he would only fly via private jet or first class if he was required to work overseas, while admitting that many of their contract clauses are "beyond belief”.
