David Hockney exhibition coming to Melbourne

Known as one of Britain’s greatest and most prolific living artists, 78-year-old David Hockney, will be getting a major exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.

The septuagenarian continues to produce innovative artworks today, experimenting with new media – particularly iPads, iPhones and video. 600 of these digital creations will be featured in the exhibition, which will also showcase some of his most famous pieces.

Highlights of the exhibition include Bigger Trees Near Warter, his largest painting (made up of 12 individual panels) and The Four Seasons, Woldgate Woods – an immersive video project chronicling the changing landscape of his native Yorkshire.

Martin Foley, Minister for Creative industries, called the event an “unprecedented opportunity” for art lovers around Australia to get up close and personal with the works of one of the world’s most brilliant artists.

The David Hockney exhibition will be on show from November 11, 2016 till March 12, 2017. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
