"Hardest day of my life": Sandra Sully's devastating family news

Sandra Sully has shared the devastating news of the death of her father Sid.

The veteran news presenter announced the news on X on Monday night alongside a series of photos of her beloved dad, saying he was “the BEST man I ever knew.”

The news prompted a wave of condolences, with Sully following up how she has been coping with her loss.

“There is no greater loss than losing a parent. My heart is broken. We all loved him soooo much,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet.

She also revealed her father had passed away last Friday, calling it the “hardest day of my life.”

One of Sandra's Channel Ten colleagues offered their thoughts, commenting, “Oh Sandra. I’m so sorry for the loss of your precious Dad. Sending all my love.”

In an interview with New Idea last year, Sully admitted that her father had been battling a series of health issues.

“I am extremely private but my parents (Sydney and Carol Sully) are getting older and my dad has had some health issues,” she told the outlet, explaining her decision to appear on the SBS genealogy program Who Do you Think You Are?

“There came a point where I had to stop thinking about myself and realise this was about them ‒ and what a wonderful gift this was to give them."
