Lisa Curry launches new skincare line
Lisa Curry has announced her foray into skincare, Happy Skin by Lisa Curry, released as part of her Happy Healthy You range of products that includes hormones and supplements.
The line has been a dream of Curry’s for a long time, ever since she first rose to fame as a swimmer in the late 1970s. Talking to 7Lifestyle, she said, “I’ve always known the importance of taking care of your skin from a young age but being in the pool for so much of my life, it was difficult to keep up with a regimented routine.
“I would rub in a little of what mum had in her bathroom, just to take the dryness and sting away, but not taking too much notice. But I was beginning to see the harsh effects on my skin of spending a lifetime in the water. When I woke up one day and saw a wrinkle looking back at me, I knew it was time to do something.”
Happy Skin by Lisa Curry is based on her desire to create a skincare routine that was easy to follow, simple to use, and effective. On her decision to advertise the range herself rather than employing a model, Curry said, “Pretty much every skincare brand has a 20 or 30 year old endorsing it. And of course, their skin looks beautiful. But for me, at my age, being comfortable and confident and happy in your own body means feeling good on the inside and the outside.”
The range includes a cleanser, exfoliant, moisturiser and a collagen-boosting serum, and was two years in the making. In addition, the products are vegan-friendly, free from parabens and preservatives, and designed for all ages, genders, and skin types.
Explaining why she opted for a simplified skin care range, Curry said, “I’d struggled to find a skincare brand that was natural and effective and had that simple four-step process. I did some research on probiotics and the impact it can have on skin, and that became an important element that I wanted to use in the range.”
Curry believes that good skin is a key consideration when it comes to confidence, telling 7, “Your skin is the one thing most people see and the one of the biggest contributors to your confidence. I think it’s really important to use natural, effective products that help your skin glow.
“When your skin is clean and clear, your makeup goes on so much better and you actually need less of it, which is a real bonus to ageing skin.”
She’s also a big believer in the impact of diet on skin health. Her advice? “Eating a range of fruits, vegetables, legumes, proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates will offer your body a vast variety of nutrients and give it the best chance of healing from any past damage.
Some foods are superior to others when it comes to skin health. Try incorporating carrots for carotene, shellfish for zinc, and berries for vitamin C into your diet, all of which have been known to improve skin health.
“One of the best skincare routine tips is simply to have a healthy diet.”
