Prince Frederik and Princess Mary's children all grown up in new family photo
The Danish royal palace has released a new family portrait to celebrate the 50th birthday of Crown Prince Frederik.
The touching portrait shows the heir to the Danish throne smiling alongside his wife, Princess Mary and their four children.
The photo was taken in the living room at the royal palace Amalienborg in Copenhagen.
Frederik and Mary’s children lovingly posed for the photo, with the two eldest children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, placing their arms around their twin siblings, Josephine and Vincent.
The family portrait was released on the official Instagram account of the Danish royal family with the caption: “It is a pleasure for the Crown Prince couple to share a new picture of the whole family on the occasion of the Royal Highness Crown Prince's 50th birthday.”
A solo photo of Frederik was also released, which showed the prince posing on the steps of the palace.
The photos, taken by Danish royal photographer Franne Voigt, were posted two hours before the family and Queen Margarethe went on the palace balcony to greet well-wishers. Celebrations for Frederik’s birthday have spanned throughout the week.
At a formal birthday dinner on Saturday night, Princess Mary gave a heartfelt speech to her husband as she revealed romantic details about the early days of their relationship.
“I am so happy you swept me off my feet,” she said in front of the crowded room.
“And we dared to fall for each other not for a moment, but for life. And life with you is never boring.”
Princess Mary will also release a book about Prince Frederik to conclude his birthday celebrations.
Collaborating with four photographers, Mary has collected various photos of the Prince including some from their own private collection.
