Apps all pet owners should download

If the two closest companions in your life are your furry friend and your smartphone then download these apps right now! The tech-savvy pet owner knows there’s a wealth of information for pets to be found in the palm of your hand. Here are the best four apps.

First Aid for Pets, free for IOS and Android

An easy-to-use reference and educational tool to help you and your pet if there is ever an emergency. The app also links with your local vet clinic (if they are participating) to provide quick access to contact information. Hopefully you won’t ever have to use this but it’s best to be prepared.

PawClub, free for IOS, not available for Android

You no longer need to worry if the park allows dogs anymore, this app helps you find locations throughout Australia where you and your pooch will always be welcomed. Created by dog-owners for dog-owners, there’s an extensive list of parks, beaches, accommodation, restaurants and cafes in all the states.

iPetCare, $6.49 for IOS, not available for Android

Easily gather all the information about your pets with this app. Store details like name, picture, vaccinations, weight chart and much more. The app also reminds you of any scheduled appointments.

iCam, $6.49 for IOS and US$4.99 for Android

Not specifically for pet-owners but if you have a webcam at home, this app allows you to watch your pet in real-time from your phone or tablet.  Useful if you’re leaving your pet home alone for the first time, travelling or if you’re just curious to what your furry friend does when you’re out.
