Chrissie Swan butts heads with Steve
Chrissie Swan and Steve Price butted heads in a heated argument about protestors on The Project.
The co-hosts were discussing the Blockade Australia’s unauthorised protests in Sydney on June 27 when Price voiced his opinion, not leaving any room for Swan to talk.
“I’m not quite sure what throwing rubbish into the street and disrupting an entire city for a week is going to do except lose support for anything those people are doing,” Price asserted.
Swan tried to converse by saying “I know that it’s deeply inconvenient…” before she was cut off by a passionate Price.
“It’s pathetic! And disruptive!” Price continued with Swan saying, “Okay I’m terrified,” and giving a sideways glance at the producers.
“They deserve to go to jail,” Price continued.
This prompted co-host and comedian Peter Helliar to jump in and point out Price’s hypocrisy about people being disruptive.
“Chrissie’s trying to chat and you’re saying [the protesters are] disruptive,” he declared.
“I think on the bell curve of passion, the price for apathy is extreme caring like that,” Swan continued.
“What, breaking the law?” Price asked.
“Well, yeah I’m OK with it. I would never do that, but I think that’s the price of democracy,” Swan concluded.
Price, however, had the last word: “They’re breaking the law and they need to go to jail.
“You can have a protest like a march down the street that police endorse and let you do. [But] they do not tell people where they’re going and it’s disgraceful.”
