Lauren Newton's touching tribute to Bert

Lauren Newton, Bert and Patti Newton’s only daughter, posted a tribute to the late entertainer to social media for the first time since her Dad’s passing on October 30.

Accompanied by a photo of three of her six children visiting Bert in hospital, Newton wrote, “I miss everything about him but his smile and the fun we had is at the top of the list.

“I hope I told him enough how much I loved him. I always felt his love for me and I hope he felt mine💛”.

Lauren’s post prompted an outpouring of support and love from her followers, including Anthony Callea, who sang The Prayer at Bert’s state funeral last month. Callea wrote, “There’s SO MUCH 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬 in that one photo”. Australian entertainer Rhonda Burchmore also commented, writing, “Sending huge love 💕💕💕💕 he loved you and the family more than life itself 💕💕💕💕”.

Her Mum Patti posted a tribute to Bert on November 29, writing, “My darling Alb I will miss you forever. My heart is broken 💔” underneath a photo of the couple on their wedding day.

Bert passed away on October 30 following a stressful year that included a leg amputation. Patti previously told the Daily Mail, “When you have a leg amputated, you have to be on a lot of painkillers, and Bert had had, just this year alone, he's had eight procedures, which all involved anaesthetics, and that affects you pretty badly.”

As for Bert’s cause of death, Patti said, “Your whole system and just everything closes down really. That was all."
