Zero tolerance signs appear in supermarkets

Woolworths have adopted a zero tolerance policy to aggressive and abusive behaviour after panic buying due to the coronavirus has seen customers abusing staff.

Shortages of staple items, including pasta, rice and toilet paper, have seen customers yelling at employees and abusing staff members who work frantically with demand for products.

"Zero Tolerance. Aggressive and abusive behavior will not be tolerated. Our team are here to help, not hurt," the signs read.

9News has seen the notices in Sydney stores as well as in Perth.

Woolworths Managing Director Claire Peters has called for calm amongst the madness.

"Now - more than ever - we need to be kind to each other," Claire Peters said.
