UK reality TV star Katie Price – the former wife of Peter Andre – has been handed a 16-week suspended prison sentence for drink-driving with a disqualified license and without car insurance.

The 43-year-old will need to meet certain conditions as part of her sentence, which has been suspended for 12 months. These conditions include 100 hours of community service and a driving ban.

The sentence was handed down on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT) at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.

Price, who has had previous driving convictions, crashed her car near her Sussex home in the early hours back in September and was pulled out of the vehicle by a witness.

No one else was injured in the crash, but Katie was arrested and taken to hospital.

In September, she pleaded guilty to charges of drink-driving, driving while disqualified and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

She's become a staple in British unscripted television, taking part in a season of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2004, where she first met Peter Andre.

The couple went on to have their own reality shows together. Price and Andre were married from 2005-2009 and share two children together.
