Dave Hughes’ wife confronts him on TV over marriage issues
When Dave Hughes brought his wife Holly on stage on his popular TV show Hughesy, We Have a Problem, we’re betting he wasn’t expecting to be called out for his own problems.
At the beginning of the episode, Hughesy explained, “foreplay has become a little bit not as romantic as it should be and I’m blaming her.”
“She looked me up and down and I thought she was perusing how sexy I was,” he said, recalling a recent night in bed.
“She had a look in her eye and I thought, ‘she wants me so much, she can’t handle it.’ And she looked at me and said, ‘have you put the bins out?’”
Pointing at his body, Hughesy added, “You cannot look this up and down and be reminded of a task that you don’t particularly like doing that is a bit stinky!”
The comedian’s partner of 15 years later came on stage as a guest, venting about how her hubby tries to initiate intimacy before they even get a chance to catch up.
“We don’t get to spend a lot of time together because you work a lot,” Holly told him.
“I’m still debriefing and you’re trying to start the thigh rub or the hand holding and I’m like, ‘I’ve still got things to tell you.’”
After exchanging a few quips, Holly then stole the show with a zinger after Hughesy told the panel of an occasion when their “special time” was ruined “halfway through” because she had remembered a funny news story she heard that day and began laughing.
The quick-witted Holly brought the house down with her hilarious comeback.
“We weren’t halfway there! Number one, women are very good at multi-tasking and number two, I think you often have this idea that things have started when I’m not aware that they have!”
