Officer found dead at police station
A senior constable has been found dead inside the Sydney Police Centre in Surry Hills, shocking colleagues and prompting a critical incident investigation.
The 52-year-old officer’s body was discovered early Monday morning at the station on Goulburn Street. According to a police statement, initial inquiries indicate the death is not suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
“This is a very sad day for the NSW Police Force,” the statement read. “A critical incident investigation is underway.”
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb visited the station on Monday to support grieving colleagues and pay respects to the fallen officer.
“Our hearts go out to the officer’s family,” Commissioner Webb said. “Every support will be made available for staff and family impacted by this tragedy.”
The circumstances surrounding the officer’s death remain under investigation. Authorities have not released further details, citing respect for the officer’s family and the ongoing inquiry.
