Aussies spend more on clothes than anywhere in world

In a revelation that may not be shocking for us as Australians, Statista has ranked the top spending countries in the world, and we’ve taken the number one spot.

Statista comprised a list comparing the average annual expenditure that nine regions spent on clothing, and Australia came out on top, shelling out US$1,050 per year.

Second to us came Canada, followed not far behind by Japan, who spent US$831 and US$814 a year respectively.

The remaining numbers were as follows:

4.   EU-27 members: $663
5.   United States: $686
6.   Russia: $272
7.   Brazil: $273
8.   China: $109
9.   India: $36

We have to wonder whether this list included the cost of apparel’s international shipping, because if so, that would really explain a lot.
