Barnesy does the drop-off! Jimmy Barnes shares heart-warming moment with his grandson
Jimmy Barnes has shared the heart-warming moment he escorted his young grandson to his first day back at school.
The music icon proved he is well and truly on the mend from his gruelling hip surgery as he posed with nine-year-old Dylan outside his school gates.
Jimmy was seen smiling proudly as he draped his arm around his grandson, writing on Instagram, "First day at a new school for grandson Dylan. We all went to see him in."
"He’ll be too embarrassed of us soon. The kids are growing up way too fast."
Dylan is the son of Elly-May Barnes, 33, Jimmy and Jane Barnes' youngest daughter.
Jimmy is still recovering from extensive hip surgery that he underwent in December 2022.
He regularly updates his followers online with the latest news of his recovery, with his latest post boasting a celebratory smile as he posed with a bunch of flowers.
He wrote, "These roses are coming with us to the city. Seven weeks post Hip op and I’m heading up for a check up with the surgeon to see if everything’s on track."
"If I get an all clear, I’ll be on the next plane to some sunshine and sea air for the next phase of my recovery."
Barnes, 66, was due to perform multiple shows around Australia in 2023 but was forced to cancel the gigs to have surgery on his back and hip to relieve chronic pain.
“I’ve been jumping off PAs and stomping around stages for nearly 50 years, but it’s finally caught up with me,” Barnes said in a statement in November.
“I’ve had niggling back and hip issues for years, but things suddenly got a lot worse over the last few weeks and I’m now in constant and severe pain.”
“As everybody knows, it’s against my religion to blow out gigs but the doctors tell me I need an operation as soon as possible and it will really limit my movement for a few months.
“As much as it kills me to inconvenience everyone, I have to get this fixed so I can jump around onstage for another 50 years.”
