John Farnham reaches out to support good friend Olivia Newton-John

The devastation of the news that Olivia Newton-John is battling breast cancer for a second time proved the impact the Aussie icon has had on people around the world.

Olivia’s good friend and music collaborator, John Farnham, has explained that she is confident she will beat the disease once again.

I’ve spoken to Olivia in the last few days, and, as always she is very positive,” Farnham said.

“She told me she is feeling good and confident of a total healing. The love and support from family and friends as well as people in general is enormous comfort to her.

“I’ve also spoken to Doctor Cebon at Olivia’s Wellness Center, and he tells me that her positivity is a great asset to her and if anyone can beat this she can.”

The 68-year-old star was forced to postpone her US and Canadian tour next month after her back pain was discovered to be breast cancer that had metastasised to the sacrum.

The singer said on Facebook that she is confident that after a short course of photon radiation therapy she will be “"be back later in the year, better than ever".

"I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists, and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia," she said.
