Hollywood actor hospitalised after freak snowplow accident
Jeremy Renner, who stars in the popular Marvel franchise, has lost a significant amount of blood on New Year’s Day following his snowplow machine accidentally running over one of his legs.
A neighbour who is a doctor managed to rush to his aid and applied a tourniquet to his injured leg. An air ambulance then took Renner to a hospital near Reno.
It has been noted the star’s injuries are “extensive” and other parts of his body were also injured along with his leg, although further details about the injuries were not available.
The 51-year-old US actor was loaded onto the chopper around 9:50 am local time on Sunday. Renner was alone and had been trying to clear a path out of his five-bedroom home following a massive snowstorm over the new year.
It is said that he is in a “critical but stable” condition after the freak accident. Apparently a safety feature on the machine apparently failed, sending the heavy machinery rolling over him.
He lives about 40km outside Reno near Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, and has previously shared photos and videos of himself using his snowplow to dig out of winter storms.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Renner was the only person injured in the incident Sunday morning and the Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the circumstances of the incident.
