Aussies have been warned about this one innocent Halloween act that could get them slapped with a $2000 fine.
Dominic Wyatt from the International Drivers Association shared that wearing Halloween costumes while behind the wheel could result in a fine up to $2000.
“Australian laws are explicit about driving safely, even at Halloween. Wearing a mask or heavy costume while driving can get you fined,” Wyatt shared.
By law drivers are required to have proper control of their vehicle and a clear view of the road at all times, so those who are thinking of going as Ghostface or any other monster need to keep their masks off, tone down the make up, and make sure their costumes aren't too bulky.
According to Wyatt, wearing costumes that obscures vision and limits mobility can lead to fines and loss of demerit points in some jurisdictions.
In NSW can lead to a $387 penalty and the loss of three demerit points.
“Impaired vision or restricted movement can dangerously affect your driving ability, leading to potential accidents. So besides risking fines, you are also putting yourself and other road users at risk,” Wyatt added.
