Century-old Anzac memorial damaged
A century-old Anzac memorial has been damaged in northern New South Wales, prompting a police appeal for information from the public.
Police were told on Thursday that the marble statue, depicting a soldier, in Walgett Memorial Park, had suffered some damage.
Authorities found the statue's arm had been damaged and the marble rifle missing.
It's believed the statue was damaged between Monday February 10th and Thursday February 13th.
The memorial statue was originally imported to the regional town from France in 1922.
Anybody with dashcam footage, CCTV, or information on the vandalism, is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
