BBC drama beats ‘The Crown’ in BAFTAS
During Sunday night’s British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAS), a BBC drama beat Netflix’s The Crown.
Despite The Crown being a $100 million production, Happy Valley took home the best drama award at the prestigious awards show.
The Crown is reportedly the most expensive television show ever, partly due to the show’s extravagant costumes and sets.
The Crown’s lead actress, Claire Foy, worked with a life size replica of Buckingham Palace and a wedding dress that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Although Claire was nominated for the Leading Actress Award, it was taken by Happy Valley star Sarah Lacanshire.
Australian comedian Adam Hills was nominated for his talk show The Last Leg but went home empty handed. The award went to Michael McIntyre and it was his first BAFTA.
