Nigella Lawson reveals: “I couldn’t cope on MasterChef!”
For three seasons now, domestic goddess Nigella Lawson has appeared on MasterChef Australia coaching and guiding the contestants to success.
But despite the number of accolades under her belt, the queen of the kitchen who is due to appear on the show on Sunday, doesn’t think she would make it through the competition due to the immense amount of pressure.
“I don’t think I could cope with the pressure,” she tells TV WEEK. “I can deal with pressure in general, and need to write under pressure, but I cannot cook under pressure!”
The 59-year-old doesn’t think she has what it takes to become a MasterChef winner.
“I think the most important basic requirement is an excellent palate,” she said when asked how contestants can take home the top prize.
“Also, to blossom rather than wilt under pressure, and the ability to be able to bounce back from failure and to learn from mistakes, not be dragged down by them.”
On the other end of the spectrum, Matt, George and Gary admit that their job is easy even though they’re in a high-pressure environment.
Speaking to TV WEEK, Matt Preston said that he “loves” the job.
“We’re not doing it for the money, let’s be honest,” he said. “If you love your job, then you’re never going to work a day in your life.”
The ever-so-stylish food critic says he’s thankful for the experience, despite the intense film schedule.
“Yes, we work long and we work hard, but at the end of the day it’s a privilege to be on the show,” he said.
MasterChef Australia airs Monday to Thursday, and Sunday, 7:30 pm on Channel 10.
