How to tell if you’re colourblind

The term colour blindness is misleading. A more precise term in colour vision deficiency (CVD). People who are colourblind can’t see some colours or see them differently from other people. Very few people who are colourblind are blind to all colours. The usual colours that people have difficulty with are greens, yellows, oranges and reds.

Colour blindness is most commonly a genetic condition. Some colour blindness is genetically inherited. Colour blindness can also arise as a result of trauma that causes brain or retinal damage, degenerative eye disease and other causes.

While you can book in to see a professional to investigate colour blindness, we’ve also compiled a list of questions for you and if you answer yes to one or more of the following questions, then you are most probably affected by some kind of color blindness.

In any case, to be sure if you are affected by some form of colour blindness make an appointment with an ophthalmologist.
