7 things to do with the grandkids these school holidays

School holidays are a very welcome break for grandkids, but it can be difficult to keep them off those pesky screens. These holidays, why not treat the little ones to a few old-school activities? From crocheting to painting, we’ve picked seven of the best activities for you to do with the kiddies.

  1. Drawing and colouring – Sometimes, the simplest things are the best. Grab some pencils and let your grandchild’s creativity run wild.
  2. Get outside – Kids spend hours cooped up in school every day, so take them into the great outdoors and go for a hike in the bush or stroll at the beach and get back to nature.
  3. Paper mache painting – Let your little one design their own special decoration with this paper mache painting set, available in six designs – butterfly, F1 car, frog, ladybug, jet or panda.
  4. Play tourist – You might only visit art galleries and zoos when you’re in a new city, but there’s nothing more stimulating or exciting for little eyes than seeing their favourite animals up-close or getting inspired by incredible artworks.
  5. Cross-stitch – Painting and drawing isn’t for everyone, but everyone can have a go at cross-stitching. The grandies will love seeing their work come to life. Click here to see our favourite kits.
  6. Get baking – This is something fun for both young and old. Not only is making a batch of cookies or cupcakes a great way to teach kids about cooking, but who could resist that end result? Yum.
  7. Make bows – Yep, your grandchild can make their very own bows. With the Bow Genius, they can craft bows of any style, colour or size – ideal to give as gifts or simply keep for themselves!
