The cheap tool that helps thieves break into a car in 30 seconds
An inconspicuous tool that is available online is being used by thieves to break into cars.
The Ford Tibbe Key allows thieves to unlock a car door in under 30 seconds.
The tool is made for locksmiths and vehicle recovery businesses but can be purchased online.
Car recovery driver, Ady Handley, explained that the key works on most Ford and Jaguar models.
“You’re meant to have a licence to be able to buy these keys, and they’ve been banned online in most places,” he said.
Unfortunately, once the door has been opened, the tool can also lock the doors so the owner of the car would not be aware that anything happened.
“Even worse, if someone uses this key on someone’s car, they could then take it to a locksmith and get a key cut for their car – which would start the engine and mean they could get away,” Ady said.
Be sure not to leave any valuables in your car.
