Liam Neeson in hotel quarantine as he touches down in Sydney

Hollywood star Liam Neeson is in hotel quarantine in Sydney.

The action hero arrived in the country last Saturday and is set to finish his mandatory 14 days of hotel room isolation by the weekend, according to The Age.

Neeson is in Melbourne to a shoot a new action movie as soon as his quarantine is over.

The $43 million film Blacklight was written, directed and produced by Mark Williams, who was also behind Netflix crime drama Ozark.

The new movie will feature Neeson as a “troubled off-the-books fixer for the FBI tasked with pulling undercover agents out of dangerous situations”, the production company said, according to The Age.

According to a Monday tally by NSW police, 5300 people were in hotel quarantine in NSW. Six of those were coronavirus positive as of Monday’s COVID-19 update.

More than 84,300 people have spent time in hotel quarantine in Sydney since late March.
