Bert Newton has been rushed to hospital
Last night, Bert Newton was taken to the emergency department of a Melbourne hospital with pneumonia complications.
The Aussie television legend went to Epworth Hospital and had a lingering cough due to pneumonia.
The 78-year-old was first diagnosed with pneumonia five weeks ago.
Doctors at the hospital have expressed that they hope a series of x-rays will determine the cause of his long-lasting illness.
Bert was unable to attend the Logie Awards on the weekend due to his sickness.
His wife Patti, paid tribe to the sick star by wearing a photo of him on her sequined jacket to the awards show due to his absence.
She said on Instagram, “Even though Berts not well I'm taking him to the Logies.”
Patti’s jacket had a replica of the 1984 TV Week cover which was published after Bert won the Gold Logie for “The Don Lane Show”.
