Family breaks silence after five-year-old son fatally hit by car
The devastated family of five-year-old boy Alby Thompson have remembered him for his "laughter and love".
The young boy died after being struck by a four-wheel-drive in Broome, Western Australia about 5.20pm last Thursday.
The five-year-old was rushed to Broome Regional Hospital where he later died.
His family have issued a statement to the ABC on Wednesday and thanked the community for their “outpouring of love".
“It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of our beloved son, Alby, who tragically lost his life in a road accident,” the statement began.
“His laughter and love filled our hearts and home.
“We kindly request privacy during this period of mourning as we come to terms with this devastating loss.
“We thank the community for their outpouring of love and support during this heart-wrenching time.”
The 34-year-old driver of the Landcruiser is assisting police with inquiries, and no charges have been laid.
