1. A birthday cake Celebrating a special day mid-flight? It�s worth contacting your airline prior, as many are willing to provide a birthday cake as a special treat for their passengers.
2. Extra snacks Ah, it�s always the way. There seems to be barely enough snacks in the first batch, but if you ask for more (provided everyone else has been served) you�ll normally get them.
3. Bottled waterFeeling thirsty up in the air? Well, most airlines normally have a substantial supply of bottled water you can use to quench your thirst. All you have to do is ask.
4. Basic grooming items Even if you�re not on an international flight, most planes are equipped with some basic grooming items that can make you arrive at your destination a little less scruffy.
5. A doctor They won�t be able to give you a full body check-up, but if you�re feeling a little green around the gills your flight attendant will be able to direct you to the nearest doctor.
6. A will In a worst (and we mean worst) case scenario, flight captains are able to act as your last will and testament. Obviously not a freebie you�d want to take up though.
7. Temporary babysitting Grandkids getting a bit much? Several airlines including Etihad Airways have �Flying Nannies� to help keep the little ones entertained while on long-haul flights.
8. Basic medicines and bandages Finger stuck in the tray table? Well, if you�re on the right airline, most flights are willing to supply basic medications like painkillers and antacids, as well as Band-aids.
