Raygun shows off stunning post-Olympics transformation

Infamous Australian breakdancer Raygun has debuted her new look on the front page of Stellar magazine, just months after gaining global notoriety at the Paris Olympics.

Rachael “Raygun” Gunn's infamous performance at the Olympics gained her not one single point in the competition, with her unusual style of dance going viral and parodied around the world.

Now, Raygun has ditched the green and gold Olympic tracksuit and debuted her new look for her cover story with Stellar magazine.

With her hair sleekly pulled back, Raygun shared the photo of her looking radiant in a vibrant blue dress and strappy black sandals, complete with a bold red lip.

Though the full interview isn’t released until Sunday, the cover offers a tantalising glimpse into Raygun’s mindset, with quotes reading, “You did not bring me down. You did not succeed. I still stand by what I did.”

The quotes echo Raygun's tell-all interview with Waleed Aly on The Project that she conducted after returning from Paris to a barrage of ridicule from Australia.

While some people, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, thought Raygun gave it her best try, others were quick to call her out for "making a mockery of Australia".

Speaking for the first time since the Olympics, Raygun told Waleed Aly in September that the backlash to her performance had a huge impact on her mental health.

“I didn’t understand the scale of it,” she said. “I did preview some comments and I was like, ‘Oh, no’, and this kind of sick feeling started coming out. I was like, ‘Oh, goodness! What has happened?’”

“It was really sad, how much hate that it did evoke,” she said. “There’s been a portion of very angry and awful responses, not only attacking me but attacking my husband, attacking my crew, attacking the breaking and street dance community in Australia, my family. The energy and vitriol that people had was pretty alarming.”

$15 Kmart hack that'll transform your kitchen

Who doesn't love a cheap hack?

For the past few months shoppers have been obsessed with a $15 bathroom item from Kmart, but not for its intended use.

Shoppers have used the retailer’s 3 Tier Floor Caddy, which was originally designed to organise toiletries and save floor space, as a coffee station that's not only practical, but looks nice as well.

One shopper took it to the next level, by using the $31 Flexi Storage Decorative Shelving from Bunnings and attaching it to two of the Kmart floor caddies to display plants alongside the DIY coffee station.

She initially bought the shelves to install on her kitchen wall, but after finding out they weren't sturdy enough, it has been sitting in her home, until she saw the Kmart caddy hack.

“I bought these floating shelves from Bunnings but after reading the reviews I found that people had said they are not great! And I was too lazy to take them back,” she wrote.

“Then I saw this Kmart hack with the shower caddies and I’m very happy with the result.”

Shoppers were impressed with the finished results, praising the "incredible" idea.

“This looks excellent. Like you, we have a small kitchen with very limited shelving. You’ve inspired me to do the same,” one wrote.

“Awesome, looks amazing,” another added, while a third commented, “That’s so clever, thanks for sharing”.

However a few others didn't get the hype, with one saying: “I don’t get coffee stations. Not saying it’s bad. Just think it creates more clutter."

Image: Facebook/ Kmart

Travel experts share their go-to hacks to transform your holiday

A group of travel experts have shared their holy grail hacks to transform your next holiday.

From the best days to book your flights, to how to score an upgrade at a hotel, these seasoned travellers told the Mail Online how to get the most out of your next trip.

Pay in the local currency

When you make a transaction via card in a foreign country, EFTPOS machines will often prompt you if you want to pay in your home currency or the local currency.

By opting for the local currency, you can avoid potentially unfavourable currency conversions made by retailers, as the transaction will be made according to the standard daily rates set by Visa or MasterCard.

Likewise, if withdrawing currency from a foreign ATM, always select the local currency to avoid paying the Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which is effectively a way to squeeze more cash out of unwitting customers.

Book a midweek flight

Travellers are usually keen to book flights between Thursday and Monday to line up with the beginning and end of the week.

However, flights booked midweek, especially from Monday to Wednesday, are consistently around 20-30 per cent less than at the weekend.

Connect with an eSim card

To avoid extortionate overseas data roaming charges, those travelling abroad should invest in an eSim card to keep using your phone on holiday.

An eSim is cheaper and less hassle than dealing with buying an international physical Sim card, and can be changed for the best fees depending on regions.

Book your hotel direct

Many travellers opt to book their accommodation through a third-party after being enticed by deals, book now pay later schemes, or the abundance of options.

However the Daily Mail’s Inspector hotel reviewer says “it almost always pays” to call and say you have seen a price that is lower than on the hotel’s website elsewhere.

“Quite often you will get a lower rate, or an upgrade or a complimentary bottle in your room or a voucher for a drink at the bar,” the reporter says.

By calling the hotel and asking them to match a price found on a third party site, you can often score the lower price, and even a better room.

Never use airport currency exchange booths

Currency exchange booths at airports are notorious for jacking up their conversion fees, meaning unsuspecting travellers can pay more to get their own money.

It’s best not to leave cash conversion until the last minute. In the weeks before your trip, shop around at other exchange offices to ensure you’re getting the best rate on your own cash.

The ultimate treatment to transform your curls

Every curly-haired girl knows the struggle of having to carry around multiple hair products to manage their curls.

Anti-frizz serums, leave-in conditioners, curl cream and heat protection spray, are a few of the essentials that most curly hair girls can't live without, but what if there was a product that could do it all?

Revlon's UniqOne Curls treatment is the perfect solution, and as someone who struggles with finding a curl treatment that doesn't leave my curls stringy or puffy, the treatment has become an essential part of my routine.

The treatment boasts ten different benefits including:

Deeply nourishes and repairs damaged curls

Enhances long-lasting natural curl definition

96H frizz control

Elasticity and bounce

Provides lightweight, clean hold

Conditions and detangles

Heat protection

Boosts shine

Helps prevent split ends

Softness and manageability

Yes, those are some big statements, but after my first use I could already see some of the benefits, especially as someone with fine, curly hair.

I found that my hair was less frizzy and puffy and my curls were a lot more defined, even a few days after I initially applied it. I also loved the slight sweet and fruity scent that wasn't too overpowering.

My hair was also easier to manage and style as it wasn't as tangled and despite the gel-like texture of the product, it didn't weigh down my fine hair or leave it feeling greasy.

I found that the best way to use the product is to use it on damp hair.

I like to pump the product onto the palm of my hand (approx. 5-12 times depending on the thickness and length of your hair) and then rubbing it in my hands, before applying it onto my hair on layered sections to ensure even distribution.

I then detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb before scrunching my hair with my hands to ensure even curl clumps.

I normally blow dry my hair, but it you have extra time on your hands, you can leave it to air dry.

The product retails for $24.95 at Oz Hair and Beauty

Images: Supplied

The transformative power of effective communication

Effective communication can be hard and it’s not something that can come easily to us. Yet it's an important tool to invest in as it can have a profound impact on relationship healing, self-discovery and navigating life’s challenges. While the significance of good communication resonates at any stage in life, its value becomes even more pronounced as we age, emerging as an increasingly invaluable tool for fostering understanding, connection, and resilience in both our romantic, and platonic relationships.

Jacqui Manning is a Resident Psychologist at Connected Women, an organisation that facilitates friendships for women over 50 through a range of online and in-person events. Here, Jacqui shares how effective communication can elevate and enrich your life across various scenarios and shares her top tips on how to become a more effective communicator.

“It’s crucial for us at any stage in life to pause, reflect and make an investment in refining our communication skills, as it’s important to recognise the pivotal role it plays in personal growth and meaningful connections,” explains Jacqui. “While we navigate the complexities of life, effective communication becomes crucial for elevating every interaction, good or bad. Now is the opportune moment to seize the power that effective communication can have and implement it into a multitude of scenarios and day-to-day interactions.”

Fixing Broken Friendships

Let's talk about something many of us have experienced – the breakdown of a friendship. It’s a universal encounter that resonates with many. Whether you take divergent paths, differ in your evolving priorities or due to unforeseen conflicts, the unravelling of a friendship can be a poignant and challenging chapter in women’s lives. Yet, it is precisely within these moments of fracture that the potential for growth, resilience and renewal emerges.

“Effective communication serves as the mender of the fractures within a broken relationship. When nurtured with openness, honesty and empathy, communication allows individuals to express their feelings, share perspectives and understand each other’s needs,” explains Jacqui.

“This positive communication fosters a sense of mutual respect, enabling individuals to rebuild trust and create a foundation for a healthier, more resilient friendship. It’s the key to unlocking understanding, finding common ground, and revitalising the emotional bonds that may have been strained. In essence, the power of effective communication lies in its ability to reconcile differences and pave the way for a renewed and strengthened connection.”

Navigating Life's Challenges

Effective communication isn't just a solution for broken friendships; it's also a compass for when life gets tough.

According to Jacqui, when facing obstacles, the act of vocalising your concerns or feelings to a friend or partner can be a transformative experience. “Verbalising your thoughts and feelings not only clarifies your own understanding but also allows those close to you to provide valuable perspective and insights. Sharing your problems takes the weight off your shoulders and offers a sense of relief.”

Jacqui continues “In the act of confiding, you not only release the emotional burden but also open the door to shared solutions and a mutual journey towards growth and resilience. It transforms a solitary struggle into a collaborative effort, strengthening the bonds that tie individuals together. Effective communication therefore becomes a powerful tool for not only navigating life’s trails but also for fostering resilience, deepening connections, and finding solace.”

Embracing Your True Self

In the middle stage of life, many women grapple with questions about who they really are and what they want.

Jacqui suggests that effective communication can serve as a powerful tool for self-discovery and acceptance, paving the way to embracing one’s true self. She explains, “When we articulate our thoughts, feelings and aspirations, whether through self-reflection or sharing with others, it brings our authentic identity to the forefront.

“In conversations where we openly communicate our values and beliefs, we not only strengthen our understanding of who we are but also create spaces for acceptance and validation. In this process, we find liberation and empowerment and connectedness, as our true self is celebrated and allowed to flourish,” she said.

So, how can you become a more effective communicator? Jacqui recommends the following five tips:

Empower with Language: Be mindful of your words, choosing language that uplifts and encourages rather than criticises or blames. Language is a powerful tool; use it to empower those around you.

Clear Expression: Clearly articulate your feelings and emotions, avoiding assumptions and accusations. Use “I” statements to express your perspective without placing blame, fostering open communication.

Empathy: Try to understand how others feel by putting yourself in their shoes and allowing space for others to express themselves fully, resisting the urge to rush to conclusions or judgment or tell a story to explain.

Vulnerability: Embrace vulnerability as a source of strength. Don’t be afraid to share your authentic self, including fears, concerns, and challenges, to build trust and strengthen connections with others.

Solution Focussed Dialogue: Approach conversations with a focus on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This forward-thinking mindset contributes to a more positive and constructive discourse.

Effective communication isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. It's a journey of self-discovery and connection. It has the potential to mend bonds, guide you through life's challenges, and empower you to be your true self. We need to remember to take a step back, re-evaluate our communication and identify areas for improvement.

For more information visit connectedwomen.net

About Connected Women

Jacqui Manning is the resident psychologist at Connected Women, bringing with her over two decades of experience. Extreme Hollywood body transformations have become standard preparations for film actors – but we need to consider the consequences

So that became kind of crazy. We had a gym in the parking lot, and we’d all be lifting weights on set all day,” explained actor Joe Manganiello, about performing in the film Magic Mike.

It is not unusual for actors to undergo drastic changes in preparation for a role, including gaining muscle and losing body fat for that shredded look. In fact, this is becoming the norm in Hollywood.

Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House, Michelle Rodriguez in Dungeons & Dragons, and Paul Rudd in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, have all undertaken body modifications for roles this year.

As the audience, we readily accept these body modifications to be part of the preparation for the role without necessarily considering the potentially long-term physical and mental health consequences.

So how do they do it?

From what Hollywood shares with the general public about these body modifications, which is generally very limited, it appears these transformations occur through excessive exercise and highly restrictive diets.

Nevertheless, these Hollywood workouts are highly popular with ordinary people, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Chris Hemsworth’s workouts particularly sought after.

These regimens resemble those of competitive bodybuilders, whose success also relies on appearance.

The typical process for bodybuilders involves two phases: a “bulking” phase, during which the goal is to have enough energy for muscle growth, and a “cutting” phase, when the aim is to lose weight but not muscle.

The end result of such a process is usually highly applauded, even though drastic measures have been taken to achieve such a look.

Actors of all genders are undergoing these body transformations for various roles such as superheroes, athletes, or the portrayal of real-life people.

What are the consequences?

“I’ve become a little bit more boring now, because I’m older and I feel like if I keep doing what I’ve done in the past I’m going to die. So, I’d prefer not to die,” said Christian Bale, who has undertaken multiple extreme transformations for roles.

To achieve what is needed for a particular role, extreme measures are often taken. However, the consequences of these measures, such as use of substances, exercise dependence, and an increased risk of developing muscle dysmorphia and/or an eating disorder, is seemingly not common knowledge.

A concern for the bodybuilding community is the widespread use of drugs, often multiple drugs at a time not obtained through prescription. Androgenic-anabolic steroids are commonly used which can have extensive negative effects on the human body, including on the cardiovascular system, hormones, metabolism and even psychiatric wellbeing.

Exercise dependence can also occur when an individual engages in an extreme amount of exercise, to the point at which physical, psychological or emotional harm can occur. We are not sure exactly why exercise dependence happens, but it could potentially be a form of behavioural addiction.

Another risk is muscle dysmorphia, a subtype of body dysmorphic disorder characterised by the individual being preoccupied with the idea their physique is not muscular enough, even if they have a high degree of muscle.

What about the dieting impacts?

There are many similarities between the requirements of bodybuilding and eating disorders. Both are characterised by restrictive diets, high levels of exercise, potential social isolation, and adherence to a rigid schedule.

The seminal Minnesota Starvation Experiment fundamentally shaped our understanding of the changes a person can experience when they are consuming less than their daily nutrition energy needs, such as during the “cutting” phase for bodybuilders. This research showed that people who are experiencing starvation for a period of time will experience devastating impacts in the physical, psychological, behavioural and social aspects of their lives.

Some of the many documented changes included reductions in heart muscle mass, heart rate and blood pressure, dizziness, fatigue, increased feelings of depression and anxiety, obsessive thoughts about food, and withdrawal from social activities and relationships.

Concerningly, even once a person is renourished, the psychological issues around body size and food can persist. Therefore, even after an actor has returned to their pre-modification weight and size, it does not mean they have recovered from the consequences that came with that body modification.

What are the impacts on the general public?

Rapid changes in physical appearance are not realistically achievable for most people. So seeing actors doing this seemingly easily with the assistance of their professional teams sets an unrealistic standard.

For people without the same income or access to resources to achieve these body modifications in a safe way, more extreme means would be undertaken and consequent damage to mental and physical wellbeing can ensue. These body modifications are definitely a case of “do not try this at home”.

There are many risks when undertaking dramatic body modifications, most of which are not talked about in public. Actors are just as vulnerable to these risks, despite us rarely seeing what exactly they go through to achieve these dramatic transformations. Hollywood is a highly competitive environment, and being honest about body modification and its consequences could stop an actor landing their next gig.

We don’t recommend body modifications in any way, but if someone does want to make a change to their lifestyle, we strongly recommend consulting with a team of health professionals to ensure physical and psychological safety during the process and beyond.

––

If this article has raised issues for you, or if you’re concerned about someone you know, do not hesitate to reach out for support. Elle Macpherson reveals the one thing that “transformed” her life

Elle Macpherson, who is known for her record five cover appearances on Sports Illustrated, has shared her age-defying secrets to looking “flawless” in her 50s.

The supermodel, who earned the nickname “The Body” in the 1980s, took to her Instagram stories to share the one practice that “transformed” her life.

“When I turned 50, I just wasn’t feeling very well and I wasn’t looking very well. I noticed my skin, hair, and weight … I was just not feeling inspired, I had sugar cravings, and poor digestion,” she admitted in a snippet of a past interview with NBC’s Megyn Kelly.

“So I went to my nutritionist and said, ‘Listen, something is wrong. I need to address my lifestyle.’

“She said I was taking a lot of synthetic vitamins so she put me on a powerful multivitamin, prebiotic, and probiotic powder.

“So I started taking it because I was kind of malnourished and I wasn’t sleeping much and I wasn’t eating enough fruit and vegetables and I was drinking too much coffee.”

She revealed that after one month of being on the nutrition plan and taking natural multivitamins the changes were so visible that it changed her life.

“I saw such a change and my friend, who is now my CEO, said, ‘What are you doing? You look amazing,’” she recalled.

Macpherson then went on to co-found her own natural supplement and wellness business, WelleCo, with Andrea Horwood.

The supermodel strongly believes in the benefits of good gut health and using plant-based products for their wellness.

In a previous interview with Body+Soul she also revealed that aside from her physical health, she also takes care of her mental and spiritual health through meditation.

“I take care of my mind, body and spirit every day with breath practice and meditation,” she told the publication.

“My daily practice includes meditating in the morning for around 25 minutes — either guided, or in silence.

“I try to live my life in a perpetual flow of meditative connection rather than just at specified times.”

Images: Instagram

8 hair washing tips to transform your tresses this winter

One curly-haired influencer has shared her secrets to happy and healthy hair with the world, promising small changes that “make a big impact” over all.

In a video posted to her social media accounts, Jennie - who goes by ‘The Curly Carr’ online - stressed the importance of learning to properly cleanse hair, and the benefits it can have on the likes of “hair health, definition, shine, volume, and growth”.

As she explained, she too used to be guilty of just hopping in the shower, quickly slathering her hair in shampoo, and rinsing to get the job done.

“I had no clue what I was doing!” she confessed. “Seems like such a small thing, but makes a big impact.”

But luckily for Jennie - and anyone else fortunate enough to hear her top tips - she did learn what she should be doing, working her way towards the luscious locks many dream of, before setting out on her mission to help others on their hair journey.

And in just eight simple steps, that won’t cost you a fortune in new products, Jennie has shared her findings, as well as some helpful advice to help with the transition from quickfire wash to thorough and effective hair care.

Step one was straightforward enough, with Jennie noting that it’s important to “make sure your hair is thoroughly wet all the way through”. According to some experts, a good wetting with warm water helps hair to open up, allowing for a better conditioning process later on.

Step two called for emulsifying shampoo in your hands before it goes anywhere near your head. Essentially, rub it between your hands until it froths up - once you’ve got the suds, it’s time to move on to the hair.

Step three instructed hair hopefuls to massage their heads. But, as Jennie advised, do it “with the pads of your fingers, don’t use your nails”. Be gentle up there, just like you would be to your face.

Step four followed directly on from three, with the instruction to message “all around your head” and to make sure everything got a good clean. Jennie noted that it may take anywhere from 3-5 minutes, but it would all be worth it to have your scalp cleansed.

Step five had Jennie calling for the lengths of hair to be remembered, as “it’s not just your scalp getting buildup with products, dirt, and oil”.

Step six was to use a shampoo brush/scalp brush, particularly for those who - like Jennie herself - tended to go a few days between washes, or did a pre-shampoo process.

Step seven was another one many would be familiar with, as Jennie noted the importance of making sure all shampoo had been thoroughly washed out “before moving on to conditioner!”

And last but not least, step eight instructed viewers to listen to their scalps, as they’d know best when it was time for the next all-important wash.

“Your hair can always be refreshed,” Jennie explained, “but if your scalp is dry, itchy, and you can see buildup, it’s time to wash!”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Jennie 🌷 | Curly Hair Care and Simple Hairstyle Tutorials (@the.curly.carr)

Images: TikTok

9 easy ways to transform your bathroom without renovating

Mouldy grout and dated tiles are just some of the not-so-redeeming features of a tired bathroom, but regular renovations are an expensive and unsustainable option, so how do we fancy-up the bathroom without ripping out the tiles? We spoke to some experts to find out.

1. Spring clean

“The first step would always be to declutter your bathroom and give it a thorough clean – the tiles, any dust and water marks,” says Leah Peretz of renovation experts Just in Place.

Interior designer Suzanne Gorman suggests attempting a DIY re-grout or re-seal on the tiles for a fresher look, but warns: “It is a lengthy process and the dust from removing the existing grout can be major.”

2. Between the lines

If your bathroom has the traditional sand-based white grout, Gorman recommends changing things up a bit.

“There are a vast range of grout colours available on the market,” she says. “The grout colour and finish really does make or break the overall feel of your bathroom. For a subtle, contemporary look we choose grout that blends with the tile colour. If you feel game you can try a contrasting or even coloured grout.”

3. Spray it

Just because you can’t afford to rip the tiles out doesn’t mean you’re stuck with the brown and tan floral forever.

Mary McManus of Lavender Hills Interiors suggests spray-painting outdated tiles. “Old, stained or old-fashioned patterned tiles can be spray-painted fresh bright white to look almost new.”

4. Tapping into trends

The aesthetic impact of a new toilet is greater than you’d imagine. Architect Ben Johnson of Benedict Design says replacing tapware and sanitary fixtures makes a huge impact on the look and functionality of the bathroom.

“The options have exploded in recent years and you can get anything from matte black to gold,” says Johnson. “If you’re replacing your toilet, go for a back-to-wall model as this will keep lines clean and make mopping easy.”

5. Exhausted fans

If you feel your exhaust fan isn’t at its best, give your electrician a call and have it replaced with a higher powered unit. They don’t cost too much and will prevent unwanted mould build-up and condensation.

“An old exhaust fan not doing its job properly can have a huge negative impact on all your finishes in the bathroom,” says Gorman. “Paint, mirrors, tiles and shower screens age dramatically without proper ventilation.”

6. The sky’s the limit

Go one step further with real ventilation via a skylight – a worthwhile investment, according to Johnson. “Getting natural light into a bathroom will have many benefits, from lifting your spirits in the morning to keeping mould at bay.”

Aesthetically, it can also highlight a particular area such as the basin or shower. “If you can, build it with an open shaft that will improve the sense of space by giving additional height and breaking up the ceiling.”

7. You’re so vain

Peretz suggests upcycling an old piece of furniture with a lick of paint then sitting a basin on top for a unique vanity. You can replace a run-of-the-mill shaving mirror with a glamorous vintage one or opt for a contemporary black statement mirror.

Tip: If you just want to replace your shaving mirror with a smarter version, Gorman says a larger mirror will hide any evidence of previous wall fixings. Alternatively, ask your local glazier to make up a replacement.

8. In the details

From framing your children’s art to displaying your towels on a ladder, all our experts agree that small touches can make a big difference.

“Bring in some texture and colour with thick ribbed bath mats and fluffy towels,” says McManus.

And fluffy towels are even better when they’ve come straight from a heated towel rail. “Most towel rails come as a plug-in,” says Johnson, “which helps if you’re not planning on cutting into your walls or replacing tiles. A warm towel on a winter morning is a wonderful thing.”

9. Go green

“A living plant will bring colour and texture into your bathroom,” says Peretz. “A ficus or a palm in the corner can be a beautiful statement if you have enough space. Orchids and bamboos like the humidity.”

McManus suggests placing some blue-and-white ginger jars and an orchid on the vanity for that final touch.

Written by Joanne Gambale. Transformers trailer sparks fury online

Transformers released a string of teasers and behind-the-scenes footage ahead of the June premiere of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - but quickly stripped a scene that appeared reminiscent of the September 11 attacks.

The seventh Transformers movie in the franchise is set to hit Aussie cinemas on June 22, and Transformers shared an extended trailer that showed the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre surrounded by black smoke, according to the New York Post.

The scene’s evocation of 9/11 shocked viewers and many didn’t believe the image could be affiliated with a Transformers movie.

“This image certainly made me stop scrolling,” wrote Twitter user Daniel Kibblesmith, alongside the jarring screenshot from the trailer.

Kibblesmith’s tweet attracted more than 2.5 million views in less than 24 hours after being posted.

Transformers’ caption read, “It’s about to be epic. Go behind the scenes with our cast and crew, and meet the new characters of Transformers.”

As of May 23, the post no longer appears to be on the franchise’s Twitter page.

The nearly two-minute teaser features Anthony Ramos, who stars in Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts as Noah Diaz, an ex-military electronics specialist living in Brooklyn, New York.

“This is about to be epic. This is about to be epically crazy,” Ramos said in the behind-the-scenes clip.

The footage shows a peaceful NYC skyline with the Twin Towers before abruptly cutting to a shot of the Statue of Liberty in the foreground and the World Trade Centre covered in thick smoke in the background.

Steven Caple Jr, the movie’s director clarifies in the clip that the upcoming movie is “in chronological order, is the second Transformers movie – it takes place during the ’90s”.

“I didn’t think that it was possible, but here I am, even less interested than ever in seeing a Transformers movie. They’ve done it again, the mad genii,” one Twitter wrote.

“This could have been easily avoided if they’d picked literally any other city besides New York,” another tweeted.

“That is … an unfortunate shot,” yet another said of the upsetting image, while another said it was “too soon”.

Simon Baker’s stunning transformation

For many, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Simon Baker is The Mentalist - a lead role that established him as one of American TV’s highest paid stars.

For others, it’s Baker as the face of ANZ.

Either way, it’s easy to put a face to the name, though even some of his most hardcore fans may be surprised by the actor’s latest transformation, stepping back from Hollywood to instead embrace his passions and focus on his “creative renaissance”.

Simon’s latest project, Limbo, comes in the wake of his homegrown work with High Ground, Blaze, and adaptation of Tim Winton’s Breath - with some going so far as to call it Baker’s “career best”.

In Limbo, an outback noir written and directed by award-winning Indigenous filmmaker Ivan Sen, Baker steps into the shoes of jaded police detective and former drug squad officer Travis Hurley.

Hurley and his addictions are sent to a small community in the outback that’s surrounded by opal mines and filled with secrets - one of which is a two-decades old disappearance of an Indigenous woman that Hurley is there to investigate.

And while some of this may feel familiar to Baker’s regular audiences, the film is a far cry from what they’ve perhaps come to expect from the likes of The Mentalist, and his role even more so, with one reviewer calling his performance “hypnotically sinister”.

Sen - who took on the roles of cinematographer, composer, and editor as well - paints a black-and-white picture, and utilises known crime drama tropes without thrusting them into the faces of Limbo’s viewers.

Audiences witness the film through Hurley’s perspective, learning of what the town’s community has endured through the eyes of an ‘outsider’. As Hurley learns more about the failures of investigative authorities in the town, so too do the audience, as well as the underlying messages on the value of Indigenous life.

It’s not the first time Sen has explored this in his work, and combined with Baker’s ability to tell a story subtly, with quiet nuance and separation from stereotype, it appears a match made in movie heaven.

As Sen told The New Daily, “he has got an amazing presence.

“He can talk so well without actually having to open his mouth. I wanted to expand that within a cinematic context, so this was our chance.”

Images: Bunya Productions, Warner Bros. Television

Home and Away star shares astonishing 10kg transformation

Home and Away’s Matt Evans has stunned fans and followers after sharing the results of his eight-week body transformation on social media.

The 26-year-old actor - best known for his work as Theo Poulos on the hit soap - posted two side-by-side snaps, apparently taken just two months apart, of his body at two different stages in his fitness journey.

The location was the same in both, with Evans standing in Bonds underwear in front of a door in both, with only the lighting - harsher in the ‘after’ pic - and Evans’ muscle mass and body weight changing.

“8 WEEK CHALLENGE RESULTS,” he captioned the image, before thanking his trainer, Harris Barclay.

“I did a massive bulk last year which then lasted through christmas and it was the first time I had ever weighed 90kgs in my life. I am now back at 80kgs where I like to sit.”

Evans went on to explain that his trainer had helped him come up with both a diet and training plan, and then revealed the key element that they had dropped from his regime, with Evans telling followers that it “DID NOT involve cardio.

“I just went for an occasional walk if I wanted to be more active. Harris made the diet easy to follow and all you have to do is eat the food and show up to the gym. The training program was catered to my needs with weight training. "DaddyMac's" incredible transformation

Sam Mac has shared the gruelling health and fitness journey he has been on for the last two months, finally unveiling his "secret project".

The Sunrise weather presenter shocked his co-hosts on Friday morning's show by revealing his buffed-up body on the cover of Men’s Health magazine.

“We’ve got some big news,” he said during the weather segment.

“A lot of our viewers have been writing to me over the past weeks asking ‘Have you lost weight - what’s going on?’”

“Yes I have lost weight, I’ve been training for the last two months, and I can reveal that I’m on the cover of Men’s Health magazine.”

His co-hosts were quick to sing his praise, with Matt Shirvington saying "You look good!", to which Mac admitted, "It was really hard."

“Basically you become the most boring human - no alcohol, no sugar, no bread, no pasta, no pizza... all the good stuff”.

“But it’s all worth it because what a challenge it was and I’m really proud to share this story.”

“You can be interesting now,” Nat joked as the segment wrapped.

Sam also shared his transformation on Instagram, sharing just how much he had transformed his body in eight short weeks.

Sharing the cover of the magazine, that included his "before" photo, Mac wrote, "Wowsers! That’s really me! 😳".

"I’m absolutely honoured to grace the cover of @menshealthau🙌🏼 & absolutely gutted they included my “before” shot on that same cover 😔 (gutted being the appropriate term)."

"The magazine is officially in stores on Monday, but in the meantime, take a breath & enjoy a little taste of #DaddyMac😎".

Comments of praise for this lifestyle overhaul flooded the post, with many congratulating the weatherman on his new look.

His Sunrise co-host Edwina Bartholomew commented, "I would like to say ‘hot’ but that would be especially weird so I’ll go with ‘well done’," while Dr Chris Brown chimed in, Well done mate. Awesome effort. The new Magic Mac film in cinemas soon…"
