Fruit and veggie facials for younger looking skin
We all know how important it is to fill up our plates on a daily basis with fresh fruit and veggies but what about applying those same ingredients topically? Packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, popular fruit bowl and salad crisper regulars are now being enlisted to help improve our complexion and lessen the impact that ageing can have. Give an edible facemask a whirl with one of our four favourite recipes here.
- Pomegranate scrub – packed with anti-ageing Vitamin C, pomegranate seeds can help gently remove dead skin, refreshing your complexion. In a blender or food processor combine, 2 tablespoons pomegranate seeds, 1 cup oats, 2 tablespoons raw or Manuka honey and 2 tablespoons natural or Greek yoghurt. Apply to face and leave for a few minutes then rinse.
- Cranberry brightening mask – Exfoliate and brighten with vitamin C rich cranberries. Mix together 1 cup fresh cranberries, 1 cup seedless grapes, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and 1 teaspoon gelatin. Cover and allow to thicken in the fridge for 30 min before applying to skin. Relax with mask on for 15 to 30 min before rinsing face well.
- Hydrating pumpkin mask – Pumpkin flesh is great for boosting skins hydration levels. In a food processor or blender combine 2 cups cooked pumpkin, 4 tablespoons natural or Greek yoghurt, 4 tablespoons raw or Manuka honey
and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Process and apply a thick layer to face for 15 to 30 min before rinsing. - Strawberry anti-aging mask – Strawberries are nature’s anti-agers due to their high vitamin C content. In a food processor or blender combine 1 cup fresh strawberries or mixed berries, 1 cup natural or Greek yoghurt and 1.5 tablespoons raw or Manuka honey. Combine and apply to your face for 15to 30 minutes before rinsing well.
