Ally Langdon’s x-rated blunder goes international
An awkward on-air blunder by Today Show co-host Ally Langdon has been picked up around the world, with the clip even getting a mention from US talk show host James Corden.
In the segment, which happened last week, Ally and her co-host Karl Stefanovic were chatting with two gardening experts about how to properly care for your lawn.
But Langdon’s pronunciation of “couch”, while technically correct, had her co-host in fits of giggles.
“I want to ask, because my cooch is dying,” she began, as Stefanovic struggled to suppress his laughter.
“What have you been doing to it, if it’s died?” one of the gardening experts gamely asked as Karl buried his head in his hands.
“Well, the dog pees all over it …” said Langdon.
“Try and keep the dog off it, and you’ll probably see results,” said the gardener, as Stefanovic hysterically laughed while doubled over.
“I don’t understand what’s going on with my co-host,” said an apologetic Langdon.
The expert gardener then followed suit with Ally's unique pronunciation of couch grass, telling her that “cooch has got really good wear and tear tolerance, so it can recover quickly”.
Karl eventually managed to regain his composure and dubbed the moment "possibly the best segment ever. We’ll have more after the break – if we’re still on air”.
“I still don’t understand,” shrugged Langdon.
The clip gained international traction online, with the segment racking up more than 120,000 views on YouTube.
The hilarious blunder was even picked up by host of the Late Late Show, James Corden, who said, “An Australian TV host had an accidental slip-up while discussing lawn maintenance live on the air,” before playing the clip to his audience.
“Everyone needs to grow up, OK? She’s just talking about trimming her grass down under,” he joked.
