NRL legend Mark 'MG' Geyer has been axed from his popular Triple M radio show that he hosts alongside Mick Molloy. The NSW State of Origin star joined Triple M in 2009 and quickly became one of the network's most popular talents, co-hosting the Mick & MG in the Morning show for many years. Geyer, 56, was absent from Wednesday and Thursday’s shows with Molloy making no mention of his whereabouts. The shock sacking comes after it was announced that Mick Molloy would also depart the show next year and return to Melbourne where he’ll host Triple M Melbourne’s breakfast show next year alongside Nick Riewoldt, Titus O’Reily and Rosie Walton. Listeners of the show took to social media to vent their frustration after learning the NRL legend had been let go. “MG has been refreshing to listen to on MMM. He isn’t one of the sanitised radio ‘personalities’ who are full of themselves. MG is honest and speaks from the heart,” one wrote. A second added: “MMM are a total joke, was once a great radio station now run by suits who have no idea on what the listeners want. Where’s the MMM we had back 30 years ago when MMM was the Number 1 radio station in Sydney.” While no official announcement has been made by Southern Cross Austereo, Geyer has updated his Facebook profile which now reads: Former Locutor at Triple M Sydney 104.9. Radio presenter announces he was sacked live on air

KIIS FM radio presenter Mitch Churi has revealed that he has been sacked, sharing the information live on air. Churi shared the sad news during the latest episode of The Pick Up, which he hosts with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, revealing to his listeners why he won't be back next year. "So late last week, I was informed by the powers that be... They have identified my roles and roles that won't be returning in 2025," he explained. "So I just want to say that it wasn't my decision. It wasn't my call. I really wanted to stay on this show with the two of you. And I wanted to stay on the night show and I wanted to stay at ARN and KIIS. And that I love working in radio," he said. "Heartbroken": Sacked Rex Airlines hostess speaks out

A “devastated” and “heartbroken” Rex Airlines flight attendant has spoken out after the regional airline entered <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/travel/travel-trouble/aussie-airline-s-shock-collapse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voluntary administration</a>. Following the shock decision, 350 staff from the airline were made redundant and told they would not be paid any wages or redundancy packages for months. While many frustrated travellers took to Rex's Facebook page to complain about their flights being cancelled at the last minute with no notice, one cabin crew member called for calm and understanding. He also said that he did not wanted to cut into his work schedule on a busy Friday evening when he did about 10 live crosses to the newsroom. Veteran journalist Robert Ovadia has launched legal action against Channel Seven and its news boss Anthony De Ceglie after claiming he was unlawfully <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/finance/legal/veteran-seven-reporter-sacked-over-misconduct-allegations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sacked</a>. The well-known news reporter was let go from the network on June 21st, following allegations of "inappropriate behaviour", with the alleged conduct reportedly including the exchange of messages with a female colleague four years ago. Seven management only became aware of the allegedly inappropriate exchange when it was reportedly brought to their attention by the ABC’s Four Corners program, which was working on an investigation into allegations of a toxic culture at Seven. Now, reports from The Australian claim the journalist lodged paperwork with the Fair Work Commission last month just days after being axed. Ovadia's lawyer John Laxon has confirmed to <a href="https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/media/veteran-journalist-robert-ovadia-takes-legal-action-against-seven/news-story/4ef1a259b51f72e35381eb1571c56d09" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news.com.au</a> that a general protections application has been lodged seeking orders of compensation for his dismissal, reinstatement to his job and pecuniary penalties. The reporter, who worked at Seven for 23 years, has previously said any suggestion of inappropriate behaviour was “false, malicious and will be defended”. Veteran Seven reporter sacked over misconduct allegations

A veteran reporter for Channel Seven has been sacked amid allegations of inappropriate behaviour. Robert Ovadia, a Sydney-based reporter who has been with the network for 23 years, announced that he has been fired in a statement to The Australian. “Yes I’ve been sacked and there will be more to say about that in the appropriate forum at the appropriate time,” Ovadia told the publication on Friday. Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the Seven Network told NCA Newswire that Ovadia was "on leave". “Seven is conducting an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour by Robert Ovadia,” the spokeswoman confirmed. US school teacher sacked after reading Aussie book to class

A US primary school teacher is forced to resign or terminate her contract after reading an Aussie book to her class. Katie Rinderle, from Cobb County, Georgia wanted to teach her fifth graders about inclusion and acceptance through Aussie author Scott Stuart’s book, My Shadow is Purple. The book itself explores this through the theme of “gender beyond the binary” and the story of a child who neither identifies as a boy or girl. Rinderle discussed the main message behind the book before asking them to reflect and write their own poem, which has been praised by some parents. However, not all of them were happy about Rinderle’s initiative and one parent filed a complaint which led to an investigation. Rinderle was sacked for violating the Divisive Concepts law, which disallows teachers from educating about divisive concepts and was given the notice of termination on June 6. Investigators reportedly deemed the book to be “pornographic” material which included “inappropriate topics”. Stuart, the author of the book, responded to the situation and shared his “disgust” on <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@scott.creates/video/7247741499775995137?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TikTok</a>. “A teacher’s just been fired for reading one of my books,” he said in the video. “(She) had parents reaching out saying that this kind of lesson was something that they wanted in the class. This is a teacher who gets phenomenal feedback from the principal, the students, the parents. “Her teaching is described as transformative and key to the school’s success,” he defended Rinderle. “This whole thing just really goes to show how much more interested the school system in the US is in playing politics than they are in educating kids,” he added “It’s gross. It’s disgusting.”. Cobb County School District has responded to the situation in a statement to FOX 5 and claimed that any action taken was “appropriate considering the entirety of the teacher’s behaviour and history”. “The District remains committed to strictly enforcing all Board policy, and the law,” the statement concluded. “A tragedy for our nation”: Reason for Scott Morrison’s firing 16 years ago revealed

The woman who sacked former Prime Minister Scott Morrison from Tourism Australia has finally opened up about the mysterious end to his time there and shared how she was “gobsmacked” that he went on to become PM. Mr Morrison’s firing from Tourism Australia in 2006 has long been shrouded in mystery, but Fran Bailey - who was Tourism Minister at the time and ordered the Chair of Tourism Australia to fire Mr Morrison - has now spoken about the decision in a brutal interview with the <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/national/i-was-gobsmacked-when-he-became-prime-minister-20220826-p5bd19.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sunday Age</a>. Ms Bailey reportedly chose to finally speak on the record after she was left incensed by the revelations that Mr Morrison <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/andrew-bolt-leads-the-charge-on-scott-morrison-tirade" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secretly swore himself into five additional ministerial positions</a> while he was Prime Minister. "What has changed my mind is that all of those characteristics that make up Scott Morrison – the secrecy... the supreme belief that only he can do a job, the lack of consultation with those closest to him – those characteristics were evident 16 years ago, and perhaps we’re seeing the end result of those now," she told the paper’s longtime columnist, Jon Faine. Echoing a common criticism of Mr Morrison, Ms Bailey said he took a bullying approach to his work, which eventually led to those in senior positions having less trust that he could do his job. "It came down to a complete lack of trust. It’s not something that I have stewed over for all those 16 years, but I certainly have become very concerned as he worked his way through the ministry, and I was gobsmacked when he became prime minister," she said. "Because I knew what he was really like to work with, and I think that’s been a tragedy for the Liberal Party and it has been a tragedy for our nation." Ms Bailey is one of many critics calling on Mr Morrison to leave Parliament following the revelations, as former High Court judge Virginia Bell is expected to head an inquiry into his actions and hand down a report on November 25. The inquiry will examine Mr Morrison’s ministerial appointments and the functioning of departments, government business enterprises and statutory bodies. The graphic footage shows Sarah Moulds striking the white pony after it ran out onto the road in the UK’s East Midlands, <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17099018/rider-kicks-punches-horse-teacher-sacked/" target="_blank">The Sun</a> reports. Following the circulation of the footage, it was revealed that the 37-year-old woman from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire was being probed by the RSPCA. The Mowbray Education Trust also said Ms Moulds has been suspended during a formal investigation. The woman alleged to be Ms Moulds was seen acting aggressively towards the horse, after it ran towards her when another young rider lost control of it while trying to lead it onto a trailer. She was filmed kicking and hitting the horse before pulling it into the horse trailer. Ms Moulds is believed to belong to the Cottesmore Hunt, a foxhound hunting group based in Rutland. At the time, she was surrounded by other members. Waitress SACKED after receiving $6000 tip

After receiving a hefty tip of $USD 4400 ($AUD 6100), a US waitress has been fired after the restaurant she worked for demanded she share it with the rest of the staff. Ryan Brandt was one of two employees serving a party of more than 40 people at the Oven and Tap in Bentonville, Arkansas. The pair received the tip through a “$100 Dinner Club” organised by Grant Wise, the owner of a local real estate company, where each person dining would contribute a $100 tip ($AUD 139). Wise, who came up with the idea during the COVID-19 pandemic, told <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.ksn.com/top-stories/arkansas-restaurant-employee-terminated-after-4400-tip/" target="_blank">KNWA</a> that he called the restaurant ahead of their booking to confirm that servers don’t share tips. With plans to use the funds to help pay off her student loans, Brandt said she was “devastated” after being told she would take home a fraction of the total amount. Wise said the intention of his tip wasn’t for it to be shared with those who didn’t serve his party. After asking the restaurant to return the tip, he gave Brandt the cash outside instead. However, Brandt said she was soon fired from her job and placed in a financially precarious situation. “It was devastating,” Brandt said. “I borrowed a significant amount for student loans. Most of them were turned off because of the pandemic but they’re turning back on in January and that’s a harsh reality.” Just a few days later, the Arkansas businessman discovered that Brandt had been fired for “violating” the restaurant’s rules. “I’m so saddened to hear that the girl we tipped the other night at our $100 Dinner Club has been fired from her job,” Wise later wrote on Instagram. “I don’t understand why this would happen to what seems like such a sweet and kind-hearted woman. Courier sacked over abusing parcel addressed to NSW premier

A courier has been fired after filming himself destroying a package addressed to Gladys Berejiklian. The delivery driver with Couriers Please was captured on video inside a sorting room, and quickly went viral on social media. In the video, the man holds up a package that shows the NSW premier's name on the label. He then talks to the camera and says "Ladies and gentlemen, f**king Gladys." He turns to a co-worker and continues, “I’ve got a shipment for Gladys. Look, look, look. You know what to do with this?” before throwing it across the room. He looks back at the camera and looks pleased with his actions, before seemingly spitting into his mask. The courier company in questions addressed the issue, saying it has been made aware of the unfortunate incident. “CouriersPlease has been alerted to a video circulating on the internet in relation to a parcel addressed to the NSW Premier’s office,” the company said in a statement. “The content of the video in no way reflects the values or code of conduct at CouriersPlease." “The freight handler in the video was dismissed immediately as part of our investigation, and we are also speaking with our franchisees and employees to ensure everyone adheres to our code of conduct.” The video comes as NSW continues to boast record-breaking COVID-19 case numbers each day due to the deadly Delta variant. Sacked journalist hits back over "racist" royal tweet

A columnist who was fired from The Telegraph over a “racist” tweet about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby has released a follow-up essay blaming “snowflake sociopaths” and “cancel culture” for her firing. Julie Burchill lost her job after mocking the name of the Sussexes’ daughter Lillibet Diana on Twitter. “What a missed opportunity,” she wrote. “They could have called it Georgina Floydina!” The journalist took to Facebook to announce she had been sacked after working for The Telegraph for five years, claiming she had been complaining about the paper rejecting her “edgy column ideas” recently. Burchill reiterated that she wasn’t “upset in the least” about losing her column in a <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9686037/JULIE-BURCHILL-reveals-wont-silenced.html">new essay</a> published in The Daily Mail. “Newspapers with no original voices will decline even more rapidly than they would anyway in the digital age. It’s ironic that a conservative newspaper which castigates cancel culture cancelled me for castigating wokery.” Burchill insisted her tweet was “sober, wry and entirely without racist intent”, and that she could not “stress enough how much I deplore the murder of George Floyd”. “What I was mocking was the type of people who - like H&M - live in gated communities while espousing BLM’s politics of social upheaval, without giving any thought to the damage that pro-BLM riots do to poor and black Americans.” This goes against research conducted by <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/10/16/this-summers-black-lives-matter-protesters-were-overwhelming-peaceful-our-research-finds/">The Washington Post</a> last year which found the Black Lives Matter protests involved very little violence and property damage from protesters. Instead, most of the violence reportedly came from police or counterprotesters directed at BLM protesters. She has attributed the backlash to a “sexist and misogynist element” within “wokeness”. “We live in an age of cultural insanity, a topsy-turvy land where men are women, harassment is justice and the Left are jostling to tug their forelocks and call for those of us who criticise royalty to be punished,” she said. "Advice I give to my own daughter": Sacked radio star defends comments

Veteran broadcaster Jeremy Cordeaux has defended his on-air comments about Brittany Higgins, despite being sacked for the crude words. Cordeaux on Monday was dismissed from his role hosting the weekend breakfast show at Adelaide radio staton FIVEaa after he said that alleged rape victim Ms Higgins was a "silly girl who got drunk". "She should have her bottom smacked," he claimed on Saturday. He also said she should not have allowed herself to get in "that kind of compromising situation". When speaking to 7News Adelaide on Monday after his sacking, the 75-year-old defended his comments. "The advice I give to my own daughter: 'Do not go out and get drunk. Regardless of how well you may know the people around you, do not put yourself in harm's way. Be on guard all the time, don't be a silly little girl'," he said. Cordeaux also laid blame again on the Parliament House security team for allowing Ms Higgins into the building while intoxicated. He went on to argue that talkback radio is not for sitting on the fence. "I have no regrets for what I said," Cordeaux said. Ms Higgins thanked Nova Entertainment for their decision to sack Cordeaux. "I politely disagree Mr Cordeaux. No, I do not deserve to have my 'bottom smacked'," she wrote on Twitter. "This rhetoric isn’t helpful especially given the cultural reckoning about consent that is taking place across the country. Mother sacks babysitter over disturbing nanny cam footage

A mother has not been able to hold back her disgust after sacking her nanny. The mum said that she was shocked to discover that the nanny she hired to look after her 10-month-old son and five-year-old daughter had secretly been breastfeeding the son. The nanny started attempting to nurse the baby after the mother had confided in her about her issues with breastfeeding. “During a conversation that we had recently (maybe two weeks ago), I mentioned that I don’t produce much milk which forces me to rely on donor milk to feed my son,” the mum confessed <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/hnm9j2/wibta_if_i_fired_my_nanny_for_breastfeeding_my_son/" target="_blank" class="_e75a791d-denali-editor-page-rtflink">in the Reddit post</a>. “She was very sympathetic and inquisitive about the situation, and I was happy to answer all of her questions while simultaneously thinking nothing of it.” It was only after the mother checked the nanny cams that were set up in the house that she made the discovery. “I have nanny cameras set up in the living room and in my bedroom that my husband and I can access at anytime when we’re not home, but I never feel compelled to check for the simple fact that I trust my nanny,” she explained. “However, I was having a rough day yesterday and wanted to see what the little ones were up to so I decided to pop in. My nanny was sitting on my bed, rocking my son, and attempting to breastfeed him. “I almost felt sick, it just seemed so inappropriate. I decided to wait until I got home to confront her about it, and when I asked she was incredibly apologetic. She said she wanted to help me because of my milk production issues and never meant any harm.” The mother initially accepted the apology, but became suspicious and went through old footage. To her horror, she discovered that the nanny breastfeeding her son wasn't a one-off occurrence. “She unplugs the camera in my bedroom when she goes to put him down for naps and plugs it back in when she leaves,” she added. “After reviewing our recordings this wasn’t the first time she attempted to breastfeed my son, among a few other questionable things (closing my daughter in the pantry, leaving my son in the backyard unattended, etc).” If that's not bad enough, the mother also discovered that some treasured baby items were missing. “A couple of my son’s first outfits (first onesie, first Halloween costume) were gone as well as a small blanket that belonged to my daughter, and a box of old baby clothes I was going to donate,” she added. “These were returned to me by [the nanny’s] father minus the blanket because she can’t find it.” The mother said she’s been left "heartbroken" by the incident. “We’ve decided to let her go, obviously, and I’m going to be taking a few weeks of leave to take my kids in for check-ups,” she added. “My husband and I are horrified and heartbroken that we facilitated a situation in which our children’s safety was put at risk.”

The network has advised that more changes will be announced regarding Studio 10 in coming weeks. "The decision to make these changes was a very difficult one and I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to our friends and colleagues who will leave the network," Channel 10's network director of news content, Ross Dagan, said in a statement. "It is in no way a reflection of their talent, contribution or passion. They are exceptionally gifted people. We are incredibly proud of them and their work. There is no doubt they will be missed. "These painful changes reflect the state of the media industry in recent years and the need for all media companies to achieve new efficiencies. "While our viewers in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth will see some on-air changes, we will continue to produce local news and employ local reporters, camera operators and production staff in those cities."
