Hollywood legend Kris Kristofferson dies at age 88
Music and movie legend Kris Kristofferson has died at the age of 88.
The acclaimed country singer and actor who appeared in A Star is Born alongside Barbara Streisand passed away "peacefully” at his home in Hawaii on September 28th surrounded by family, according to People.
No cause of death has yet been announced.
The statement from his family read, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28 at home. We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”
Throughout his career as a musician, Kristofferson won multiple Grammy's and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
He was also known for his acting accolades, including a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a musical for A Star Is Born and starring in the popular Blade franchise.
Kristofferson’s death comes three and a half years after he announced his retirement, following what was to be his final concert in Florida in February 2020.
Kristofferson was a father to eight children and is survived by his third wife, Lisa Meyers, who he married in 1983.
