"Sexy Santas" cause outrage at Seven staff meeting

Channel 7 has come under fire after footage of a routine staff meeting featured scantily clad dancers dressed as Santa.

The meeting of Seven Network parent company Seven West Media in Perth was held on Friday to introduce a series of new hires and appointments, while deputy news director Ray Kuka also discussed upcoming programming for the rest of the year.

As part of the announcement, Kuka spoke of Perth’s annual Christmas Pageant on December 7th, when Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas started playing and a group of female dancers wearing Santa hats and short red dresses appeared and started dancing.

Female staff who watched on were said to have been "dumbstruck and horrified" by the bizarre scene, with The Australian Financial Review claiming many likened the dancers to "sl*tty elves".

A photo of the event was shared online and drew heavy criticism, as one worker shared that the performance prompted a mass walk out of outraged staffers.

“OMG – if they thought that was even slightly appropriate given everything we’ve found out about them, the cultural makeup of that organisation is badly broken,” one person wrote online.

“That will help fix the culture issues which have been uncovered.”

A spokesman for Seven West Media defended the dancers, explaining that they were part of the Christmas Pageant, which is a “Perth institution”.

The footage of the meeting comes as Seven faces a series of internal challenges as they fight allegations of being a "toxic" workplace.

Ryan Stokes, the managing director of Seven Group Holdings Ltd, recently called inappropriate behaviour in media an "industry-wide problem".

Stokes said it was "disappointing that there is a perception [that] inappropriate behaviour" was tolerated at Seven because "we don't tolerate any inappropriate behaviour".

Fabulous at 40, fit at 50 and sexy at 60 – age does not define your health

It’s quite natural to feel a twinge of jealously when you see celebrities like Cher and Jennifer Lopez looking gorgeous and glamourous at red carpet events.

After all, Cher is 76 and J-Lo 53 – how do they look so good when many of us at the same age are either struggling with the horrors of menopause or ailments we put down to our increasing age?

The secret is it’s much more than the way they look. It’s their confidence, vibrance and calm sense of knowing about good health that gives them that extra glow.

And the great news is you can do the same – you can absolutely be healthy at any age – and, like Cher and J-Lo, enjoy the glow and confidence which comes with it.

Accepting sore joints, an aching back, fatigue and extra kilos as inevitable in your forties, fifties and sixties is the first mistake.

Some ailments are common but they’re not normal. We place limitations on ourselves because of our age – which, after all, is just a number - missing a lot of opportunities in life.

Sure, there are plenty of physical changes that start to develop in those middle years but they can be minimised with extra diligence.

I’m proud to say that I haven’t gained any weight since I first began working in the health and fitness industry 30 years ago.

I don’t spend countless hours in the gym, or starve and deprive myself. But I do make sure I exercise, do strength conditioning and have a healthy diet.

Should you walk an average of 8000 steps a day? Yes, at any age. Should you do strength training three times a week? Yes, for bone density and muscle tissue – and it can be as simple as doing a body weight workout at home, going to the gym or playing a game of tennis. The trick to exercise is being consistent – you’re not training for a marathon, just keeping your body healthy!

You also need to be diligent about including a good source of protein with every meal, more in fact than what you ate when you were younger. Protein helps repair cells in our body which in turn facilitates muscle repair and improves our skin. (That helps give you that enviable celebrity glow!)

I’m not saying these years aren’t without challenges such as arthritis, menopause, high cholesterol, and blood pressure that often start to emerge in the 40s and continue through the ensuing decades.

But the answer is to not blame age for everything. Maybe you’re drinking too much alcohol, not being as active as you should be and choosing to let your diet slide. You need to be honest with yourself.

Take some of that hard earned wisdom that we love about getting older and use it maintain your best, vibrant self. You can do it!

This article was written by Donna Aston. Donna is one of Australia’s top nutritionists. Priest shares hilarious reply to flirty text message

Everyone is guilty of accidentally sending a text message to the wrong mobile number. But what if that wrong number actually belonged to a priest?

That’s what happened to Father Simon Rundell, who received a flirty late-night text message which asked him, amongst other things, if he was working tomorrow.

The priest from Devon in England received the random text late on Saturday night, and was asked, “U ok sexy? Are u in work tomorrow? X”

The witty priest delayed his response, choosing to reply first thing the next morning, and hilariously writing: “Yes, I’m saying Mass at 9.30 & 11.15, but I’m guessing you didn’t intend to text a priest on this one. Fr. Simon.”

Father Simon shared the funny text message exchange on his Twitter account, saying, “I get the *best* wrong number texts…”

I get the *best* wrong number texts... pic.twitter.com/Xs9tEVZYQB
— Fr Simon Rundell (@frsimon) June 3, 2018

His post has been liked almost 5,000 times and attracted a huge number of entertaining comments.

One amused follower responded, “Maybe it was meant for you. No reason why someone can’t think you are sexy father.”

While another fan of the priest shared, “Maybe you should have told her the time at which you were taking confessions.”

Have you ever accidentally sent a text message to the wrong mobile number or received a message that was not meant for you?
