"I need to be there!" Kyle abandons show to welcome baby boy
Kyle Sandilands abruptly walked out live on air after his fiancée Tegan Kynaston went into labour early on Thursday morning.
The shock jock was working from his home studio while co-host Jackie O Henderson was at the KIIS FM studio when he told everyone he had to leave.
"Guys, I am broadcasting from home for a reason. And that reason seems to have raised its head now," a panicked Kyle said.
"I think I might have to leave the show and go to the hospital.
"Guys, I am so sorry. I feel very unprepared, [But] I've got to run. I don't want to seem like I'm abandoning you, but I need to be there for my child."
In what felt like just moments later, the 51-year-old announced he was a father about Tegan, 37, gave birth to their baby son, Otto.
The Kyle and Jackie O Instagram page confirmed the exciting news, congratulating the new parents.
“OMG!! THE BABY IS BORN!! OTTO HAS ARRIVED!!” the caption read.
The studio sent “Intern” Peter Deppeler to the hospital to keep them updated and when Otto was born he ran into Kyle outside the hospital.
“Otto's born, Otto's fabulous. I cut the cord, I didn't realise it was like tough calamari and blood spurted out,” the happy dad said.
“I was the first person to touch him, he sh*t himself, poo was oozing out,” he added.
While he was chatting to Peter, Kyle was rummaging through his car for snacks saying, “The baby's feeding. Then I thought, well if you're eating, I will too.”
Kyle and Tegan, have been dating since 2019 and got engaged late last year when the radio host popped the question while on holiday in Port Douglas.
